You could do your extension of stay and 90 day report on the same day. You can apply for the extension up to 30 days early.

No reason to wait until your extension is close to ending since it the new one starts on the day the old one ends.

You can get the letter from the bank the day before you apply.

Immigration will be open on the 11th. Loy Krathong is not a official holiday.

"No reason to wait until your extension is close to ending since it the new one starts on the day the old one ends."

Not at Chonburi Immigration. My renewal date was 8 October, but I did it on 10 September. My next renewal date as per the stamp in my passport is 10 September 2020. This was my first marriage extension, previous retirement extensions which I always did a month early were always stamped a year from the old date.

  2. The Thais even blur out kissing in foreign movies so that's the kind of culture your girlfriend is from. Maybe she imagines that you'll think her a loose woman if she kisses you. It took ages for the wife to even hold my hand and she'd been married before (to a Thai). I had to feign losing interest in her to make her come around. We've been together now for 12 years.

Americans certainly have more issues with Thai banks. I opend an account at a rural branch of Bangkok Bank and the manager popped to ask if I was American. I replied that I wasn't and he said "That's OK then......... we don't like Americans"..

I was slightly taken aback but was aware that Thais can be direct (to the point of racist) at times.

It's because Thais don't do PC. Just like the western world not so long ago before we became brainwashed.

Maybe he should start with the corrupt Thai visa agents who get "back door" extensions for expats who don't have enough funds.

Why? He knows who the people that use the agents are so that if they offend he can go straight to them. He also knows that they're unlikely to offend after paying a substantial amount to the agent and they also pay his tea money.

Then why is there insurance for a Non-O-A either? Both have the same financial requirements...

Has this all been (yet another) exercise in nonsense? Like the nosy information form? Or, is this even more wrong information?

If Thailand wants to be taken seriously, then it needs to be serious; at the moment, it seems to be a third-world, banana republic spouting nonsense entity.

It is not a good look...

My understanding is that Non O-A need to have the equivalent of 800,000 baht in a bank in your home country, whereas the Non-O requires the money to be in a Thai bank and therefore available for medical treatment payments if necessary. I could be wrong.

  6. In my opinion there are three ways to drastically cut down the road deaths here and improve the standards:

    1)   Strong deterrents.

    2)   Strict enforcement.

    3)   Willingness to accept advice from countries who have proven road safety record.

However, these are meaningless whilst corruption is rampant.

Nah, logistics would not be such a big things, due to that a branch of the bank probably will exist in almost the same area.

Not to put you down, but it can not be a reason to complain just because you can not be the first in line.

There you go again! At some IOs you have to get there early or risk not beeing seen to on that day, either that or have a long long wait. Some banks (my branch doesn't open until 10.30am) don't open until mid-morning. If we were all perfect like you this wouldn't be a problem, unfortunately we're not. We all manage, somtimes with difficulty to comply with these rules in order to stay here, but it'd be a better experience if people like you wouldn't keep making smart alec comments. You're just a WUM in my opinion and I've now blocked you.

I am here on a retirement visa (2nd year), have lived in the same location the entire time. I have left the country 3 times and travel all over Thailand for 2 and 3 night stays at hotels all the time that report my stay. When I recently renewed my retirement visa (in Bangkok) I was only asked to show 1 TM30 receipt that my landlord filed (over a year late) to validate my lease and no problems occurred. Why do so many other people have issues?

You tell us. I filed one TM30 a long time ago and have never been asked for one since until my last marriage extension a few weeks back at Jomtien, when I was made to go to the the desk and file another TM30 before they'd ok the extension. This I did ok because I haven't left the country since my first one. Just goes to show they can get you to do one out of the blue and if you aren't in compliance with the rules, they'll fine you.

They are doing exactly that. They have a perfect plan how this is going to contribute to the welfare of many officers. ????

Did anybody really think they were going to do something that benefit the complainers? In that case, sad, sad, sad.

Nothing to worry about. I always carry my TM30 receipt stuck to a page in my passport. Easy peasy!

Until you have to leave the country/province and then have a three hour return trip to your local IO to report that you're back, within 24 hours of a long journey. Don't mention the online registration, we're still waiting for confirmation. Never mind, you think it's "easy peasy", same as you do everytime someone complains on here about Thailand problems.

Oh well, the info i got is there at the start of this Thread....take it or leave it. It may be of use to some members...

Just follow Ubon Joe's leads...he has it spot on....

The moral of this story is post helpful information by all means, most of us are grateful for it. However, you have to be prepared for the unappreciative replies, as though you're trying to sell something. I sometimes use my time and effort to post info that I think may be helpful, but I never stick around to argue the toss. Take it or leave it.

For my "O" extension I've had 400K in the bank 3 months in advance for years because I was told some immigration officers don't accept the 2 months. Did anyone had a problem with holding it only 2 months in Bank?

At Jomtien they only require proof of 2 months seasoning, plus they didn't ask to see bank book when I returned for stamp after sending for approval to Bangkok, so if I'd wanted, I could've spent the 400k straight after the interview.
