  1. Dealers and mules = death sentence. I promise you the number of the afore-mentioned will drop to a one digit percentage for sure! Once the children and grandchildren of the "phuyais" come down on drug addiction you might stand a chance of some improvement on the execution (pun intended) of the law!
  2. 1) life has a price in this country 2) after 100 days of Thambooning around, the cash will have disappeared 3) the CCTV is the government's responsibility but presently unable to fulfill its obligations due to some financial commitments towards three submarines 4) rear ending should mandate mandatory payment - as in Europe
  3. Nice to see some improvements then. Back in the day, the Sirindorn-office was manned by a crew of grouchy, grumpy officers, male and female alike. I really had to turn up my volume to get a standard re-entry visa done; they - seriously - expected me to file for it on Friday morning and expected me to be back to collect the passport coming Tuesday, as Monday was a holiday. My intention was to get the re-entry visa and proceed to Chongmek to cross into Laos. Once I took out the phone and started to take a video, which I commented, the visa was granted in less than two minutes.
  4. Once the booze ban is lifted all over the country you can safely assume that the figures will reach previous years' heights again ............ As long as you wishy-washy around with the law implementation you will not see any changes. Confiscate the vehicle at a juicy fine of 5'000 Baht and storage fee of another 5'000 Baht for a month in a "lighter" offense, bigger offenses command the destruction of the vehicle when the culprit is present. Trust me, that would ring in a whole new era ......... 12'000+ deaths on Thailands roads stands for a multiple amount of grieving family members, (heavy) interruption of companies over losing an employee and billions of damage payments by insurance companies. Could be avoided but there would have to be an intention to do something about it .........
  5. Dont lock anyone up, legalize and tax the stuff and get on with life. The "business" would be decriminalized but this would put some "phuyais" out of business overnight ....
  6. 2.3% of the workforce out of work according to Yanyong Thaicharoen? Really, 2.3% is absolutely nothing and actually means a total standstill in the employment market. Now, taking all those who lost the jobs, i.e. millions in the lawless "entertainment" industry, all those not recorded anywhere with the social security set-up nor never paid any income tax due to unwillingness of employer or lousy pay ........ there must be millions without a job being caught up by the family net somewhere upcountry. Fact is, that you cannot find unskilled, lest forget semi-skilled, hospitality staff working in restaurants. If you cannot find a junior waitress for 15,000 Baht/month then you might have to agree to the 2.3%. Bottomline is, that the semi-divine Khon Thai is just too lazy to work for money and rather opts for Somtam, Khao Niew and, provided a sponsor is around, some Laokao, Blend285 or Saengsom!
  7. Revoking passport would have been one possibility and if covered by another country's passport then get him extradited. The findings will be published after some of the pending issues will have expired. Good luck - carry on the good work - what a farçe!
  8. Saksayam Chidchob, offspring of the uncrowned ruler of Buriram, has spoken again. Well, in all fairness he might be right this time. The Sattahip-Songkhla ferry is a private operation and if it fails, it does not soil Saksayans untainted reputation. And smart, as he is, he might want to shoulder rub with the navy boys. A berthing for luxury liners and the three Chinese submarines - a world's first! Keep up the good work, the Thai people are forever indebted by your kind contribution to the gaiety of nations.
  9. A good man, wish him luck and if he is really smart, he just stays put in Phayao. Bangkok is too close to the music and many before him were failed - word to the wise!
  10. Does the vehicle have, purely co-incidentially of course, plates referring to car registration in Sisaket? Asking for a friend ????
  11. Hypertension is a matter of diet and exercise, fatty liver is again diet and no booze - both is easily arranged inside a prison. A cataract surgery is, today, an issue between two cups of coffee - the drawback is, that he will see the manure he is in much clearer now. How can such an oligarch pr1ck expect any compassion for what he did - the panther had neither hypertension, fatty liver and the animal's eyesight was not good enough to see this human coward's intension .......... fatal for the panther and non-fatal for this pristine example of a hypochondriac embarrassment!
  12. Wishing the Bank of Thailand governor the best of luck with this forecast but then again, Thailand has always been good for a surprise ....... on vera!!
  13. What the all-knowing Uncle Tu seems to omit is the fact that: - Thais can share a double room among 10 - some cooking is done on the carpets of the room - they bring their own supply of Mama soup, the Somtam gun and the sticky rice for the entire trip Those who could actually go on a vacation (by educational level) are short of cash since the country has been beaten almost to death over the last 18 months. Back to drawing board, Uncle Tu, and start planning on what kind of money you want to burn in the future, after submarines etc. Thailand will have a taxation stand-still for at least five years to come as those companies still in operation will be carrying forward losses you cant even dream about. And personal income tax = see above! Good luck to all ????
  14. So Zarathurstra spoke - or not. Lets wait, have a cuppa tea and read further first. Mysterious are the ways of the East ....... ????
  15. If I had 470 million I would certainly just enjoy the fruits of my savings. With a life expectancy of, say 30 years, it makes 16 million a year or more than one million Baht a month. That is without interest and compound interest. But yeah, a general receiving his year-end bonus for his dedicated work for the public and the good of the country, might opt for this money-parking option and whoever thinks of laundering now .... misunderstands what a soapy is for in the first place ????
