Yesterday I was in a shop and the guy in front of me was trying to pay with his phone. After five minutes I gave up and walked out of the shop. This is not the first time this has been reported. There are obviously still plenty of problems with this method of payment.

NIDA polls paint a complicated picture for Prime Minister Prayut’s future
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Didn’t the Thais develop a vaccine for Ebola about nine years ago? I’m pretty sure some countries in Africa would welcome it right now. -
Walking along Sukhumvit yesterday there are a lot of shops selling weed. There has been some serious money put into setting them up. I just see these rules as another opportunity for the BIB to extort owners. Very little will change.

Netizens praise tattooist for giving a free tattoo about organ donation

I have an organ donor card in my wallet. I don’t think it would be of any use in Thailand. -
Cruise ship with estimated 800 COVID cases docks in Sydney
lujanit replied to onthedarkside's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Shades of the Ruby Princess just when covid started. The difference between now and then was the NSW health authorities let off all the passengers knowing full well covid was rife amongst passengers and crew. -
I came into town last Friday. The taxi driver asked if he could use the expressway, I okay. It was 110 baht for the expressway plus we were waiting for about an hour to get onto Sukhumvit. Then he didn’t know how to get to Soi 18 and just dropped me off on Sukhumvit. So I had to walk to my hotel. Fare was double what I usually pay for the same trip. Never take the expressway coming into town. I have never had a problem before, outside drivers trying to take the long way around. I could have booked Grab which I loathe for probably cheaper. The problem with Grab is there are never any cars available and they are twice the price of a regular taxi. What’s going to happen to Grab fares now?

I predict that since this POS is a monk of higher standing he will do very little jail time if at all he is sentenced. He will claim mental issues and subsequently be sent for treatment. As to any compensation the public will fund that. How he can claim it is a private issue and not associated with the temple is outrageous since he committed these vile acts on novices no doubt within temple grounds. I really hope he is sent to an open population jail for a long time and there he gets his just deserved comeuppance.

I never heard of them until someone mentioned them in a recent thread. I did a comparison between them and Zennioptical. I used my prescription and even with all the discounts (I had to look hard to find all the discount vouchers. The ones on their ordering page were nothing compared to what I ended up finding) eyebuydirect was still USD70 more expensive. The comparison was apples and apples not apples and oranges.

British man sentenced for rape in UK flees to Thailand
lujanit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As luck(?) would have it there was this bit of news in Australia the same day as this UK screw up was reported here. The Sri Lankan was denied bail. Obviously it depends on each case. That the UK guy was granted bail I get. Not considering he was a flight risk was a monumental fire truck up. At the very least he should had his Passport removed. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-11-09/danushka-gunathilaka-court-documents-allege-he-choked-woman/101635018 -
Best Thai ingredients to travel to Apec from all over the country

I beg to differ. There have always been three sets of rules here. One for the wealthy connected Thai's, one for the ordinary/peasant Thai's and the third one for us foreigners. How many times have us foreigners been specifically been targeted when ordinary Thai's are given a free pass? Helmet and license checks seem high on the list especially in Pattaya.
