  1. Who is telling those pr1cks in the government, that the longer the more countries are abolishing masks all together? Or is it a very smart way of artificially shortening supplies (psychologically) so everybody leaving Thailand takes 30 masks since a Somchai-in-Chief has his little fatty fingers in yet another government-controlled till? Bargain-hunters, beware, make sure that you get your maximum allowed quota of masks prior to arriving at the airport as k1ngpower is overcharging that particular commodity as well!
  2. While waiting in the halls of the labour department and/or immigration, you might want to study the Labour Protection Act, in particular paragraph 118ff. Therein it is stipulated, under which conditions employments can be terminated and at what costs/consequences for the employer. Just in case your termination was not according to anything stipulated in your employment contract. But, as said, do this parallel to what has been suggested by other posters - good luck!
  3. "The cargo-in-cabin solution aims to optimize the cabin space of cargo flights,” the airline's executive Supoj said." May I suggest to give Khun Supoj the tour through the inside of an aircraft as the picture certainly does not show the standard inside livery of a cargo flight. The idea is not now though; I flew on Tupolevs and Antonovs in the late 70s/early 80s when the Soviets ran flights from Rangoon via Vientiane to Saigon and Phnom Penh. You could find all sorts of "cargo" in the passenger compartment. The more silent one was car tires and shoe boxes (with shoes I assume); on a Lao Aviation flight they managed live chicken in cages. Another beauty was Burma Airways with some Fokker-27 (or so?); they managed to tie two dogs on leashes between the cockpit and the cabin - never a dull moment! My strange feeling today is, that Aeroflot and (meanwhile defunct) Lao Aviation back in the day were better off than Thai Airways International today ..........
  4. Apart from the Coronaphobia by Anutin and his cronies we will see, what Pattaya's nightlife gurus have to say to all this and the (presently verbal) war of the rhetoric titans will go. It could be possible that there will be many branches of MagTonaldsAgoGo and KFC-Kum-Find-<deleted> "eat"eries popping up all over town to comply with the present rule of no bars, restaurants only. It is just me or what?
  5. With Western understanding of insurance, transport, accommodation and living expenses you can double that amount. If you don't reel in at least USD 100K a year, the air can get thin at times. Nice homeleave for a month on a yearly basis = add another USD 20K for tix, rental, accommodation and food. On top of this you slap 35% income tax; you're talking something around THB 4 - 4.5 million.
  6. Varawut Silpa-archa, another pristine follower of the Thai faith in politics? His father literally minted money in the 60s with infrastructure projects (rings a bell with Anutin's presence in the 21st century?), held more ministerial posts than most likely even he could remember and kicked-off the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 during his premiership in 1997. Varawut's uncle Chumphon left his marks in politics and Varawut's elder sister Kanchana, also blessed with political urges, was accused by the (then) opposition of having made a tidy USD 40 million when she sold land to the Bank of Thailand, purely co-incidental? Varawut's parents honored themselves with Thailands tallest tower, the Banharn-Jamsai Tower, hovering over Suphanburi - also fondly known as Banharn-Buri! Hence I tend to digest anything from Varawut's corner with the proverbial grain of salt; apples and to not fall too far from the tree - but exceptions to the rule are there ........ Needless to say that this invisible oil slick does not add value to land and infrastructure in the affected area and tourism will be toasted as well for a while .......
  7. Silly question maybe but why can you NOT extend a "non-B"? I was of the belief, that a "non-B" allows you to go for a work permit and a one-year visa?
  8. Get a professional opinion on this, the internet experts might not be the ultimate forum for this. A civil engineer/architect can easily assess the situation; some can be fixed, from others you want to walk away ....
  9. "Rayong-Chanthaburi-Trat link ... will boost logistics and tourism in these provinces"! I just leave it at that for everyone to digest slowly and nicely. I rather prefer the idea of the submarine port on Koh Chang, the planned airport in Nong Khai or Mae Sariang and the rocket launch pad in Umphang. Any other ideas are more than welcome to add salt against the bland soup called "reality"!
  10. Is it just me or is the question of "where does all this money have to come from" a valid question? Submarines, air force buying new jets, de facto bankrupt Thai Airways getting three brandnew B777 delivered (this time with First class configuration); there's Chinese pressure on the clowns to put that railway link from Nong Khai Southwards into place etc. etc. etc. Or are the printing presses all over the land on overtime? Latter is most unlikely, as the forex development speaks a different language - puzzled ????
  11. Blowing his own trumpet again ....... not known for any lack of self-confidence. Shoulder rubbing with the Swiss ambassadrice while calling them "dirty farang" - how nice of him. But yes, he managed to secure the extension of Suvannaphoum airport for his family's construction conglomerate and his latest show of force on the railway between Nong Khai and the Malay border could incline his desire to ink some more deals for his poor family's construction business. Never got the link between Public Health and infrastructure projects but then, who am I to understand ......
