Hi,
I need to perform a transplant on my wife's MacBook Pro and I need a Torx 6 screwdriver- is there any shop guaranteed to have a set? Don't fancy trekking round the city in this traffic

Surely you walk down to the river and not up to the river

First they came for those who played Bridge and I said nothing because I don't play Bridge
Then they came for those who play dominoes and I said nothing because I don't play dominoes
Then they came for those who play snap and I said nothing because I don't play snap
Finally they came for those of us who play tiddlywinks and there was no one left to speak for us

Kad Suan Kaew shopping mall has an authorised apple service centre - they might be able to get one sent up from Singapore - probably won't be cheap as it'll be official Apple gear
-
The new outlet mall opened today next to Kad Farrang Hang Dong road was at a stand still .
This could actually be worse than Huay Kaew / Nimman / Maya - when the tourist buses full of Cinese start heading out there not sure where they're all going to park

Have not had problems with wall or floor tiles as yet but what did happen was equally as strange.
Our wooden window frames expanded and bowed out of shape. Could not shut our windows. Mirrors that are screwed onto the inside of the wardrobe doors cracked and glass on our picture frames also cracked. We could hear the picture frame glass cracking up as if being under pressure. Our Toilet cistern tank cracked open from top to bottom at it`s front centre. Luckily we have two toilets. Never before experienced anything like this.

Talking to my wife this evening about Montfort and she's not sure that many western kids go there - it seems it's mainly for Thai kids
By western kids, do you mean half Thai?
Sorry - yes half Thai was what I meant

This is an EXCELLENT question.
I now feel compelled to go research this for you tonight. I'll report back soon.
That's what I like - someone willing to put themselves out to find the answer to an all important question
Please verify your findings with photos and videos, etc

Both my nephews go to Montfort - the younger one is only 8 so a little too soon to tell but the elder one will be off to CMU soon and is doing well by all accounts

I used the official Apple repair centre in Kad Suan Kaew to replace the battery on my wife's Mac book pro and they did a good job - can be a touch slow and expensive as they order in official Apple parts from Singapore but they are happy to recommend cheaper alternatives
-
I would recommend following the nice and clear instructions for mailing in your report as detailed in Tywais' pinned post at the top of the forum - no need to do in person or via an agent

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Heavy rain in Santitham now - it's like someone has turned out the lights

We heard the fire engines go past last night and then the water pressure dropped.
A friend sent my wife a video and we could see why
I hope no one was hurt in the fire and that the traders can bounce back

If you bought it from the online Apple Store then it's probably been sent from Singapore so that's likely where you'd have to send it back to - did you check with any of the authorised Apple warranty centres in the pinned topic at the top of the page?

There is one near the roundabout in santitham - currently displaying skimpy Santa outfits
Santitham store now displaying sexy Chinese outfits ahead of Chinese New Year - I don't need a calendar anymore - I know the seasons by the outfits on display

It seems to me that some people cannot let go of the past
I'm not a member of the expats club nor have I been by I certainly think the current board deserve credit for turning it into now what it should have been in the past
The shysters responsible for the wrong doings are no longer involved, every thing seems much more open and above board than before so maybe people should just let them get along with doing what they do now instead of continually moaning about what happened in the past

Kawila Stadium, though fights are now not so regular.
Facebook page suggests 12th February for a 100,000B fight.
Also a stadium in Santitham, but I don't know the details. Lots of Thai vs Foreigner fights going on there,
There is a Muay Thai stadium next to the Tops in Santitham but I think it is a tourist show for the Chinese as it is next to the Ladyboy theatre that the Chinese tourists like visiting

Save your money and when you have enough, buy for cash, it is unwise to pay the high interest to buy those kinds of things on credit. Better to live without for a while.
I would generally agree with this statement but some stores do deals on purchases of white goods and electronic goods with various credit cards where you will get between 6 and 10 months interest free credit for the purchase - as long as I'm not paying interest on the credit card I'm happy to do things this way

Vision Center also gets the thumbs up from me - I went there for an eye test and to buy a pair of glasses as my glasses are getting a bit old. The owner gave me an eye test, said my eye sight matched my glasses and then wouldn't charge me for the eye test.
My wife was with me and decided she wanted an eye test and he wouldn't charge her either
The owner seems a really good guy - he could have easily sold us two pairs of glasses that weren't needed

Thanks for sharing this and thank to Nate's mate for making it

Happy New Year to NJ and everyone on CMF

My wife tells me these are two different banks and the nearest branch is in the old city opposite the main Thai Air office
