YOU won't get a loan against the property, it's not in your name.

However your wife should be able to if she can convince the bank she can repay the loan.

It can be drawn out, our SCB "construction loan" finally came through when the house was nearly finished, typically Thai.

Are you or your wife working?

Both retired with pensions in both names, and loan would be in wife's name, of course.

  2. My Thai Pattaya home is in my Thai wife's name, its worth 6 million +- loan free etc

I want to obtain a loan of say 1 million baht against above property for my name village home improvements.

Has anyone done this? And is it time consuming etc?

Thanks for any advice, but please no usual comments about Thai Wives etc.

OP why are you concerned about a bar in Pattaya being closed?

Thousands more to go to, or do they owe you money?

If they owe you money, say bye -bye to it.

I'm asking because it was a good bar with great patrons...That's it, no ulterior motives such as what you think!

As far as I know the only way to get an empty tank refilled is to trade it in to a provider, and they give you a different tank, filled. Cost about 400 baht.

No, Ive tried that, none trade it, they will not accept it.

    Problem fixed now....

From their website, I think the highlighted number would be a good place to start. The address translates as 139  M.6  T. Pong A.Banglamung, C.Chonburi which places them somewhere the other side of lake Mabprachan...ish.

Probably better off biting the bullet and buying one of the standard bottles available, you can then swap that out at any of the gas shops without any hassle in the future. Not specific to your question I know but probably a damn sight easier....

It is a standard bottle, but the shops will not swop out a bottle with a different name on it!  It is a spare bottle, just seems a pity I cannot get it refilled?

So where is the shop selling UNIQUE please, any ideas?

  8. Can anyone assist me where I can get my gas bottle (cooker) refilled?

    The bottle is labelled "UNIQUE"

(Pattaya Klang Area)    Apparently the bottlers will not refill other bottles?

    Thanks

  9. In the past, (having worked for Visa) it would not be cost effective for VISA to chase you for small amounts, however if they find out your Thailand address, they can send a Debt collector to see you, but unless they have taken you to court in the UK and referred it to a Thai court then a Thai Debt collector cannot enforce the debt, so this would be unlikely.  You should ask VISA UK to stop the interest charges and offer a monthly payment, no matter how small within reason.

It is known as an IVA, these can be formal through a solicitor etc or direct between you and the lender. Good Luck!

to be honest I don't want to sell because I have breath taking view from my condo, is there a way to install isolation on the wall between my condo and the neighboring condo.

Of course, buy some sound proofing insulation and build a further wall to sandwich it, I have done this with great results, don't forget though you will need to sound proof the ceiling cavity.

He/She needs a will which can "easily" be accomplished. Pre paid funerals are available in Pattaya for foreigners. Hopefully you will get useful information on this difficult matter. Start with the will however as that's essential. The cost at a local temple for foreigners can be 30-50,000. Baht but as I say and you know, you don't just assume you'll be taken there upon death. Outside of Pattaya 10,000. Baht, Thai or Foreigner. Hope your friend is at peace with it all and God Bless Him/Her forever.

The Thai will has been effected.

Thanks for reply, out by the reservoir, was a lot lower just 2 years ago, so I was hopeful of getting an idea of price that someone has actually  paid recently..

  12. A friend of mine who is very ill wants to know the cost of a simple cremation at a local temple around Pattaya for example, any assistance please?

Also what happens immediately on death, ie does the body go to a hospital for an autopsy etc and what does that cost please?

Sorry not a nice topic but necessary,,,Thanks

  13. Hooray!! I don't know if already mentioned, but its up and running again (at last!).

I effected and completed today, simple, but don't forget it works best only on internet explorer, also the correct web immigration address is:

    http://immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php

You will still get the warning page:

The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority

(and you will need to click on to continue to the page)

    Good luck!

A friend of mine bought his Thai Airways flight with his credit card a couple of months in advance of travel. He received his replacement Credit Card upon expiry of his previous card before his flight.

Upon check in when asked to provide his Credit Card, he provided the new one, he was not permitted travel and had to purchase a new ticket and claim a refund on the previous ticket (the new ticket was more expensive of course)... My friend was extremely angry about this.

So... as I understand it, if you are unable to provide the card with which you purchased the flights you may be preventing from travelling.

This is quite concerning - I lost my card just before flying a few weeks ago, fortunately it was just an ATM card.

I really don't understand why airlines do this... Surely proof of ID is sufficient.

The reason they sometimes check III

  15. If you booked via an online travel agent or high street travel agent then you will not have any problem.

It's only when you book online DIRECT with an airline that you will often (in my experience) be asked for the credit card, especially if not in your name.

Alternatively most VISA credit cards can overcome this by having previously registered with "verified by visa".
