Went to pick up a couple of kor ror 2 from the amphur Sattahip this morning. So I thought I'd give a quick rundown. It was my first visit to Sattahip for about five years and there was a lot more vehicle traffic around the area, not helped by the many road alterations going on. On arriving at the amphur office we were surprised at how busy it was compared to our last visit. which was to get married ten years ago. The information desk sent us to a chap sat at a desk beside theirs, who told us it was the wrong desk and sent us back to information. Good start. My wife explained again what we needed and they gave us a ticket. We waited about 30 mins until our number was announced. The wife showed them her ID card and they quickly produced our two documents and pointed us to the desk of the head honcho in the corner, for which there was a big queue, but the desk was unmanned. After about 15 mins the geezer appeared and we finally got his signature. The boss man then sent us back to the desk which we'd just come from for a stamp I think. By then I'd lost the will to live and gone to sit outside to wait. Wife went back there and got the final stamp. Could have been worse I suppose, but not the doddle I'd been led to believe it was going to be. The whole excercise house to house took about 2 hours. The good thing was that it only cost 20 baht for both certs. The bad thing is that I'm going to do my first marriage extension using the 400k in the bank method at Jomtien next Wednesday. Just the bank letter and passbook update to do on the day. I'll let you know how it goes.

(Probably 27% of those would probably have voted to leave anyway.) Therefore the majority of the people eligible to vote voted to leave.

The people have voted to leave. Parliament has voted three times against a deal. The EU has said that it isn't willing to renegotiate this deal. Unless you want to keep extending the leave deadline (which is to remain in another form) then the only option is to leave and attempt to deal afterwards. This is what I, and I'm sure most leave supporters voted for. What's your democratic solution?

Philippines is my back-up because I would be paid my full index-linked pension, on which the index-linking stopped when I decided to live here. It also has a lower cost of living and their currency isn't as strong as the baht, hence better exchange rate. It's only a very loose plan because I have a Thai wife and stepdaughter here and I intend to cling on as long as possible. I do think though that one day in the not too distant future, the Thai authorities will make it impossible for me to remain.

Food for thought there. Thanks for taking the time to post.

I bet no one asked if it is Big C that wants the number, or if PEA asked them to ask for it. Just the ordinay complaining. If it´s not TM30, then it´s the phone number in Big C.
The Daily VDO rext messages are something you get for you, your wife or your kids registered or downloaded something from Internet, sometimes Youtube and it´s Google that gives them the info, or Facebook. Probably registered the phone number somewhere and maybe even saved it for easy fill in forms in computer too.
If you want to take it that way, up to you.
You must give me the number of your rose-coloured specs provider.

And whats the problem. Just give them what they need and pay the bill. Why must everybody make a hay stack out of a straw. Beginning to believe that most of the population gone haywire.
Because it's none of their festering business. By using their shop to pay bills I normally buy a few things whilst I'm in their, which I assume is why they offer the bill-paying service. Snooping isn't part of the deal.

It is implicit that they can choose not to take it. Buffoon BJ seeks to prevent MPs from undertaking their duty in respect of the referendum. That is what is undemocratic. How would it be in the national interest to allow a no deal brexit when all the evidence suggests that would be a major disaster? Moreover (a) the referendum result was achieved with lies and fraud; (b) the promises held out in 2016 cannot be met; (c) 2016 is 3 years ago, since when we have a different and we hope a better informed electorate; (d) BJ has no mandate for no deal or indeed anything else, having been chosed by a miniscule group of unrepresentative people.
On the contrary given that parliament has voted against a deal on three occasions and the EU refuse to renegotiate, I'd say that Boris has the perfect mandate for no deal.

There's nothing to discuss now that the people have voted to leave the EU, apart from the remoaners wanting to have a whinge.

Makes perfect sense.
There's nothing for parliament to discuss anyway, the people voted to leave and the govt are taking us out on 1 Nov.

When I built my place I was told 1 metre from the boundary wall providing there were no windows on that side, otherwise 2 metres. Going by that I should think that their platform should be no closer than 2 metres for privacy reasons. Of course in this place money talks so you can't really say that any rule is hard and fast.

Seems to me that the big problem has gone now from not being able to get the embassy letter for your extension based on monthly income to not being able to prove that your transfers came from abroad. It appears that you either have to make a swift transfer which is expensive over the 12 months, or rely on TransferWise and hope that all the transfers are made direct to Bangkok Bank and don't come via TMB or Kasikorn. My plans were ruined by my July transfer going via Kasikorn, luckily I had a contingency plan in place by having 400k in the bank so I could reluctantly opt for a married extension. It wouldn't take much on the part of TI to show a little latitude in the case of one or two transfers not coming direct to BBL and accepting a printout of the TransferWise dispatch notice. But there again, less people would be forced into the hands of the agents in that case. It's all about money in the long run.

We aren't immigrants to Thailand and are here on 12 months approval only. You can't compare us to EU citizens in the UK, it's chalk and cheese.

Those rose coloured specs of yours are still making you a pain in the backside of this forum. The reasons most people remain is that they can afford to, have property they can't sell, or they have Thai wife and kids. Now take your pointless post and go annoy someone else.

Well, what I mean by asking for help, is there is a way to get a discussion about a bribe going. The officer is not going to demand it straight out. But it might be cheaper than 25k to an agent. The boss has some discretion and can let this go, the agent forwards money to do that. Can I pay a fine to overlook this problem this time because I am sick and can’t travel?? Blah blah?? Have wife call and ask??
So maybe for 2000 baht, or I don’t know the price, he will let it go? Some Thai people know how to start these discussions, some Westerners do too, try asking your wife or if you have a male friend who is better at those things. I’ve been wondering if many people could make these small problems go away, if immigration wants more corruption, is welcoming it, but we are too stupid to get it??
I think that is why the boss lady followed up, what are you going to do, and then laughed at your answer ...like you are too stupid to offer them some money and do all that work and pay more?? Think about it.
I have seen a couple of posts on here of Jomtien immigration suggesting just that to people whose application has been turned down. Might be worth asking them if they'd like a donation to the benevolent fund.

So the spams have been sleight-of-handed by the generals in suits.
-
"The United States curbed military aid to Thailand following a 2014 army coup, but ties are improving after disputed elections this year that officially restored civilian rule under a government led by former junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha."
Civilian rule as in "generals in suits".

sometimes that works.
but then you get the io lady that's vexed because you didn't sign all the papers beforehand, throws you out of the cubicle to sign elsewhere, and invites the next applicant in.
I must admit that on my 12 retirement extensions I've always signed beforehand and never had a problem. It's just that I seem to remember someone posting fairly recently that he went to Jomten with his copies already signed only to be told to sign them all again over the stamp that the IO put on. Another poster said that the signatures had to be in blue ink. One thing's certain, unless I catch the IO on the day she's had a new perm and pedicure, whatever I choose to do will be wrong by her.

I signed every page at home and when I got back from BKK bank with their letter the IO had stamped all the pages and I had to sign them all over again, some 30 odd pages twice. What a PITA.
Thanks for that, I'll leave them unsigned in that case.
