Western Union and Moneygram etc give very poor exchange rate where they earn quite a lot of money from your transfer.

Transferwise has one of the best exchange rate that is closest to real market rate.

Agree that Transferwise has best exchange rate. The point is if other players in the industry can get the license for outbound transfer, Transferwise should at least attempt to get the same license.

Transferwise is almost in every major country in the world.

Why doesn't Thailand have the service of sending money out in addition to sending money into Thailand?

Why must they force us to use Deemoney?

Western Union and Moneygram can also send money out of Thailand to any western countries. I think Transferwise need to apply for a license for outbound transfer like other players.

I've got similar charge from Bangkok Bank a week ago. Went to the branch to enquire about it and explained to them I was stuck out of Thailand for nearly an year. They said the charge will be reversed next week. If you have been a good customer with SCB for that long I suggest to call them and try to reverse the charge.

SCB call center (02-777-7777) can also reverse the annual fee charges if you call and explain. They rather drop the annual fee than lose a customer.

So, everyone still believes US is a fair country? How can they have 70 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for their people when a big part of the world got noting?

No, just a big bully with an unfair amount of mucle. Turning something that should be fair into a we want it all, as usual. Shameful!

Countries with the most Covid-19 cases should be given the priority when delivering vaccine to control the spread. US is the top country with most Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths. It is fair that US get the vaccine first.

I've just had an email from MSN (they say) about closing older versions of email from today.

The font is something like Times NR and all the commas look OK (unlike a Nigerian scam)

A link is included whereby you can register to update.

It doesn't look pukka. Just a feeling...

    Anyone had the same?

    Eddy

Does the email come from hidden email address like the one below?

"Mail service team <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>"

If yes, it is a scam.

this opens the book on another load of questions, how do these private hospitals access the vaccs when govt cannot presently,i would have thought theyd confiscate it and use on the health workers not sanction it?why would the govt allow the rich to circumvent the process of govt vaccs.what of the costs and acceptance by authorities of such a process.?what if someone has an adverse reaction, whos responsible?its another mad corruption fuelled dash to the pay out, private hospitals -wow no moral compass what so ever.par for the course unfortunately.i find it hard to believe that this can pass muster when every other country so far says and acts as vaccination is a public right and the rich cant queue jump.we are living in a moral vaccuum if its allowed to pass, who do they source the vaccs from?pfizer astra are in full knowledge of this?i see the chinese are selling their vacc on open mkts but what do you expect from the buffet crew who gave us the virus, typical!theirs is 2nd rate anyway so i think if your gonna pay you will get a good one.this shows in the full light of day how corrupt the system is.

Letting rich jump queue to take Covid vaccine is not as bad as it sounds. They will become human guinea pig for hastily developed vaccine and the rest of the population will benefit from the early vaccinations results.

Thai Union Group CEO, Thirapong Chansiri said, however, that, as of Tuesday, 23,630 of the group’s 27,552 employees, or 85%percent, have been given PCR tests and only 69 of them, or 0.29%, tested positive.[/quote]

So if only 0.29% tested positive, then why 85% has been tested?

May be because they don't have a crystal ball to predict how many percent will be tested positive without testing 85% of all employees.

Is it true that all positive covid19 cases are required to stay in hospital until it passes?  If so, that is the first thing that needs to be changed.  As testing goes up, positive cases will go up as well.  It is a complete waste of time and resources to do this, no need to have asymptomatic cases and those who feel fine to be hospitalized, the hospitals will fill up very quickly.

Only treat those that need care and attention and the rest just need to quarantine until their infection passes.  Hoping the best for Thailand!

Not all the cases. All the Covid positive Burmese are kept in a quarantine facility (not field hospital).

    Thanks all,

As it seems to be a restriction on our work laptops, (since using work wifi on my mobile worked) would any IT experts hazard a guess on what is exactly blocking me when I use my work laptop?

    Many thanks all

Probably the corporate firewall blocking the sign up page as suspicious website.

Many Migrant worker camps and dormitories here in Bangkok as well as the rest of Thailand.  Seems they are being a little short sighted if they are only thinking about Samut Sakhon.  They need to start testing openly in all of Thailand and free.  However, where do you put a positive asymptomatic migrant worker who has no money to pay for the medical care above what the 30 baht scheme they can use will actually pay.

If they have work permit, they have social security. Social security will pay for the treatment.

My work permit expires January 2021 and my passport expires August 2021. Can I extend my work permit for 2 years as usual or will they only extend it to the passport expiry date? I don't plan to travel next year so was going to wait until June to renew my passport.

Yes, you will get 2 years extension of your work permit despite your passport expiring earlier.

The Thai authorities should not be surprised that Thai hookers slip back and forth without passing Thai border formalities because the Casino pays off immigration on both sides to let customers and staff pass through without formality.  A few years back a group of farangs was also able to pass through and come back without any passport checks.

They make is sound like the hookers must be swimming across the river at some remote spot but this is blatantly not the case and we know that Thais can't swim anyway.

Water in the river between Mae Sai and Taichileik is only ankle deep this time of the year.
