  1. Ok now I need some fire bricks for the oven.

Any ideas where I can purchase, and indeed the name of them in thai?

    I'm thinking 'it fai mai'

It's possible where you stay. In Pattaya you can buy fire bricks on the Sukhumvit on the way from Sattahip to Pattaya. On the left side Comes a Homemart Shop Name before was Kanyong. Now ??? Just before it is a shop where you can buy fire bricks. They build ovens too.

  2. Sheer nonsense, the under B40,000 735i you give as an example to compare prices is a 1988 model, available here in Thailand in the region of B200,000 (Talad Rod), not for "some million".

Open your eyes man!!! There are cars from 1992-1998 for the same price also. Fact is that 2.hand cars are very, very expensive in Thailand.

All other is NONSENS!!! Or can you Show me one secondhand BRAND car what is cheaper in Thailand as in Europe?

    Give me a sample please!!!

  3. Pallet and imported wood may sound good but be cautious. Pallets that are used for international shipping must be chemical and or heat treated for bug infestation.

Wood imported to Thailand must also come with a certificate from a government stating its disease free.

They Import it, cut it and than it get chemicals. So the sawdust is ok!!!

  4. You can buy hardwood sawdust outside Pattaya. 1 bag for 50 THB.

This is from a timber Import Company who produce wooden paletts for shipping. But it can be that also sawdust from fruit trees or pine is inside because they don't separate it.

What I bought was all hardwood.

  7. The new alcohol law is ill conceived, impractical, and serves no purpose other than inconveniencing a whole lot of people and a whole lot of shops and traders. Thai thinking at its worse.

I not understand why they just not make harder penalties to shops and bars for selling alcohol to underaged youths AND controll the shops!!!

Take some youth and send they alcohol shopping and see what happen.

  8. A lot of good Thai Teachers on board here. Yes, everyone who think "Forget the deposit!!!" is a good teacher for Thais.

YOU teach them all how they can press out farangs because this stupid farangs accept every shit.

Go to the consumer protection board and tell what happen. They would help you to get your deposit back. Also you can hire a lawyer. If you pay 20.000 THB for got 150.000 THB back it is a better deal as NOTHING!!!

  9. Sorry 'snowgard', but you should really aquaint yourself with Thai Defamation Laws before posting your drivel.

In Thailand it doesn't matter whether what was written/copied/published by Phuketwan happened to be true or a lie. The deciding factor is whether what was written was damaging to the Thai Navy's 'reputation'. The fact that it was true or false and/or a quote of Reuters is beside the Point

That is your opinion, but not mine. Fact is as a journalist you have to check your stories are conform with the law. The most people here know how the Computer Crime Act and the defamation laws are here. Thailand is not the USA with their much more softer defamation laws. So you have to play by the rules and nothing would be happen.

His Problem is that him are in Thailand. They can beat him up!!! Reuters not, they are not here!!! But who know it. Maybe they wanted also the Reuters Journalist who wrote this story. I don't believe they make it public.

My opinion is: If you live in Thailand you have to live to the Thai Law and not to your homecountry law.

All other is now in the hand of the judge!!!

  10. Maybe this help you to understand the Thai Laws better:

    -----------------

What do the laws in Thailand say about Defamation?

    ---------------------

There are two types of defamation in Thailand. Under Section 423 of the Thai Civil and Commercial Code, defamation is defined as a person who makes false statements and circulates it as fact. The false statements must injure the reputation, credit, earnings, or prosperity of another person. If the defamer is found liable, the defamer shall compensate the defamed for any damages arising from the false statements. Even if the defamer does not know that his statements are false, as long as he knows that it should be false, the defamer is liable for defamation. The court is not bound by the criminal code’s limits on punishment in a civil case.

Under Section 326 of the Thai Criminal Code, defamation is defined as whoever imputes anything about another person to a third person in a manner likely to impair the person’s reputation or place the person in contempt or hatred by others. When defamation is committed by publication or other media made visible by any means, the offender is liable for imprisonment for up to two years and a fine of up to 200,000 baht. If the person who is accused of defamation is able to prove that the statement is true, the person shall not be punished. But the truth is not a defense for private matters that is not a benefit to the public (Section 330).

  11. Well, he is a public servant. This prosecution proves that there is at least one naval officer involved. That is enough to say that the Thai navy is involved. Any armed force is held accountable for the conduct of its troops and officers. That is how it works.

More than ONE Person of this armed forces are in prison for dealing with drugs!!!
