There were several other farangs watching the protest (you can see that on the video) and all appeared to be welcomed. The protesters in general are appealing for Western support. The Russian obviously did something to anger the protesters. Calling them the dregs of society and blaming them for the slump in business (probably his business) would do it. All of which is of course nonsense.
I have met a number of Russians in Thailand, some of them really nice people but they all share one thing in common. They love and revere Putin and Prayut is a mini me of Putin. He decided to shoot his fat ignorant mouth off to a bunch of peaceful protesters despite having his daughter with him, probably feuelled by copious amounts of vodka.
If he had done the same thing in the UK, it would have had the same result but probably with more damage. In the US he probably would have caught a bullet.
Living under a totalitarian regime like Putin's the Rusky probably highly approves of the present Thai govt. That's why he was vocally critical of the protestors. He deserved all he got in my opinion, pity it wasn't Vladimir Vladimirivich himself who copped the headbutt.

"Prayut called for calm and legal protests, saying that diverging opinions were normal in a democracy like Thailand. "

hello,
Many times I was under the rain with girls, and then the next day they were sick, at least with a sore throat.
Is there any reason to be sick after being wet by the rain ? Even when raining it's never cold here, so why being sick ?
Is it a virus or bacteria / germ ? And why without knowing the cause they always take antibiotics ?
Thank you, I really want to know.
Mine gets a bad headache and has to get in the shower asp. Really panics when she gets caught in rain without a brolly. Don't know what she'd be like in the UK.

The Chinese won't even think it odd, they're so used to being bullied by authority.

Cases these Muslims. One of them beheads a poor innocent woman worshipper and kills two other in a church; another beheads a schoolteacher for teaching free speech, so they start protesting about the French getting slightly pear-shaped about it. This after the French had been generous enough to give them shelter in their country.

Another case of bringing race into everything. More excuses for BLM to use as a reason to riot.

That's an easy one, it's because we let in every Tom, Dick and Harry. Including our untested friends who come on rubber boats from across the channel.

I should imagine that there are a very small number of big bike accidents here compared to small bikes. The accidents aren't caused by the bikes but by the brain-dead riders. Talking of brain-dead, the authorities here will do anything rather than ask for advice from countries with low accident rates how to reduce road deaths here. This is just another hairbrained scheme that's going to have zero effect on road safety, but is going to pee a lot of people about.

Bad move that by the hijackers, boarding the tanker a few miles away from the SBS HQ. Tough efficient beggars those special forces types, not like the border farce.

Shame he can't just drive and keep his big hypocritical mouth shut, because he's a great driver and ex-hero of lots of people. He's probably managed to turn a lot of fans off the sport of F1, including me.

I'll bet my shirt that this "influential group of lawmakers" are all remainers who've spent the last several years trying to thwart every bit of pro-Brexit legislation put through parliament. If it's correct that businesses are unprepared for Brexit, then Westminster remainers are the main reason that this is so.

I see a web of tangle lies will be unfolding soon especially with this little nugget.
"China will continue to suspend outbound group tours and ban travel agencies from allowing inbound tours due to the risk of a resurgence in coronavirus cases this winter, authorities said. The country's Ministry of Culture and Tourism made the announcement in a notice published on its website on Wednesday"
Can someone help the Thai Government understand that other countries are still not cooperating as they say they are. Can someone explain to me who these 39 Chinese tourists really are? or, are they just really a new set of possible new diplomatic staff that have come to conduct an annual change at the end of the year in the Chinese embassy. However, before stepping into place they get a free vacation first, just a few thoughts off the top of my head..
When I worked for the Brit foreign service, staff at our embassies changed at the end of their alloted tour. It would've been impossible for all staff to start and end their tour at the same time because of each of the staff's previous tour and personal commitments. You also needed the staff who'd been at a posting longer to be able to guide you through the first few months of your stint. I can't see an embassy operating without that continuity. The Chinese of course may operate differently.

