I'v had mine since 2006, cant really fault it, long service intervals (18,000 miles) good fuel returns, i have mine chipped & tricked, it's now nearly 300 bhp (174 std) and i still get 38mpg on a run.

  3. What I said was, the baby's first birthday would NOT be such a joyous occasion.

But, does anybody know exactly what the law is on the issue of pregnancy and the death penalty in Malaysia?

From what I have read, the death penalty cannot be given to a pregnant woman, the sentance is "Life" in prison, this may amount to the same thing in a Malaysian gaol, however, if there is a prisoner repatriation treaty between the relevant countries, this woman may, if found guilty, serve her sentence in her country of origin.

  4. The US has 72 hours to appeal. I think exactly that will happen. If he is innocent then he has a good chance to get cleared in the States and to get millions of $$ in compensation.

I think that the US has not all allegation brought into the extradition request so to avoid that he will be tried in Thailand for one or the other case.

As far as I am aware, he has not broken any laws in Thailand, and therefore can't be tried for anything.

    (or am I mistaken?)

  5. Ok, here's an off the wall thought.....

Lots of Red shirted supporters turn up for the rally/party/whatever, all sporting Thaksin masks, speaker stands up, crowd goes quiet in anticipation of the revealing of the great secret.........

Speaker removes his mask to reveal that it really IS Thaksin!!!!!

Place erupts, Police/Army etc cant capture him because everyone looks like him with their masks on, Thaksin escapes back to Fiji or wherever!

    Just a thought.

  6. What a bunch of dim-witted censorious moralists!! You actually seem to think that the mere carrying of drugs is evil, and that taking them is terrible, and that this poor woman deserves this sentence. You obviously think that prohibition is sensible and right.

The "war on drugs" is an idiocy that has created most of the criminality in the world today and cost society untold billions and untold misery. Drugs should be decriminalised and state-controlled, with support and care for addicts. That policy would be an immense improvement on the current state of affairs worldwide (except in a few enlightened European countries), costing the whole lot of us far far less in taxes and suffering.

People who support the current drastic penalisation of drug-takers and drug-traders are simply out to lunch.

whether I, or, for that matter, anyone else "support the current drastic penalisation of drug-takers and drug-traders" is somewhat academic, as at the moment, the law is quite clear, or would you advocate anarchy as well?

  7. OK folks it is now ok to steal anything that takes your fancy because the owner of the business will increase the price so that it becomes economically sensable for you to steal from him .

Now that would mean that 1 night in a hotel would have to go up in price by the cost of 2 sets of towels 1 fruit bowl and all the light bulbs. The price of a bottle of beer would be increased by the cost of the soap dispencer in the mens room added to a couple of ashtrays.

Behave your self it is not me who is doing the stealing it is the thief so let the thief pay with either their hard earned money or with a bit of time in an uncomfortable jail then maybe the thief would THINK about their actions.

RIGHT IS RIGHT WRONG IS WRONG no need to value the crime!!!!!

Have to agree with you there!

  8. On the other hand, you could of course, learn to behave in an appropriate manner when in a foreign country, accept the culture of a foreign country, or just stay at home........

Whilst I would agree with you wholeheartedly I would ask; Why the behaviour modification just because a person crosses a line on the map? If people were taught to behave in a civil manner at appropriate times in their home country there would be no need for a change when they travel save for minor cultural niceties. A good half, if not more, of the problem is the breakdown of civility and respect in many predominantly western countries. The use of the 'F' word is so commonplace as, in many instances, not to even elicit a reaction so that it has become meaningless. Why should the rest of the world be expected to follow the west down that path?

    I quite agree.

  9. There are now A4 paper signs up in Bangkok airport warning of jail sentences up to one year for insulting behaviour towards officials.

I didn't want to incur their wrath so I didn't bother with a photo.

In light of this action by Thailand's immigration, I think all embassies should put Thailand on their list of places to avoid directly because of this. It should be highlighted that, regardless of civil unrest in the realm, the fact is, travellers (whether for business or for pleasure) are at the mercy of the whims of a gang of brown shirted thugs!

I would go one step further: issue a decree that if travelers insist on visiting Thailand they should sign a waiver of protection from their embassy in the event of a repeat of Simon's scenario. I accept that according to the information on this forum, Simon was abandoned by the British embassy for days before they verified the legality of his passport. Having said that, the brown shirted thugs kept him confined in quarters unsuitable for humans to the tune of 11 days!! Thus it should be made abundantly clear: come at your own peril as no-one can guarantee your safety from instant arrest which could translate into years of prison; in the harshest of climates and levels of comfort or worse, at the whim of anyone with the power to do so!

It is about time the international diplomatic community stepped up and acted on behalf of the world's citizens. This action should be condemmed at the highest levels and if that means banning the issue of travel documents and visas to Thailand (unless under extenuating circumstances such as a long term resident/expat etc) then so be it. It appears that Thailand is only influenced by money and any adverse effects on their ability to amass tourist dollars. Therefore, I say, cut-off their supply until they put their house in order and provide safe passage for travellers through their gateways.

On the other hand, you could of course, learn to behave in an appropriate manner when in a foreign country, accept the culture of a foreign country, or just stay at home........
