I am still looking for the name of a temple, location and cost of a simple funeral there. Surely someone must have knowledge of a recent one.

As I said, speak to Bert Elson!

You can't send an EMS letter to England for 100+ Baht, that will have been registered mail, and it will show when delivered but not tracked all the way.

Actually it does show all way.

  3. The great pity is that Koreans and the like (ie Chinese) seem to think they can just walk across the road, regardless of traffic...they are the most stupid people, I am sorry to say.

If you ride even a moped around Pattaya day or night, they seem to just step out in front of you, they don't even look?

That's not to say the bloody stupid Russian thrashing a huge bike down a city road late at night is not equally to blame.

Why are they even allowed to rent these death machines?  They are great bikes, but on a race track wearing safety clothing etc.

It's correct. Wat Chaimongkon is the most prestigious Pattaya wat, but also by far the most expensive! 200'000 baht is the price I often heard, and this explain why there is so few cremations in this wat; nearly only for rich families or high ranked policeman or military.

The price may go from 5'000 to 500'000 depending on the wat and ceremonies you chose. Hard to give a "going rate" in such case. Using wats East of Sukhumvit, you may get it for less than 20'000 baht I think.

You may be correct, but I checked out Wats as far as 10 kms out from Pattaya and they all seemed to start at around 45,000 upwards, I agree that a few years ago it was much lower in price in fact the Wat near the reservoir which was only 20,000 five years ago, now want more than 65,000 !

A Swedish friend 79 years old has started thinking about cremation

His daughter (Thai mother) phoned Wat Chaimongol (the nearest one) and was told 200,000 baht. Surely that can't be correct.

He was given the name of a lady who organises these thing and was told 50,000 baht in a temple on Sukumvit Road near the road leading to Jomtien.

    Any further info?

50,000 is the going rate. Just cremated a friend in Pattaya.

5 monks doing the chanting etc and the usual good bye ceremonies. Best wishes.

I have just obtained my income confirmation letter from the U.K. embassy BKK.

For those that are not aware, the request can now be done Via E mail.

Simply scan the required documents and send them to the E mail address on the embassy website.

I have done just that from the comfort of my own home, no visit to either BKK, or post office needed, very quick and hassle free.......

You can use PDF auto fill if you don't have a scanner.

    How much Hough please?

Shouldn't there be a standard password that came with the machine? If this one was changed and you don't remember it just do a hard reset (factory settings) by holding the reset button somewhere located on the machine for about 20 seconds.

Now the router should come as new and you can use the password written on the bottom of the machine. If there isn't any, the standard password is usually admin/password/0000 and the username should be 'admin'.

You need your 3bb username and 3bb password so your modem can access your 3bb account, once you have these then it's just a matter of following set up wizard!

It's not a matter of setting up the modem, rather accessing your 3bb account via the modem.
