  1. Stanley Kang, the esteemed FORMER Chairman of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand ........ He's out of the loop, just saying ............
  2. Proof again, that they want the money but not the work involved in getting it. You want tourism money, then you will have to accept, that tourists will come. If there is too little or no tourism (and there is plenty of whining going on all over Thailand) then you complain. Once you get, whatever is left of the previous perfect cake you had, you complain over too many Indians, Russians or Chinese. Well, you messed it up yourself; 35 years ago I remember quality tourism, then you went for quantity tourism and now you have not much else to choose. You should have done it following the Bhutanese example, top quality tourism with top money; albeit Thailand would have had to be a little more "generous" but the tremendous greed all over your country brought you to the tourism abyss you're facing now and in the near future. So, shut up, start working, be polite and friendly and do not treat tourists like sheep on the way to the slaughterhouse - Nuff said!
  3. I have a complete set of keys to my property which is for rent. Upon moving a new tenant in, I put all those keys into an envelope and let the tenant sign on the back. So, if I ever break that envelope, the tenant knows. I had to do this as a tenant once accused everybody of stealing; luckily I could prove being out of town and in the end he admitted having made a mistake. Ever since = envelope time; never ever had an issue again. With electronic access systems (fingerprints, proximity card readers etc.) I would have it changed; the tenant must be informed if the landlord wants access to a rented property after the tenant has rendered the termination of the rental agreement to potential future tenants. Any other access outside this frame would present trespassing.
  4. Seems to become a standard slogan and tag line of each and every government of this country - still going strong after 40 years!
  5. The new boys on the block would earn incredible credit if they would tell the Chinese suppliers to forget the deal as they sold the Thai crooks in the past incomplete equipment. In all fairness, Thailand having subs is the naval joke of the 21st century. Since China cannot fulfill, the contract is broken - wondering how the exit clause reads in that pile of paperwork. Also pretty clear is, that the present German government will have to stand to its position of "human rights", "copyright infringement" and whatever other slogan they use to denunciate China. Germany's foreign minister's visit to China went very "unwell", to say the least, and her absolute ignorance for diplomacy and non-adherence to diplomatic protocol towards her Chinese counterpart resulted in the latter walking off the stage and the Chinese big banana also had no time to receive her - all of a sudden. It is Thailand's chance to get rid of this absolute waste of taxpayers money while putting the shaky club of parliament onto slightly more solid pedestal of honest leadership - provided this is on the cards in the first place ????
  6. Good riddance; the insurance thought might want to seriously investigate the "sparks". This place never made money and hence was yet another tourism-related loss leader. The people around that area praise the Lord as this endless avalanche of Chinese buses (loaded with zero-dollar red brethren from the North) clogged the roads around that "attraction" like what a single bulb does at night to mosquitoes after heavy rain - total traffic jam disaster!
  7. Depends on the RO system apparently. What certainly helps is a filtering system BEFORE the RO system. The carbon filter is not good enough, get a resin, manganese and carbon filter in manageable size and then carry on with an RO system. We keep the "waste" water from the RO in separate tanks and use it for the garden; no waste there. Of course in rainy season you might have an overflow of "waste" water, which we pipe into a on-property pond for some fish and ducks enjoying life there. No fish ever died and the ducks return to their habitat upon finishing their excursions on land ........ This has resulted in drinkable water all over the house, pristine clean valves, water taps, water heaters, shower heads ... the works; all looks brand new after years. Depends on your infrastructure and needs though. Apply common sense and then see the filter guys; otherwise they'll install a system which will allow you to filter the entire Mekong ........ 8-)
  8. I - for one - would rather care about the "food" being wheelbarrowed out of parliamentarians blessed troughs ????
  9. Naaahhhh, you cannot say that. You're only jealous that you did not make it to the trough .........
  10. By the choice of socks he wore when meeting the American ambassador it might be pink; like his necktie worn at the same happening ????
  11. That's where a former PM got "detronizzato" - that's what the Italians would call it ????
  12. The hosts definitely outstayed their unwelcoming attitude. Do away with the multi-tier pricing, call tourists visitors rather than "alien" or "dirty farang" and go, how neighbouring countries do it. If Cambodia would not be wild west, Laos would not be a slave state of China and the army would be out of Burma, then Thailand would be having even less tourists. Do away with this ridiculous bureaucracy making every government official sooooo important, grant the visa-free countries 45 days instead of 30 and the countries requiring visas to be processed professionally. Presently you can wait for weeks to get an appointment for a visa in certain Thai embassies and consulates abroad while some Thai representations neither answer the phone nor reply to email. The shorter end of the stick is always with the electorate taxpayer ????
  13. Chances are slim but there is the chance, that you might bump into the Swiss President in a check-out lane in a supermarket or another Swiss minister waiting for the public bus, sitting in a tram or a train. My conclusion is, the more banana-republic the more the show-off. If he likes a fancy car he certainly has more than loose change to buy all of his ministers such vans and, yep, some might be well advised in getting the bullet-proof version. Not all those ministers are as popular as they think ????
  14. They must have fantastic insurances as they all drive "decent" cars and, not to inflict bad omen or spirits, not one car has a "handicap" sticker anywhere. Thainess - explained and a Lao car followed suit at the car park in Nong Khai ............. selfish bunch of pirkcs ????
  15. Well, I've heard - literally - thousands of stories which worked the other way round ........... young stunners romancing rich elder farts ........... But, yes, I agree, you cannot write about all those Thai pussies and the farang gander - as the internet would collapse immediately - Nuff said ????
  16. Despite all this, the result is that Thailand has possibly among the poorest education system worldwide. I - for one - never found out, what these "teachers" are doing with the kids over 15 years at school/university apart from slapping, extorting and the occasional quickie ........ But, as an outgoing ambassador once said in his farewell speech to a chamber of commerce, when education was touched, he said that he had "the pleasure of serving under not less than seven education ministers" in various assignments all over the planet whereas his "tenure in Thailand was blessed with three of them alone". I forgot the ambassador's name but the statement remains a vivid memory .........
  17. Remember the captions in Bangkok Post articles when they published a photograph of a car accident? The caption always read "the driver fled the scene" .........
  18. Is this toad a general or a minister or what? Get the titling of this gentleman, best known for his little naps everywhere, right. As head of the National Water Command he had N I N E years time to get his act together but he must have had bigger fish to fry (pun intended)!
  19. Now that makes sense; get the very shaky house back home in order - or at least try it. He might not be around for the next ASEAN meeting anyhow .......
  20. Lock down the country immediately and hunt for those dirty farang who brought in the disease. What's next, the chicken cough or the buffalo fart?
  21. No issues with trannies yet there is a slight difference in body posture, only for those who attended biology classes back in the day though .......
  22. Recalls Obama's visit to Thailand having tea with HM while the Chinese President went to see the sitting Thai prime minister for advising the next few instructions from Beijing - clevell, these Chinese plofessionals ????
  23. A sad life came to an end; did he eventually manage to obtain British citizenship? He failed on various attempts, despite the loose change, reputation and his attempts to shoulder-rub with royalty. Maybe he knew, what really happened in that Parisian tunnel some 26 years back........
  24. The Chinese have always been the better chess players while good old uncle Joe is still roaming, slightly lost though, the lawns of the White House ????
