People don't have work or money at present, and if alcohol ban continue, who need holiday?
We are completely under water with work. Cancelling the holidays would have been a blessing looking at our tight timeline.

Have to wait another to have the three stamps, then I’ll also submit my application.

Unless they change the existing rules I can't see the queue even reaching the door, and that is with 2 metre social distancing.
Another empty gesture to try and make news. From what I know, they received enough applications every year. In fact, for many years the system was clogged with a huge backlog.

I think you must have three consecutive years of Non-Imm Visa and be on such Visa when you’re applying.

It seems to depend on the case and time and luck maybe. A good friend of mine got his PR rather quickly after submitting his application. Our ex-boss was waiting for it some years.
53 minutes ago, 4MyEgo said:Why would I even bother, it offers me nothing, I have Citizenship in my own country which is worth it's weight in gold.
PR is not citizenship. And it’s not true that it doesn’t offer you anything. You don’t need a visa for example.

Haha, an army of incredibly smart people equipped with a network of the best experts in every field, and then you have the Chaos Family with its illiterate doofus on top. The good thing is, he can always claim it was all his ideas, despite not even understanding half of the vocabulary they’re using.

What more products do they keep for themselves?
Trump doesn’t like too many Chinese imports.

The article was written and published some weeks ago when measures in Germany weren’t in place yet. During the same time when that article was praising hand sanitizer in public places, I saw posters on TV talking about having to give fingerprints at the airport without anyone cleaning the fingerprint reader. It also doesn’t mention letting thousands of Chinese tourists in over CNY.
Since a month now, measures in Germany actually are stricter than here.
It is correct though that Germany started too late. They were doing their carnival festival (which caused one of the first outbreaks) and hundred thousands were gathering in the football stadiums.
Anyway, I am surprised a five weeks old article of a local German newspaper is newsworthy.

Having similar issues with one of the other big electronic stores at the moment. Ordered online and went to pickup the same day (because customer service told me it’s ready). At the warehouse, two items were missing, and they told me it would get delivered to my place within a few days. I have learned to be jai-yen and mai-pen-rai here, and that normally things would get solved, so I said fine.
Until today I’m still waiting. Several calls and Line conversations didn’t produce any solution.
I also want to return one item using their 7-days-return policy and no one is able to help. My last Line conversation ended with me sending a detailed explanation of my order together with colorful icons indicating which item is ok, which items was not delivered, and which item I want to return, plus photos of the items from the internet together with a text that I put on it saying what to do with what item. Silence.
Does anyone know whether I can cancel the credit card payment over this? I always thought cancelling credit card payments is only for fraudulent activity which isn’t exactly the case here (in fact, I have received most of what I paid before because I picked it up myself).

The budget for the NHS is 139,000,000,000 pounds
If you started counting to that figure it would take you over 4,400 years!
It's a huge amount of money, the whole NHS needs an overhaul.
They pay top price for everything, from hospital consumables to something as simple as painting a room.
I applaud you for coming up with the creative approach of judging the appropriateness of a budget by how long it would take a person to count to that figure. Let’s nominate you to be our CFO. And may I suggest to fund the NHS with Laotian Kip instead? Imagine how long it would take you to count to those numbers!

Economy and a potential depression against a few thousand dead people and an election on the horizon, no brainer.
I would love to see that statistical model and the credentials of the underlying assumptions according to which it would be “a few thousand dead people”.
And I don’t want to see the economy when things go exponential.

What about the people you put out of a job? What will they do? What about people who rely on taking things to the market to sell everyday? What about all the SMEs that will collapse so very fast that families rely on? What about even the guy selling ice cream from a motorbike? What do you think would happen to those (and more) if this turns completely out of control, with millions getting infected, tens of thousands dying, hospitals breaking down, and people starting to panic? Do you really think those you mentioned would be selling ice cream and going to the market? Considering what we can see in other countries, I’m surprised that some still don’t seem to understand why such measures are necessary now, and...

How many western countries are that “compassionate”? I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the westerners who are now complaining about not being granted generosity, are the same ones who don’t even wanna have refugees get permits to stay in their home countries.

This ignorance and arrogance of some people in the west, mostly younger ones it seems, is disgusting. It’s not just the UK; in the US, they celebrate spring break; in Germany, they do Corona parties; and in Sydney, Bondi beach is packed. All that while in Italy they have to decide who may live and who should die.
I’m normally against anything that restricts civil rights. But it seems the free people in the West can’t handle so much freedom. Sad.

Complete nonsense. Would that be the case the response to Corona might actually be better. Same case for Germany, which is composed of federal states that in many areas of public life can decide autonomously as sovereign states, regardless of what Mrs. Merkel announces.