The IO staff are pretty decent and honest so I think it may work out. The money was out of the account for less than four minutes so it may be OK.
Thanks for the input Matzzon
From personal experience of Thai immigration sticking obsessively to the book, I wouldn't be surprised if you're disappointed. Hope you get an IO who had their nooky last night and got out of the right side of the bed this morning.

Jomtien has always charged 300 baht for a Certificate of Residence - their application form if I recall correctly, has you check whether for car or motorcycle license - if you say you want to get both, they say you have to have one Certificate for each license - thus 4 photos (2 required per Certificate) and 600 baht. However, as mentioned, the Banglamung Land Transport Office where you get the license will accept one original and once photocopy of the Certificate if getting both licenses.
It's increased by 33.3% then since my last 5 year license when it cost me 200 thb. Not surprised that the immig svc are suffering galloping inflation.

PS, when I worked in the NHS some years ago, NHS staff were forbidden to ask patients if they were UK citizens, and actually entitled to care on the taxpayer.
Seems it's OK to penalise UK citizens that chose to live overseas, but not people not entitled to NHS care in the first place.
NB, that may have changed since I left the NHS.
That doesn't surprise me since the border service are actually towing the illegals into dover.

You will need a letter from your bank confirming your account and the balance on the day you appy. Example here: bank letter.pdf
Most office will accept the letter dated the day before you apply for the extension.
Your bank book will need to be updated on the day you apply to prove the 400k baht has to been the bank for 2 months on the day you apply.
Here is my general list of required documents and etc is here. Marriage Extension Requirements 2.pdf
You can apply for the re-entry permit at immigration and at both airports in Bangkok on departure from the country.
You need to apply for the extension as soon as possible. You will get a under consideration stamp with a report back date on it that will be 30 days from the day you apply.
Think it might be worth pointing out that sometimes it can be longer than 30 days. My last 30 day under consideration period ended on a Friday, but when I turned up, Jomtien immigration told me to come back the following Tuesday afternoon.

I had two quotes for my house on top of 2.4 metre high columns and my house on the ground would've been around a third cheaper to build. I do have the whole underneath concreted though, not just supporting the columns.

Guess they saw no need to aggravating things. Having power and using it aren't the same thing.
"Violent attack last night on the police station of Champigny with mortar shots and various projectiles. No police officer was injured," the Paris police headquarters said on Twitter on Sunday.
I'd say they had every right to use their guns.

What rain? Some drizzle in Pattaya, but little in the way of real rain, as evidenced by the low water levels in the reservoirs.
You don't live at Phoenix Golf then? Always said we have our own microclimate here, rained a lot in the last couple of months I can almost see the grass grow.

Immigration should have banned him from entering Thailand for being a mischief. This is to teach similar behaviour in the future.
People here always complain about Chinese tourists behaviour but never bad American behaviour like being loud, demanding and deliberating causing mischief.
So writing a bad review online for the benefit of the people using the hotel after you is "causing mischief"? So going by that, it's not worth reading a review in future because any bad reviews will be done by people "causing mischief". I bet after word of this case gets out, the only bad reviews you'll read will be by people who've already left Thailand and have no plans to come back.

It's just like any new immigration rules, someone on a whim thinks "That's a good idea" and it's put into effect the next day without any deep thought, discussion or informing staff at the many offices throughout the country. Why don't they learn from past mistakes?

I have to agree in March if you were travelling when all this was going down you were asking for it. I'm not bashing the guy, but it was not a good time to be travelling anywhere on earth in March. The whole world was shutting down.
Except for UK which is still letting in every Tom, Dick and Harry, including assisting illegals to land after ferrying them across the channel and flying in more from Greece. It's tough on people not being able to get back here, but I think Thailand's handling this well.

TripAdvisor slaps warning on Thailand's 'Sea View Resort & Spa' review page
in Thailand News

There's nothing to compel you to put your hand on your holy book when you write a review for TA. All those reading reviews as well as the resorts should know that a review is only one person's opinion and should be used along with all other reports when choosing a place to stay. You should in no way be in danger of imprisonment for stating your opinion of a particular place, regardless of whether or not it's gospel.
