You seem to have missed the point of the post you quoted.

A bit like ignoring links that contradict your own views. Ho hum.

Welcome back Chomper. Do try to keep up.

I always find it easier to put the adhesive on the tile rather than the wall. Now, that's controversial. ????

I guess it all depends what you read. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/personalandhouseholdfinances/incomeandwealth/bulletins/householddisposableincomeandinequality/financialyearending2021

Regardless of income distribution, if you are spending too much it's time to cut down on non essentials.

Usually far more accurate than the media. Which ever bias they may have.

How much is her phone, internet and TV contract? That's likely another 2k a year.

There is hunger and poverty in many countries. With over 1 million jobs available in UK, those that have jobs being offered extra hours if they want them, there are less excuses for being in poverty in UK. I would love to see those complaining trying to live in a place like NE Thailand or in the slums of Klong Teoy. Don't go to work or work when you want =,no money, no outside help, no food. They wouldn't last a morning. When comparing the haves with have nots around our world, the population of UK does very well.

A big reason is people not planning. Buy buy buy when the going is good. Let's face it, if you get a mortgage at 2% you should have the intelligence to know interest rates can only go up. Prior to the pandemic things were good. Is it the government's fault people over stretched themselves so much they are now struggling? I've lost count of how many new "21, 22" cars I see on the roads. How many were cash purchases? Likely less than 5%. Queues of people in phone shops. An acquaintance of mine never stops complaining yet he pays over £200 a month for phone and TV. The fact the government helps out so much means people lose their sense of priorities. Starmer and Rayner keep saying they have the answer. I hope they do. However, they don't ever show us how they are going to pull the rabbit out if the hat or how they will pay for it.

I said don't believe "everything" you see in the media. Some people always struggle. Whether it's their own doing, only they know. Food banks don't generally go into people's finances or personal details. There will always be freeloaders. Those that are in real difficulty get help. Only yesterday our local council announce a new scheme for council tax rebates. I work in a regular job ay £11 a hour. My wife gets £10. We live in an expensive area of UK. Rent on a 2 bed flat is £1000. By not overspending or overstreching our finances when the going was great, we are doing OK and save money each month. There was a married couple of nurses on social media the other day. They were saying they use food banks. Their combined salary about £20k per annum more than ours. They are doing something wrong. Sad. I guess, but true.

Don't believe everything you read in the media. All kinds of shops and supermarkets are packed with people spending money.

I doubt you've read the few posts before your own. Go back and read them. You may wish to edit your comments.

Send my your bank account details. I'll send you 50 satang. My wife has never worked in any of the ways you have mentioned. I could also list quite a few other guys I know as the same. I'm sure they'd all be pleased to forward you 50 satang too. Why do people have to generalise so much?
-
Nope. Not a unionists at all. Just because I state facts, it doesn't nske me a unionists. You can cut Scotland away and tow it to the Arctic Circle, as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe in the past but now, I believe, an outdated assumption. My wife ran a catering business dedicated to supplying expats with western food. 95% of customers were expats. We noticed a big upturn in customers around 2013/14. This coincided with the broadened availability of the internet. We also noticed a change in the occupation of expats wives. Quite a few teachers, nurses, government officials. I believe a large %%% of expats now meet their partners/wives on the internet.
-
The biggest generalisation so far.

Speak to your wife to be. Explain to her you think things are getting out of hand. Let hercexplain this to her parents. Explain you think the two of you should be deciding andcarranging wedding plans. Which ever way the decision goes will help to to decide if you have a good lady. Probably also give you an insight to how future discussions about finance might go.

I'm not a unionists Please refer to my most recent post.

What bit of " in parts" and "mixed" do you not understand?

Oh dear.

So, when have the Scottish Parliament decided to have the next referendum? Oh. Hang on a minute. They can't. There really is no point in trying to argue about it. Scotland did not (could not) vote on remaining in the EU. They didn't have an independent vote. Scottish Parliament cannot lawfully hold a referendum as and when they please. Scotland do not have a fully independent Parliament, if they did they wouldn't keep complaining about Westminster. They don't have their own currency. They don't have an independent legal system. If it were up to me I would give Scotland independence. No ifs or buts. Just leave. No money, no support, no pensions, no funding. I doubt, however, the Scottish would vote for that.
-
You clearly have not been keeping up with the news.
-
Incorrect. It has already been adjudged Scotland cannot pick and choose when to have a vote. That would be for UK Parliament to decide.
-
Quite right. I believe they've already decided.