  12. ...... some organisations hand out "treats" to the police in envelopes ...... ....... possibly damaging the force further is a matter for some conjecture ...... Thailand's finest explained - thank you, you're welcome!
  13. Can someone tell me, who is the minister in charge of the Ministry of Inactive Posts please? Must be by far the biggest of 'em all. In normal countries such police officers would be fired on the spot, dishonourably discharged and see the slammer from the inside for a while. But then - define normal!
  14. ....."the entry procedures and requirements of the scheme may be slightly complicated" ...... The understatement of the century; thank you for this tag line!
  15. I'm sure the illegal Burmese, Cambodians and Laotians will be more than excited to hear the good news! Thais go to Saudi Arabia and Caucasians might opt for places like Singapore or similar as the entire bureaucratic environment is not alienating as in Thailand. The days of juicy salaries etc. are gone, so is the fun to work in Bangkok, traffic will crawl backwards anytime soon and a family with two kids in international schools can hardly make ends meet. Your call!
  16. Big defeat in Bangkok would have been the beginning of end for Prayut’s government almost three years ago if not for illegalizing one political party. In any other country (except Myanmar or North Korea) the elections would have had to be repeated as the Thai model of March 2019 nullified more than 6 million votes. The interesting bit though is, that there was no real uproar on the Thai government's understanding of "democracy" ........
  17. You can add a Zero to this figure; this oil aint going anywhere for a while ....... Just wondering now, how the TAT boys are juggling up some other marketing splash for them to look brilliantly great - as usual! Welcome to Thai beaches, the tan oil is here already (or something along this line)?
  18. Sacked and taking to justice - same terminology now? What happened to the other 80,000 crooks - assuming that 40% of the boys in brown are highway robbers, thieves, liars and cheaters. Once they are locked up, you can carry on the good work and fine comb the rest; I am sure that you might discover many juicy surprises - some of the proportions of the little Ferrari collector from Nakorn Sawan .........
  19. You do not understand Thai logic. Business was slow and now it is almost dead. All the while, the hotel owner wants to make the same profit as in the past. Solution? The fewer guests the higher the price - simple as that! You have to be out of your mind to fork out such exorbitant accommodation prices for hotel rooms which are worth 500 - 800 Baht and, considering the percentage of occupancy, will not explode upwards anytime soon.
  20. The geese laying golden eggs are all dead. A Thai citizen "of Indian descent" - the "Thai Thais" call them "Khaek" (แขก) and can also stand for a "guest" - derogative though. Dr Sanil's son though, for sure, knew all this but did not accept the fact, that he, irrespective of nationality in his passport, is nothing but a dirty non-Thai. Welcome to the club of "dirty farang" (where I fit in), alien or, as example proves "Khaek". It will fizzle away and the taxi mafia, a well known powerful little organization in Phuket and Pattaya, will carry on the good work of destroying the little tourism business; if not foreign tourists then lets hit on the local boys and girls! TAT, any suggestion on how to turn this into a story of success, brilliance and happiness and "all big misunderstanding" between the loving Thais?
  21. ..."paid middlemen 25,000 to 30,000 for the privilege of coming to work in Thailand." Nationality of middlemen known? Paid trafficking or what do you call this? To stay with the "overload" subject; it remains a fact, that my old vintage VW beetle 1960 is validated with 7 (seven) seats in the car registration book!
  22. Disgruntled and frustrated by the services provided by the boys in brown? I had more than frustrating experiences with them and had to twist some arms to get them to do the basics of a job they are overpaid for! Maybe the Udon approach drives the message home as well ............. or, as suggested, she has a tire shop and business had been sort of quiet lately?
  23. The hits are just keep on flying in - it seems. I - for one - wonder now, how the TAT will turn this manmade disaster around as yet another achievement of the glorious tourism promotion clowns. Unless someone hits the brakes hard and long, this country will slide further into the abyss of a failed state sooner than anyone would expect!
  24. Good on you to keep checks and balances of financed bikes. Some others, doing like you, referred to 450K and was published like that in the written media. For those in the know - Red is the colour of Ducati (and Ferrari as well, unless you're the grandson of the Red Bull icon). Combing through temples would, I guarantee you, turn up quite some surprises. While this pristine example of citizen good booted out before booted in, there must be many others who sneaked into orange robes as their "case" was not publicly steamrollered by social media as this particular case.
  25. The sheer fact that the TAT comments ........... French journalists on a freebie trip sponsored by who? In the past, travel agency and airline staff got invited to "familiarization" trips. Even cargo airline staff made it to Thailand and had fantastic <deleted>-ups in places less promoted by TAT ...............
