What a disaster, The should have went with a hard Brexit right away. By now they would have been well on the way to recovery and have lots of new trade deals.
Of course the globalists wouldn't have it.
Blame the remainer dragon lady for that.

Blame the remainer dragon lady for that. The worst PM in Tory history.

Last place I visited was in Kanchanaburi. I gave a very truthful and critical report on the place on the Agoda website, listing both the good and bad points. The bad way outnumbered the good I have to say. The people who made previous reports must've been weary of being sued because they were all positive, which is why I chose to stay there. I ended up leaving a day early it was so bad. I think it's only fair to the people who follow you to be truthful in your reports.

Did my 1 year marriage extension on Wednesday 11th. Immigration phoned on following Tuesday afternoon to say that they were going to pay a visit the next morning morning, Wednesday 18th and to ensure that we had a witness present with copies of her ID and housebook. Three IOs turned up in a minibus, had a chat with the wife and witness whilst checking docs and took three photos outside house with us and witness. Invited them into the house for a coffee, but they politely declined and went off to their next call. Couldn't have taken them more than 15 minutes from arrival to departure, so very painless experience.

Smoked for 35 years, quit 28 years ago. Best thing I ever did, wish I'd done it sooner.

Did my ext last Wednesday. They said they were going to visit us before Friday, but that they'd phone first because the wife teaches full time. So far we haven't heard from them.

These people are being undemocratic and incredibly selfish by wanting to remain in the EU for their own benefit rather than that of the UK. What these expat protestors don't seem to realise (or maybe they do) is it isn't Bojo they're shouting insults at, it's the 17.4 million democratic leave voters who took part in the referendum. The PM's just attempting to carry out their wishes. No wonder us expats don't get much sympathy from the UK govt and citizens.

At Jomtien I got my bank letter the day before and that was ok with TI. Just make sure you update your bankbook on the day of visa and ensure you get two copies of pages covering seasoning period. As for documents, it doesn't matter how many you have you'll still be running in and out for copies.

I did my last 1 year extension based on retirement at Jomtien Immigration in May this year.
I had the first number after lunch and the required documents.
1.01PM my number came up. I handed over everything to the woman at desk 8. She went through them real fast one by one, I had to sign twice and she asked for 1900 baht then she gave me the number tag for my passport pick up next day. I stood up and checked my phone, 1.04PM. That was a new personal record.
After exactly 90 days I went there again for the so called >800k 90 days check. 2 copies from my passport and 2 from my bankbook. No number was needed so straight to desk 8 and handed over the signed copies to the girl behind the desk. She looked at the copies for maybe 15sec (in total), looked up,smiled and said "You can go now". ????
It was the same for me the previous 12 retirement extensions, but since my embassy decided to stop issuing letter I decided to go for the retirement extension, which as I found out, is a lot more involved.

No fine for no TM30?
No, but I haven't been abroad since I last registered my address and I don't think my few trips out of the province were reported. I did submit a TM30 a few years back but lost the slip, maybe that's why she sent me to counter 10.

i understand your feelings..its so lucky that you had your wife there to assist...
next time you go ...they will probably have a new list of requirements...
no wonder so many of us prefer to use an agent...its far too degrading having to deal with the immigration people.
i seriously think that the 'obstructions are deliberate, they prefer us to use an agent, so that they get a 'kickback'...pocket money...
last year my agent managed to renew my visa in under 2hrs total, by using ALL the exact same documents to immigration, that i had shown, earlier in the day---but they demanded embassy letters etc...
"next time you go ...they will probably have a new list of requirements..."
Can't argue with that. Hopefully I can save the extra money to get back to the retirement extension, but as you say, there will probably be some other strings attached by then.

We had a referendum already. Leave won. Still waiting for parliament to take us out. Pointless having another. Anyway, remoaners would only honour the result if they won.

Isn't parliament always proroged before the Queen's speech? What's next, make all PMs take a lie detector test every time they make a decision?

My son saw a cheap deal flight + hotel to Pattaya with his son and I told him to go somewhere else, filthy beach and sea, ripoffs, sex trade everywhere, try an island. he loved Koh Samet.
Depends how old his son is. Both my grown boys love Pattaya, as do I. If you're after pristine and quiet, stay in the west.

