  1. Could not agree more with the core of your message being "Jasmine rice of the past used to be much more aromatic than the hybrids". If you educate these farmers through co-operative programmes in their local lingua, explaining what "quality over quantity" means and let them also have the benefit ........ well, it did not happen and now it is too late. And if a traveller carries two kgs of vacuum packed risotto from Italy, it is either forbidden or not. In this as in many many, if not most other, cases some beer money usually does the trick. These guys stopped me not for avoiding hybriding their jasmine rice - most likely - me thinks!
  2. Me thinks: - all possible purchases and pocket-lining accomplished - nobody has anything under control anymore - the culprits are preparing for a tidy exit Lets see; I - for one - smell a big, big rat and letting Anutin and Prayut jump would throw back this country into medieval days. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing and if all was done in the best interest of the country, then nobody needs any amnesty. Latter being also quite fashionable among their African and South American friends who are equally dedicated to the cause!
  3. Thai Rak Thai = translates into "Thais love Thais" - quite evident it seems ....... One side is expressing its frustration over the endless government-sponsored raping of the country while the other side is full of all those "just doing their jobs"?
  4. Is it only me or do I see a further PR disaster in the making? The accused robbed her, the mistreating of the lady resulting in her death was in that case an issue of a second criminal? This can clearly get out of hands; next will be the tuktuk and the jet ski scams again - absolutely nothing learnt except that the word "sandbox* got an additional meaning!
  5. You quote "Thais see lack of foreigners as major factor in obliteration of tourism industry". Well, well, foreigners (dirty or not) see the PCR, ABC, XYZ testing of fully vaccinated people on arrival, the scams everywhere including forcing them into an ASQ - to be paid separately ...... an obliteration. Additionally government-sponsored racism, two-tier pricing, the total mess with countless different visa regulations, a completely outdated 90-days rule from the Vietnam war, a TM30 ruling in a country where not even half of their own citizen live at their registered address, vaccination for all ..... yet just not available and now running after an amnesty which they will certainly need for sure, etc. etc. etc. You want tourists, you want long term tourists, you want retirees sinking their retirement funds into all sort of millionaire investments? Then, my friends, put a decent government with the farsighted ability of treating everyone equally, welcoming people irrespective of race, religion or nationality in place and have the same government hammer in the message "cannot have your cake and eat it". Furthermore, chose wisely by professionalism and proven track of record and not by the ability to buy submarines, aircraft and airport extensions which will make the public health minister's company even richer than he is already!
  6. In a country where time is split into 4 x 6 hours, plastic bags, rope and hoses are sold by the kilogramme and batteries can be bought only by the whole box (Makro)......... How on Earth is it possible to work out the billion revenue by 15'000 passengers in 39 days? The Samui figure of 345 in the first two weeks is more realistic and you would have to ask every food-selling grannie along the road as well as possibly the pretties offering their services these days through Line and other social media platforms on the "real" spending. Stop wasting your times with obvious lies and tell the clowns at the tourism promotion board to get out and start doing something along the "promotion" line. All these statistics, completely overinflated, serve only to please the higher-ups who, in turn look good in the eyes of the even-higher-ups. Face, face, face ........ go figure and explain all this to the millions of people without income, starving along the Bali Hai beach in Pattaya or all those demonstrators who were fighting against tear gas and water cannons - while the establishment blew its own trumpet - again. Pathetic!
  7. I assume it is a fake. No company carries unpaid invoices through their accounts for six years; after the first year you move it to "deferred income", after five years latest it is to be written off. The law office Voraman Niti Co., Ltd. - as shown in the letter head you published - does exist in Bang Phlii/Samut Praakarn, see https://www.dnb.com/business-directory/company-profiles.voraman_niti_company_limited.57fde97f30dbc674592931faf459ebc7.html. It is more than doubtful that an ISP is using a tiny law office with - as per their own DBN-statements - four employees in the sticks of an industrial estate. And no professional would relay an outstanding, notabene six+ years old, of an amount of THB 1'700. I would just keep quiet; if more paperwork is arriving then ask them to prove non-payment, registered reminders etc. ???? Do not forget, you cannot prove a negative - good luck!
  8. Get a certified electrician (I use Swiss-run Sirimano Co., Ltd. in Pattaya, Mr Ilco, phone 085-277-0325‬) to look at the problem. It could be some loose screw connections at your PEA-meter outside, some loose screws in your fuse box - as far as what is "internal". As outlined previously, get someone who knows and "don't try this at home yourself"! The other, more likely, reason is, that they've been adding more and more users to the same power supply/transformer which eventually will see overload problems. Your 3-phase wiring outside the house is transformed down to one phase; if too many users are on the same supply phase, you get such irregularities. To protect more sensitive equipment (air conditioners, fridges, freezers) you might want to put a voltage regulator. Worst case scenario is, that said regulator will cut off the supply in case of low voltage. Inconvenient but will beware you of replacing compressors et al. Good luck.
