  1. Just been informed the following by the official distributor of CTH in Pattaya:

If you have Sophon cable, you can go to them and get a cable tuner. None of the other cable TV companies can do this.

If you do not have Sophon, you need a satellite receiver. Official prices are:

1,800 Baht one time deposit (the box remains CTH property).

200 Baht one time registration fee.

    125 Baht/month box rental

899 Baht/month for the EPL package (down to 599/month if prepaid for 3 years).

Maximum 3 receivers per household, plus 1,800 Baht deposit and 100 Baht registration per additional box (plus subscription).

The distributor normally only sell to installers,

So through an installer you need to add the cost for a small dish and the installation/his profit margin.

Required documents are ID card/housebook for Thai people, or passport and utility/internet bill showing name and address for foreigners.

CTH will send a monthly bill and you can pay at any counter service point (7/11, lotus etc).

Coming Monday they get the first delivery, but they are pretty much all reserved by the gazillion small installers in and around Pattaya.

Well thats sounds great, but when I went to Sophon Cable on South Pattaya road yesterday, they told me No, we are not offering cable tuner and have cancelled contract this year?

  2. Nothing but good things to say about Thai Post. Everything sent from Thailand has always been received by the addressee and likewise everything sent to me at numerous addresses in Thailand has always been delivered provided the correct address was written.

Bt60 for registered post is cheap insurance. The online ThaiPost tracking system only tracks your item to the international gateway. Foreign postal services generally do not enter inbound registered items on their system for tracking purposes apart from date and time of delivery.

On the one occasion an item was overdue - held for inspection by US Customs - ThaiPost tracking staff were most helpful.

Actually they now track all way to delivery address and times and dated.

  3. I agree with WayWardWind but if you chose the mail you can go to Soi Post Office off beach Rd. Quite well known for farangs and I believe it is soi 13 or soi 13/1? Maybe someone can say for sure.

You should be aware that these "kiosk" post offices are not actually the Thai Post Office, rather in general they are simply a shop masquerading as a post office and they can be dis-honest (from experience) and will overcharge.

The actual Thai Post offices I believe are on Naklua main road or Soi post office (13/1) and I think there are a few others around.

The Thai post tracking site is in English: http://track.thailandpost.com/trackinternet/Default.aspx?lang=en

Registered post is not expensive, even overseas!

  4. I go to Cambodia regularly via Koh Kong, and unless it has changed in the last few weeks, the border regardless of what the web site etc says will only accept 1200 Baht, and there response to those who have dollars is ("stay in Thailand or give 1200 Baht")

As already said the easy way all round is a 28US$ e-visa which also is quicker at the border as well.

    Best

  5. It is terrible that anyone gets injured on the roads, but it seems to me that often pedestrians seem to act as idiots crossing the road, they don't even check that the road is clear and then act like of course the bike will stop???

  6. Do yourself a "favour" get it done at a hospital......they are the "experts" .... have all of the right equipment.....and proper hygene

Yes because it is real hard to collect blood and send it off. You should really pay a premium at a hospital. biggrin.png

Lifecare Laboratory have all the latest equipment on site, some of the hospitals send there blood tests to them to do!

As to Hospitals well Bangkok Pattaya do many of the tests in a room next to the emergency Dept and this has a lot to be desired for Hygiene, (dirty floors etc,) same in PIH and Pattaya Memorial do it in the hallway! And as for experts you are joking!! Its usually a nurse with absolutely no idea how to draw blood!

I doubt that much of your post is accurate, blood tests at the hospitals you mention are performed in laboratories and not in hallways et al. As for the lack of cleanliness and lack of knowledge of how to draw blood samples, you're statement are not credible or based on first hand experience.

My response is very accurate as I have to get Blood tests every month, I have had over several years tests at all 3 Pattaya Hospitals and Pattaya Lab near Bali Hai Pier so please don't assume!

  7. I personally have never had a problem for over 12 years with Hotmail.

However i have fixed many issues on friends computers relevant to Hotmail.

1/. The most common problem is if your time and date on computer is way out, then Hotmail wont always work. This is usually the issue when the web certificate problem comes up.

2/. You may need to adjust your internet security settings, mail me if you cannot do it.

3/. Turn off the Phishing filter.

  9. I've just had a blood test at the Lifecare Laboratory on 3rd Road near the flyover. They were very good, professional, 15 blood tests for 500 baht. Much better than a hospital imo.

Yes this place is good value, sterile equipment etc and knows his job.

  10. Where did you buy it? The store that sold it will usually have contact details for after sales service people. Sometimes you need to make appointment, as they may come from Bkk.

PS... Did you google whirlpool Thailand?

I did google whirlpool Thailand, but for some reason the website did not work earlier. I'll try google translate and see if I can make any sense of their service locations. Thanks.

    its:

  11. The problem I get with many deliveries from USA (especially Amazon) is that they do not put a value on the product, so Thai Customs will not release it.

I have this problem right now with Amazon and another Coy.

I cannot get it resolved as Amazon seem unable to inform FEDEX a value so they can get a release from Customs, so eventually the product will not be delivered and I will claim a refund.
