  1. Military routs last of Thaksin's supporters

The last batch of military officers who were pre-cadet classmates and supporters of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra have been transferred to less influential duties.

The mid-year reshuffle approved by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and announced yesterday involved officers who had important positions and were classmates of Thaksin in Class 10 of the Armed Forces Academy Preparatory School and others close to Thaksin. They have been moved to inactive positions.

After the military coup in 2006, many officers appointed or having links with Thaksin were moved in several reshuffles. An army observer said yesterday's list was the last group believed to have connections with the convicted former prime minister.

NO surprise there. Doubt the military wants to have officers close to an inciter of unrest in high positions.

you mean not follow orders to go with tanks and guns after protesters who would not win against in an election?

the big question would be who gets the now empty positions? friends of the dem's after the biggest batch was before reshuffled for junta interests. i see long, long threads comming when the re-re-shuffle starts, sooner or later.

and any other classmates of abhisit spotted, next to the Finance Minister, which he in england went to school together, same class.

Mark escape the army (BTW which is against the law), hence he has no army friend.

However he has lots of Oxford schoolmate (Noppadon Pattama is one).

  2. In a true democracy, communist is allowed. There are communist party in France, US, etc, etc.

However, it Thailand, the word communist is like a witch in the old days Europe (and current day India). Anyone being label as a communist must be drag out into the open square, and burnt to death. Well not literally now, but will definately go to jail without trail or any possibility of release.

Is this part of the PM media war on the red?

  3. In the case of Angkhana, a 28 year called old "Nong" Bow (usually 28 year old women are not given the prefix "nong" in front of her name - that is reserved for young girls, but it made the issue far more emotive so it could be better exploited by PAD), there have been two investigations - one came to the result that she died of the teargas, and the other, that teargas was definitely not the cause of her death, as C4 was found on her shirt and brassiere. Until a third investigation is made, her cause of death is disputed.

The other dead protester was an ex-police officer heading the Buriram PAD guards. He blew up in his car - both hands were missing, the corpse was thrown out of the car, and only one leg remained inside the car, which makes is more than clear where and how the explosion happened - his own explosives went up in his hands. That happens at times.

And before anyone claims that PAD did not use their own explosive devices - there is more than enough footage available of PAD with ping pong bombs, and PAD guards arrested with such.

Don't restrain yourself, but please for once come up with a reasonable argument, and a statement that is proven by evidence and fact, and not just your opinion.

    I second that.

  4. Former Army Chief General Chaiyasit Shinawatra believes the assassination attempt against PAD leader Sondhi Limthongkul is not related to the 9th infantry unit of the Army, and he claims that there is no marksman in that unit.

    TAN 2009-04-28

wouldn't that make them even more suspect.

and which units have been in bangkok for the crackdown on the reds? they couldn't kill anybody as far as we know officially. or maybe it was someone from the batalion of combat nurses.

Isn't his last name sound familiar to you?

  5. Why not hire someone outside to be Thailand's PM.

I am sure Bill Clinton is out of job at the moment. Don't mind he is a Democrate.

Bush senoir/junior is not allowed in Thailand. Being a Republican, they conflict with Thai LM law.

  6. Yes, he was out of Thailand when the coup happened, but later did return. They did let him go to the Olympics with the "promise" that he would return for his trials. He is a criminal fugitive. Deal with it.

Wrong. Please get the fact right.

They did NOT let him go to the Olympics with the "promise" that he would return for his trials. His trials was already COMPLETED, and he was ALREADY sentenced for 2 years in prison WITHOUT the possibility of any appeal.

But the judges approve his departure, because:

Thailand did not want to put a ex-PM in jail, or

Thaksin have made a deal to go into exile quietly, or

He paid the judge to allow his escape, or

    what ever, what ever.

  7. I say, let squareface and monkeylips enjoy their life in Liberia. With those lips on Jak, im sure he's giving Thaksin the best he's got!

Those lips remins me of a Nana katoey I knew. I surely miss him/her.

He/She was obviously doing very well, he/she end up living in Dusseldorf now.

  8. Sanan voices support for amnesty

Deputy Prime Minister Sanan Kachornprasart Monday expressed support for the idea to grant amnesty to banned politicians who were not directly involved in vote-buying.

Sanan said the Constitution should also be amended to make the vote-buying individual crime instead of requiring the parties to be liable for the vote-buying.

    The Nation 2009/04/27

Thaksin walks free, because he is on TRT party list (hence not individual crime).

  9. Thailand to sign extradition treaty with UAE in bid to apprehend Thaksin

BANGKOK, April 27 (TNA) - The Thai government has received a draft extradition treaty from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will co-sign it immediately after studying its details, a senior Thai official said on Monday.

Panich Vikitsreth, an Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, told journalists that ministry officials are studying the draft and will sign it without delay because the UAE also wanted Thailand to extradite some of its nationals being detained in this country as well.

Mr. Panich and Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot travelled to the UAE earlier this month and held talks with senior foreign ministry officials of that country.

They reportedly conveyed the Thai government's concerns regarding convicted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra using Dubai as his base in attacking the Thai government.

Ousted in a September 2006 coup d'etat, Thaksin, now living in self-imposed exile overseas, was believed to be in hiding in the UAE in recent weeks.

He was sentenced in absentia to two years imprisonment by a Thai court after he was found to have abused his power while prime minister by helping his then wife buy land in Bangkok's prime business area at a discounted price.

The government will closely watch Thaksin if he enters that country again because Thailand's relations with the UAE are "very warm," Mr. Panich said.

Mr. Panich said he did not know how many countries had issued passports to Thaksin, but that he had only heard that a "country in central America" had given a special passport to him on April 15.

The Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry had already revoked both his diplomatic and ordinary passports in an attempt to capture him.

Regarding Jakrapob Penkair, a leading member of the anti-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) and also a staunch supporter of Thaksin, who escaped arrest for allegedly instigating unrest in Bangkok on April 13, Mr. Panich said he had checked a few days ago and found that Jakrapob had "not yet left the country."

Jakrapob could have left the country without using his own passport, he said. Nevertheless, his whereabouts remains unknown.

Just blindly sign it. Nothing can go wrong. Don't even have to read the fine print first.

Remember the last time a FM sign something? It is about some temple & UNESCO. Nopadon Pattama lost his job within days. However, Kasin have the protection of Sondhi.

  10. Thanks. I agree with you.

Thanks for posting a clear photo of the PAD boy.

Now I know how he looks like, if I ever met him, I'd do nothing at all because I'm basically all talk.

Here, let me help you with that...

That's right. Thank LawnGnome. Afterall, I rather deal with bg that kt.
