  1. I now have a 5,000 baht media player from Western digital with a remote control and 2 USB ports to plug in hard drives or flash drives. .

And this is a media tank (one of many) like I spoke of in the previous post. Add tversity to it and you are back to streaming iplayer to the TV..

  2. Yeh they use adsl2+

Speeds above are not bandwidth tests but router-slam sync rates on the router page and dmt tools so should not include the 15% overhead. The sync rate should be around 15900-16300.

My line attenuation is figures are excellent but let down by the snr. Anyway can't complain 13000 I guess.

Mine are and it works well in the house (not a condo) in mid Sukhumvit. This is via my wifi LAN and it is faster again on the local cat6 LAN.

    They use ADSL2+M here.

  3. If you have a graphics card in your computer with an SVGA outlet you can connect it to you televison and wathc it.

Or, you can convert the file to mpeg and put on a memory stick, plug it into your DVD player or television if it has aUSB port.

Or, burn the file onto a DVD as a movie and play

Or, if your dvd player is like mine it will read data files and play it without converting to a movie.

or if you have the lastest Asus notebooks or desktops, simply run an HDMI/DVi cable to your TV, which is what I do.

or use tversity to stream to your media tank (most models work) and watch it on the TV, the old way I used to do it.

  4. I just tried from Patong, and the speed was so bad I couldn't load the Speakeasy test at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

I reset the modem (just unplug and plug it back in), and the speed to San Francisco went up to 3.45 Mbps down, 0.21 Mbps up.

I posted the result at http://www.live-access.com/PhuketInternet....etInternet.aspx

For international users, for the last two hours the CAT IIG from BKK to planet in San Jose has been down, and just back up now.

  5. sorry, Those pictures from other thai forum. I didn't take it myself.

    1261286264056428200.jpg

This picture was taken with a DM HD box by the looks of it, and the DM HD boxes will no longer work with TrueVisions HD as they have already paired their TrueVisions card with their Truevisions reciever. Which means you have to use their set top box to watch HD. So I guess it is only a matter of time before they do it to all their SD channels as well.

  6. ^ VLC will prompt, have had it do so in Windows. However, I was only using VLC at that time.

    Regards

Never seen VLC prompt on windows, linux or OSX. Are you really sure you do not mean mplayer or the likes. I mean really sure?

  7. A Ubuntu questions I guess?

Just installed the current 64bit version on a system. Ran all the package updates, added VLC. Then copied a couple of HD files [1080p & 720p] to play. Was prompted in one case to add 264 support which I did. Then welcome to Stutter is Us.

I am surprised as VLC will never prompt for new codec nor plugins. Were you using mplayer or movieplayer instead?

  8. I pay for True's 8mb package, looking at my modem im getting closer to 14mb, for 1200b per month im not complaining !!!

Average DL speed for me is 1.2mb/sec.

    Mine shows on speedtest.net

    784149608.png

But on the thaivisa speed test to Bangkok (which is just wrong in so many ways)

Download Speed: 381 kbps (47.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 307 kbps (38.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Latency: 613 ms

  9. I brought the UL80v - comes with WIN 7 home Premium (as it is 64bit dual core), 9 hours battery life, wifi, and all the tools. Runs dual boot to linux perfect (which is what I use mostly) a bit more pricy at THB 19-21,000 depending on where you buy it but well worth it.

  10. Common as rocking horse droppings mate :)

The Amorn in Fortune (top floor) had some a while back, but it's really a European standard.

And all their outlets nationwide carry them or can get them in for you.

  11. From their web site http://www.bloomberg.com/tvradio/tv/asia/tv_index_asia.html

Bloomberg Television Asia Pacific signal will be encrypted from 11 April 2010. If you are unable to view Bloomberg Television after 11 April 2010, 1300hrs SIN/ HK time, please call our Global Customer Support hotline at +65 6212 1000.

EDIT: If you ring this number they will connect you to the Thai Office, who will tell you, that you have to subscribe to truevisions to keep watching it. A business decision their management made they say. So go figure.

  12. this footprint suggests you might be able to receive the Ku band signal from the China beam on a large dish around Chang Mai, but the rest of Thailand would not be able to get it.

But the DSTV Ku beam on Intelsat 7/10 is not on the China beam, it is on the SA beam, and new Eutelsat W7 satellite where DSTV Africa is going to, does not even cover all of Africa, so no chance here or even in China.

  13. Well I can tell you, for a fact, that he didn't get any email and the installation was due this week. He has now cancelled.

Apparently, JSAT were very recently still installing their Sports Package, using Multichoice. I wonder if they will be giving refunds now customers who will be viewing blank screens, however I'm sure there is some cleverly worded statement so JSAT are not responsible.

With the difficulties in the new cards and the lack of satellite beams seen by Thailand, we will see a decline in the likes of these installers, I'm sure. No bad thing for some of them, with their dreadful customer support and dubious dealings.

Where do you get this tripe from?

I can tell you for a fact there have been no installations of DSTV since the email was sent to all the JSAT customers and this can be verified by everyone reading this thread by simply calling K. Benjawan on 02.714.3594 (the owner of JSAT) and asking for confirmation on this point.

The reason your friend never got the email is because (1) he is not a JSAT customer or (2) he is a fictional charactor

BTW there was never any DSTV installation scheduled for anytime in March 2010.

  14. I can tell you for a fact the people at JSAT notified all their customers by email about the situation about DSTV in early FEB10 and in the same mail said they were stopping the sales of equipment and installation for this network which was THB 16,000 not a fortune. So your friend is mistaken if he thinks he is getting a DSTV install from JSAT this week or any other.

  15. Therefore...

160GB is massively outdated. Almost not even possible to get that small disks anymore.

The EG-r2a and the EG-r1 multi media players blow most other devices out of the water. The R2a can have up to a 2tb sata drive internally, run on wifi as well and the R1 can be used as a remote client so a multi room AV system is a breeze.

Having used AppleTV, the Popcorn and the WD this unit is not only cheaper but has more options (as shown below) and will talk also to your DM box if you have one on your LAN.

The costs are $99.99 and $129.99 for the R1 and the R2 devices - see the web site here https://www.onmp.com . I do not sell them but I should :)

  16. Yeah & you would need some special hardware to manage the packets - as stated above. From the 2 different modems. Certainly you would need two discreet phone lines. Google it.

    All he needs is;

    1. Another ToT line then use either ToT/CSLox/Buddy Broadband - his choice

    2. A Cisco/Linksys RV042 to put the two adsl lines together
