Still have some of the lowest numbers of cases and lowest deaths from Covid 19 in the world, despite having one of the lowest vaccination rates......so they must be doing something right.

How about comparing UK, America or your home countries figures before saying how poorly Thailand is handling things?

The question is "How would you rate Thailand's overall covid response?"

Why the festering hell are you wobbling on about UK, America etc? Cheeze, some people.

  2. I actually enjoy walking or cycling around the golf course most days. The days on which I have to do something else, I really resent because I love gentle exercise in the fresh air so much. I also enjoy gardening in a way, but more for the feeling of satisfaction afterwards than actually taking part. Can't think of anything better than walking or cycling in the sunshine. Even the occasional rain's pleasant. Even if I don't get an extra day of life from it, at least I've enjoyed myself doing what pleases me.

am I missing something, should this not have been policy from the start ?

    If not why not

The fools are going to come crashing down the first oportunity the Thai people get and I hope what ever wealth they have accumulated is stripped from them and they and other connected cronies are thrown in jail.

I guess your no longer a fan of the generals in suits. I hate to say I told you so, but .........

  4. Never mind the lowly British Consul coming on here to answer questions, probably no more than a Grade 9 with no sway at all. Somebody has to get the gash job, it won't be a senior grade. I'll tell you why the Brit govt won't send any vaccines to help it's tax-paying citizens here, it's because they don't want to upset the Thais by making them lose face over making such a mess of things.  The British will always put the rest of the world before its own citizens, at home as well as abroad. Which is why they let the Indians go home to attend huge weddings and religious ceremonies, only to return and bring the variant back to the UK with them. Any country with a concern for its own would've closed the doors on them or anyone else likely to be a danger to its people.

I sent an email to the Consulate in BKK voicing my concerns that they have abandoned US Citizens living in Thailand.

If a person has left their own country for greener pastures/paradise, why should their government be obligated to provide vaccine to them. Your thinking is flawed here.

In my opinion, Thailand has no intention to make vaccine available to foreigners.

This statement is very wrong. Since June 14th foreigners who managed to register on the 'intervac' site have been getting vaccinated everyday at three Bangkok hospitals.  Estimating from the day I was there last week, and from other reports, this number is probably up to 15-20,000 already.

Even when a person is still paying full tax to his home country and is still a citizen of that country? This is an emergency situation, it's your thinking which is flawed.

This may be the case in Bangkok, but elsewhere we are getting appointments on the Intervac site for 1 Jan 1970, or more recent being told that the booking list is full. The local hospital in Pattaya who has my docs told me that they have no plans for farang, but don't have any vaccine anyway even for Thais. None of the private hospitals have vaccines for us willing to pay. C'mon Mr "This statement is very wrong", tell us how to make things right.

So many untruths in this article is difficult to know where to begin.  8.9 billion baht ????

But the above really shows how delusional these people are. The UK is far more likely to move Thailand from amber to red with the current worsening Covid-19 situation and the pathetic vaccination program.

Yes, their vaccine rollout is pathetic. I tried the Intervac website again today (a daily task) and it's still closed to new registrations. Seeing I was given an appointment date of 1 Jan 1970 which I didn't turn up for incidentally, I suppose that gives them the right to write me off.

Majority in Banglamung (85 at least) are from construction camps which are now sealed off. Do you want severe punishment for them or think they don't care because they are doing their best to earn a meager living?

Well I would say that construction camps are more of a danger than restaurants selling beer, but you could argue that one lot are trying to earn a living, the others are just enjoying themselves.

How many Thais and how many foreigners.. no mention about that .. probably more Thais than foreigners. Besides Pattaya want to open for tourists.. this is good for tourism in the sandbox. more jabs and more arrests. How can we kill tourism

The second, bigger place, was on walking street and was full of shisha pipes, so I can guess where those guys were from.

very simplistic view - I would agree if this was 1890 but that is not were we are - in the past plagues (pandemics) have killed millions upon millions of people - thanks to science we have moved up a step from that but it is still not easy to implement solutions that take time to develope - Thailand current governemt dropped the ball on this for numerous reasons but they are not correcting it even when faced with colossal failure - they will be counted

Shame on those who were cheering this lot on when they first grabbed power, eh chief? Waiting for the apology.

they shouldnt do it because its not their business

individuals outside their country must surely organize their own healthcare... or return home

France are the only nation doing this ......at home -based French taxpayer expense no doubt.......

perhaps they are offloading those millions of perfectly good unused AZ vaccines , before expiration, a stockpile that Macron created, stupidly & jealously saying AZ was no good........

Surely you've seen the hundreds of post on here from farang trying to organise their own healthcare, but are unable to access a website for registration or find a private hospital with vaccines to sell. The truth is that there are very few vaccines for foreigners and it isn't asking too much of our govts to provide emergency vaccines in this situation. By the way, I pay full UK tax.

Phuket & Bangkok Expats now getting vaxed with AZ.

other tourist regions then non- tourist ares to follow soon surely.......

and why exactly should embassies start providing mass medical services ?

they provide passport related documents & emergency services for individual citizens in great distress like prisoners or severely disabled.

if not satisfied with medical service here, go elsewhere for that.....

Didn't take long for the first "if you don't like it here, go elsewhere" post of the day. Cheeze, some people.

It all depends on each individuals situations of course, but this seem overly complicated compared to a short trip to the Immigration office, 5 minutes procedure, then a lazy lunch with the family, some shopping and then back home, something you would do anyway at some point in time during the 90 day period.

Depends where you live. To the OP it's half a day.

    you haven't seen anything yet

with Alpha and Delta now surging in Thailand and your government messed up on effective vaccines ............................................ it really goes down hill from here

people in Thailand should be demanding that heads roll right now for this very obvious cluster

Time for Prayut to resign and Anutin to face charges of unusual wealth and incompetence

They all deserve to be jailed

how on earth the Thai people are putting up with this is quite shocking

Hate to say we told you so chief, but.......

Seriously, the British Embassy should get off their backsides and arrange something similar for UK expats.  You might think that they would be shamed into doing something but I guess that the chances of anything happening are slim to none!

All the Brit govt wants to do is to take our taxes off us and give beggar all in return. If we can't get free healthcare on our visits there, I can't see them offering free vacines out here.