Unless something has drastically changed at Jomtien immigration, you dont need a TM30 to do long stay extensions or 90 day reports. They usually want a TM30 for tourists getting a 1 month extn etc.
If you ask at the front desk they just presume everyone needs a TM30 done and point you to that counter.
Whilst doing my one year marriage extension yesterday, after the paper-shuffling at counter 6 I was sent to counter 10 to do a TM30 and get a slip to take back to counter 6 before they'd continue with my application. It was my first marriage extension, but in my previous 12 retirement extensions, I never had to do this. Never been mentioned in any of my 90 day reports either.

Tuesday. Went to Krungsri Bank branch in Jomtien for my letter. My account is at the Central Festival Mall, but that didn't present a problem. It took an hour from walking into the branch to leaving with the letter (I had to go walkabout for 30 mins whilst waiting for it to be processed). I also got a statement of the last three months activity, which I didn't order and had to pay for, so make sure you stress that you only want the letter. Cost 100 thb each.
Wednesday. Revisited Krungsri branch to update passbook (deposited 100 baht) and decided to get an up-to-date statement as well, even though I was doing the 400k in the bank method. Got a copy of the statement and two copies of the last page of my bankbook from the shop outside the IO.
Entered immigration at 10am and my number was already on the display at counter 6, so straight to the desk. I had two copies of everything, plus originals and a few extra bits and pieces just in case. The wife was sent out to the copy shop on a couple of occasions for more copies of the passbook pages and something else which I didn't catch.
After loads of paper-shuffling and asking the wife questions, thought we'd finished, but were then sent out to counter 10, the dreaded TM30 desk. There we were asked for the house blue book and the wife was sent out for more copies of said book and her ID card. Was given a slip and sent back to information for new number for counter 6.
By that time there was a small queue and when our number came up, we were passed to another lady who did a load more paper shuffling, asking the wife questions and sending her out for several more copies, of what I don't know. I also had to fill out three extra forms. When she was finally happy that she'd accumulated enough paper, the wife was asked for the name and phone number of a witness and told her that officers would visit by the end of this week and that they'd telephone to let us know when. I also have to return in a month for confirmation. We then went upstairs to register for online registration for TM30.
It doesn't matter how many copies you take along, you'll be sent out for more. I had two of everything and thought I had it covered, but my poor missus was in and out like a fiddler's elbow getting extra copies. Make sure you get copies of the last two or three pages of your bankbook covering the seasoning period, not just the last page. Luckily, I had filled in a couple of TM30 forms and got the wife to sign them, because they were needed at counter 10.
Altogether, not a completely horrendous experience, we were "released" at about 11.15am, but after 12 previous hassle-free 10 minute retirement extensions, I think I'll be saving my pennies to get back to that method next year if I can. There are probably bits I've missed, for which I'm sorry, but my old brain tends to become a bit addled when it receives a bureaucratic battering, such as was the case yesterday.

Lucky I prefer older women, a fetish I developed as a teenager. I saw some very attractive ones working in the open-faced bars last night, but the wife was with me so I couldn't tell them so. I might add, that at 75 my older women preference doesn't mean older than me, it's more like older than young hotties. The wife is 49 which is plenty young enough for me.

Why go back to pick up passport the next day?....
The last few years had to do that at Jomtien too. Previous several years you collected it after lunch the same day if you visited in the morning.

VE or TV entries are designed for Tourists.
If your staying in Thailand throughout the year using these methods, then your not a Tourist by definition.
There are other options available for those who wish to stay permanently in Thailand.
It's just a warning to have plan B in place.
Many reports on the forum of foreigners being denied entry or TV's because they are adjudged to be spending to much time in Thailand under the pretence of being a tourist.
Not wishing to split hairs, but I thought that every farang in Thailand was a tourist. There can't be many who've been granted citizenship. When I fill in my extension form I always put "holiday" in the reason for extension. When you think of it, when you're on a one year approval that's all it can be.

UK Conservatives hold significant lead over Labour: poll
in World News
Posted
There are only two truly democratic parties in the UK, the Tories and the BP, because they're trying to carry out the will of the people, whereas the others are trying to buck it. The people will always have the last say and this is being shown in the latest opinion poll. In all the reports in the media, the one thing which never seems to be mentioned any longer is what the majority of the people voted for, which was to leave. Whether this is good, bad or indifferent, it's what the people want and these wishes should therefore be carried out. If I were Boris, the next time someone tried to criticise me over Brexit I'd say "I'm just trying to carry out the wishes of the British public as per the result of the democratic referendum". Bu-bum!
