  1. So what does this mean to 3D HDTV owners?

(sorry if this sound like an advert)

If you already have a 3D HDTV you can watch the matches listed above via satellite (see the satellite details above) with the new HDTV set top boxes we have just released in Thailand (see the www.jsat.tv web site for more details) and the feed is free and in 3D HDTV. So no need to use the other payTV channels as that is just in HD not 3D HD and you own the box once you buy it, not rent.

  2. So 3D HD is alive and well on wild feeds and playing out live games from the World Cup free to view as well.

This is a major WOW if you have a 3D HD TV as it is free to view too. How do you know it is in 3D - simple it has a split screen with 2 HD feeds side by side and I am watching it here in Bangkok with the new HD boxes we just released into the local Thai market.

  3. Can I ask what package you have from True and what router you use?

Also, have you done a seperate test on pingtest.net?

    Tom.

True 16mb hardwired but all this testing is done here via wifi to my modem router so slower than a direct connection of course. My MR is a Cisco/Linsys WAG542G with the latest firmware running ADSL2+M

Re: pingtest - see my note above, this is not about who has the biggest pipe etc, it is about what you need to watch TV via the net from the UK. The reason I posted the speedtest data was simply to show it can be done (not to boast I can do it)

From my Router it shows right now (see below) - which is typical for a 16mb connection, and I am about 40m from the DSLAM which helps.

    Status:Up

    Downstream Rate:18847 kbps

    Upstream Rate:1199 kbps

  4. I am an expert. It's impossible. The physical distance alone at 2/3rds of the speed of light can't be covered in 27ms. Besides, you have 70 - 80ms to Bangkok, so go figure.

Are they cheating or is the speedtest just screwy? I don't know.

Not the has anything to do with the OP and this thread as a whole but, as an expert you should also mention that the ping times are effected by the True proxy caches etc and will always give inaccurate results.

I see little difference from these two American test points you mention

    846203253.png

But our Thai point of entry via fiber is in San Jose and is much faster of course

    846205750.png

    and in less popular / off peak times connections to the London go way up like this example shows;

    846206952.png

  5. Works good, but a lot of buffering on my 2MB net connection.

As has been said before many times in here, you want to ensure you have a local package from your ISP that gives you at least 4mbs download speed from the UK so you have no buffer.

    My kids link so they can watch CeeBees is like this;

I watch everything else in English via satellite.

  7. I asked a local satelite guy if I could switch it to K band and use it as a kick ass dich for UBC and he told me no way.

What a crock of poo poo that is, as your dish with a prime focus KU LNB will work perfect on Thaicom 5 Ku / Truevisions and other networks on there, period!

  8. Anyone using Astro in northern Thailand? Sounds more and more interesting! Is the HD signal 1080p or 1080i, or 720p? I need to find my way to a SAT shop soon, I am sure they'd know... a 15' dish is a bit out of the question for me though, tiny garden in moo ban.

1920x1080i - but someone forgot to mention that there are also 5 new HD channels for the world cup as well, and the signal gets real rough past Prae even on a 3.2m dish in SD so no HD I suspect up there.

  10. Those of us that were hoping that Supersport would leave the remaining channels on for the world cup have had their hopes dashed tonight when the last of the Supersports channels were turned off. Well goodbye to Multichoice... So sad

SS1 - SS7 are still there, SS2 is free to view at the moment, They simply deleted their old mux and renewed on one transponder.

  11. No such luck.

the WC will be shown on the regular free Malaysian channels and not their sports channels, with the exception of their HD sports channel.

An extra 5 dedicated SD (standard definition) and 1 HD world cup channels came up on Astro this morning along with all the schedules for each channel. Simply do a retune and you will see them.

  12. I am not sure how up to date this info is, but it is on their website today

    http://www.dstvchina.com/

A 3m dish aimed at the right place should pull the signal in, but getting the cards is another matter.

The information is from this link on lyngsat and they just cut and paste to their so called dstvchina site http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/mcafricaintel10.html and as many know already it is the same one everyone here in Asia is using, and it is not all working for everyone any more.

  13. Just read this on a Sattelite forum

It might be a wind up or a case of

PureWhere theres a will theres a way

Pure BS Soap, it is all a con.

99% of all the fake DSTV cards (gamma cards) died yesterday and all the originals only have 1/2 their services working since last night.

Ah well less than 3 days to go and it is all gone and those who have already changed are still on business as usual.

  14. There is nothing on AS4 these days after the HITS mux left. Only a few DVB IP data channels. So maybe this is why you can not find it. Use this link to see what is on what satellite - http://www.lyngsat.com/asia and set your receiver to an active channel shown on the lists, and then search the sky with your dish.

Also look at dish pointer to help you, it even has an iPhone app to help you more - http://www.dishpointer.com/

  15. Tv news blackout on its way, goverment to control channels

Any sat uplinks, to keep up with events?

This is old news now, but yes APTN were live in BKK all day on Asiasat 5 C Band on the channel names UP8Charlie

  16. All the listed networks and many others are still on satellite 100% and we have them all running here watching them. The source of their news in many cases is the APTN Up8Charlie network on the AsiaSat 5 C Band satellite. It is still playing out the fires down the end of Asoke as I type this.