  16. Flying this sector regularly; you need a vaccination certificate. On coming down the escalator you'll see the baggage belts to the left and to your right - prior to leaving the arrival hall - a few counters with the usual battalion of "health" staff walking around in transparent garbage bags. See Counter 1 straight away with your certificate and, if you speak Thai, STAY with English as the latter is hardly spoken. They look at the paper and then you're handed a tiny little piece of paper with a red stamp on it which you hand over to the staff upon leaving the arrival hall. In the other direction (Udon-Bangkok) nobody gives a rat's a*%e ........
  17. Well, at least the weather is lovely ..........
  18. Get it from the horse's mouth, i.e. immigration head office in Bangkok. To the best of my limited knowledge (I am a PR for 30+ years) you can apply for PR (permanent residency) after three continuous years in Thailand based on either marriage and supporting minors (kids), earning taxable income or a major investment of 10 (?) million Baht. Another five years, after being granted PR, you may apply for citizenship. In the past a non-Thai woman married to a Thai man could jump directly, i.e. without the PR sideline - not so for a foreign husband to a Thai wife. I never went for a Thai citizenship as the PR gives you all the privileges except buying land and voting ..........
  19. Well, here's the news. The prime minister and the governor of Udon will DISCUSS Udon's development plan in regards to logistics and transport systems linking Thailand to China. I hope the boys are aware of the fact, that the Chinese inked a commitment in 2016 to put the first ever train link between Boten (China/Lao border) and Vientiane onto the Lao map from the very scratch across 400+ kilometres with countless tunnels and bridges within five years. Not only will this high speed train open as scheduled tomorrow, 2 December 2021 but all the tests runs over the last few months have been completed - the train is ready to go and will start regular passenger and cargo services on 3 December. Meanwhile in Thailand - under the same government as Uncle Too has been in the driver seat for 6 ½ years already - you see one of planet Earth's biggest open-air museum of railway corruption. Completely antiquated rolling stock operated by a board of greedy daylight thieves in yet another most corrupt state agency - a state state of affairs. And these totally incompetent elected clowns are DISCUSSING developements on something the Chinese started 2 ½ years later, under much more miserable preconditions and finished the job in time? We will see, the Chinese made it crystal clear to see a high speed link from Kunming to Singapore by 2028. Tip to the Thai railway boys and the bigwigs hovering over them - stop blabla and get to work as you're running out of time.
  20. Well, it took 'em 15 years to figure that one out. A restaurateur is where between 11am-2pm and after 5pm-midnight? Shops with VAT bills sell only during these times. Distributors dont deliver below a minimum amount of, say, 8 - 10 cases of beer. Wholesale operators (i.e. Makro) dont deliver alcohol either. Result is, that the restaurateur is using the Mom & Pop shop to deliver, without VAT receipt, the restaurateur cooks the books as he - officially - never bought the booze. The rest is history, over this time span billions of Thai Baht were "lost" in transition. Stupidity in its finest form.
  21. Well, the ignition comes from home and is called education. The ministry of education's job is to provide material and facilities, train, test and hire teachers, set standards and goals. Latter then has to find active resonance at home again. Education happens at home while knowledge is provided by the school. In addition to all this, the biggest problem is that the Thai education system is pretty much a carbon copy of the US counterpart. They hammer stuff into the kids heads on a learning-by-heart basis. The Europeans though work on providing the understanding of common sense and where to look up things, i.e. how to get to (whatever) solution. I've lived in both systems and found the central European system (mostly with German-related languages) by far the best. Latter allows then to allow a choice of final education later on. Some teenagers carry on schooling and finish with an university degree or more while 90% are going through an apprenticeship; schooling accompanied with steady practical training. This might explain, why research and development as well as basic jobs like bakers, butchers, cooks, painters, carpenters etc. are in general best skilled when finishing an apprenticeship. Now, compare a Thai painter, who never ever had the chance to really learn all about painting various materials (wood, concrete etc.) to what an, i.e. Austrian painter after three years of apprenticeship. Comparison is not fair as the Austrian knows much more about paint chemistry, reaction to temperature, humidity and light impact etc. This goes, like a red thread, through the entire system. Basics though is primary and secondary, upon all the rest is based and that's where Thai rank rock bottom. Last not least; it is much easier to take an uneducated electorate for a big ride on the political merry-go-round. Last Thai round in March 2019 resulted in banning a political party which won 6+ million votes AFTER the election. In any other country the election would have been repeated ........ Lack of education combined with a rigid old-fashioned "Phuyai" social system - the result is called Thailand 2021!
  22. Well, what do you expect from 15 years of schooling - 6 years primary, 6 years secondary and 3 years university? To the clownery of education ministry, the clown-in-chief of the government = a tip to the hat for a job well done; you all deserve a silver medal. Keep up the good work and nosedive your country onto the least proficient country; only another 12 countries to beat and, after overtaking 99 I would assume that the remaining 12 are a walk in the park. Then you'll get solid gold medals - all of you politicians and crooks! This failed state is a doomed country and sadly enough it is what it is by the virtue by its own people voting for successive (s)elections of governments which ensured, that Thailand is in a free fall into the abyss. In one to two generations you're creeping on the floor and might understand then, that there is no substitute to education. The 1% sitting on 58% of the money will finally understand, that you cannot eat money and civil war is around the corner! You HiSo pr1cks; keep up your high noses, ridicule the dirty farang, the dark kaek, the hatred chaeks and everything else non-Thai. What a pity for such a beautiful country with mostly lovely people!