  9. As suggested, clear the cache each and every time prior to log into those shopping platforms. You will have to "accept cookies" each and every time but your electronic footprint you left during the previous visit(s) will be gone. The browser also transmits details of how the platform's website is accessed with which browser and operating system. With airlines I found out, that accessing through a phone application can be cheaper than on a desktop MacIntosh; those little cookies are apparently quite a good investment -for the website operator - after all ????
  10. Demonopolize the rice trade and keep the government out of all this = the business will flourish and prosper. It will not happen though, so the "license holders" can continue to cream off whatever profit they want. Years ago I hand carried two kilos of Italian risotto which got confiscated upon arrival at Bangkok as I did not have the necessary paperwork, license or permit. Unlike other encounters it was not possible to shortcut the licensing with some beer money. Good on the officers but not only ridiculous on the regulation but quite obviously proof of "free trade"!
  11. Irrelevant on the subject but the reporting in this country is more than mind-boggling. Today's contribution in above article reads "deputy protocol chief of the Federal Assembly of Germany". Well, I did not know that the German parliament employs Swiss staff.
  12. Well, just make sure you do not teach the Vietnamese to add sugar and/or MSG into the dish. Decades ago it was a culinary delight, now it is a completely over sweetened, MSG-propped disaster in a bowl; not only with one but most vendors. Profitability prevails!
  13. "The driver blamed the road for being too dark and not having enough lights for the accident and not his driving skills." I - for one - could like to see only once a Thai to admit a mistake. Neither darkness nor insufficient light caused the accident, it was him, his missing driving skills or attention or his intoxication or a combination of any. Same with anything else which goes wrong. And yes, if it can go wrong then Somchai ensures - without fail - that it not only certainly goes wrong but that it is anybody else's but his fault. Welcome to grown-up Thailand in the 21st century! ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  14. Correct, this statement is correct. From 4% to 5% is "on the way to 70%" and any other word like i.e. "well" is a matter of interpretation ....
  15. I would have to cough up top dollars for political cabaret and good soap operas in my native birth country. Here the hits keep on flying in on a daily, twice daily and sometimes hourly basis - I just love the idiocy of all those crétins. Make him prime minister; other flour traders before him (though not convicted with free accommodation in Australia) tried before him ..... and failed. Under the given circumstances of how the leadership is raping this country, I am not too sure if the Captain would fail. Never a dull moment, we will see anytime soon; possibly sooner than some sitting politicians would fear!
  16. Wonders never seize; I assume the forecasters of the Tourism Authority of Thailand moved to the Ministry of Public Health ........... as said "wonders never seize" .........
  17. They are in the fast lane - again. F I V E business days to enter two lines into a yellow WHO vaccination booklet? No need to hurry that fast, me thinks! Ah, and yes, on the way out another 50 Baht are gone; you're welcome!
  18. The Minister of Culture and Fine Art should be told that Thais are World Class Masters in copying everything. In all fairness, it is a nice compliment to Cambodia. On second thought, Angkor Wat belongs to the world and its people - by co-incident it stands in todays Cambodia, a political denomination which was completely unknown a thousand years ago ..... when Angkor Wat was built. The Khmer folks is a race, Cambodia is a political denomination. You have Khmer, Bama and Yunnan gen prints in the Thai population; latter again is a political clarification. Get a life, be happy having a world's treasure on your soil, preserve it for generations to come and make the country rich in selling access and entry tickets, if and when that will be allowed again ????
  19. Well, here we go again .... now it is "sue each other to the end of the world" time again! The "government-to-government" deal only works, if at both ends you have professionals. In other cases, the MOPH/FDA approves a medicine (or food) and then imports, against proper paperwork and spot checks are permitted also by the private industry. As tanks and submarines are less in demand by the general public ............ you can let this piece of juicy meat on the bone to the hungriest of 'em all .........
  20. It might have to do with the location. Previously at the same or very, very close location there was a place called "Wood Box" or so. A culinary desaster and the "Fairy Sweet" thing lacks inspiration as well. Maybe call in the exorcists to rid the place from all those ghosts - latter eventually related to the neighbour to the right?
  21. "DPM Prawit calls for serious action against fake news" - well, maybe he should shut up and listen to the ever louder calls of the people calling for serious action to be taken by the government to move forward with this country. This might include clean-up of quite a few internal ranks, posting of proven professionals into the respective ministries and telling his governmental underlings to spend less time in Thonglor or sipping coffee at Phuket's beach and more at the desks for which they are voted into and paid for!
