It's interesting how different media outlets disseminate various pieces of information. In this one, for example: She said: "The detective said he has worked tirelessly but I just don't know if they want to make it out like it was a tragic accident. Something is really not sitting right with me." https://www.gbnews.com/news/british-tourist-naked-body-found-sea-thailand-heated-row-muscly-man I assume they are "working tirelessly" to identify the second guy, and given they have CCTV footage (and probably eyewitness accounts if they were drinking at the bar), it's safe to assume there is a good chance they will find him, they usually do in such cases. I have checked the fundraising page and they have already raised 23k (the goal was 15k), however it seems unlikely the authorities will release the body if the investigation is ongoing.

Meta Shifts Focus to Free Speech with New Community Notes System
rattlesnake replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I deleted my FB account in 2019 when Zuckerberg met up with Macron to discuss how to "fight hate speech", which translates as "Big Brother mass surveillance, censorship and listings of bad citizens". Thank God this dark episode is coming to an end. "If anybody wants, I'll tell you how I really feel." Please do. -

He has flipped sides… Whether that is good or bad depends on a variety of subjective factors. Ultimately, politics are a power struggle and whoever is in a dominant position gives the momentum. Nobody and nothing escapes this rule. I, for one, am very happy about this development. -
Does Trump completely lack decency and compassion?

"Trump supporters" being the majority of the US. Don't forget that your stance is now the minority stance. -
British man’s body found in sea in Thailand ‘after he was seen running away from bar’ As for the foreign man who was suspected of drinking with him in front of the hostel, the police did not investigate him because they didn’t know who he was. […] The incident occurred suddenly when Regan ran into the sea alone. […] However, at that time, the doctor couldn’t test for alcohol in the blood, but cocaine and marijuana were found during an initial urine test. https://metro.co.uk/2025/01/09/mystery-brits-naked-dead-body-found-sea-thailand-22323922/

He is correct and these outrageous policy failures will be addressed. Meanwhile, as extraordinary as it sounds, the President is Biden. -
I'm not speculating about what happened, but just as a general remark, I lived in Phuket back in the day and it can be a dodgy place with no shortage of shady farangs. Last time I was there, quite a few years ago, my brother and I were playing pool and some smiling young Ozzie came up to us offering to give us his weed as "he was leaving the next day". Immediate red flags came up (this was long before legalisation) and I smiled back saying "no thanks, we don't smoke". He turned around and left and gone was the friendly smile.

Anyone use these nasal cleaner type bottles?

I use the 1000 ml Klean&Kare bottles regularly for prevention, no need for fancy separate sprays, just use it directly. -
And so the 'Greenland' meltdown commences… He's just going to work out deals that satisfy all parties involved. Godspeed, Mister President. Why does Donald Trump want Greenland? Essential Driving Rules and Etiquette in Thailand
rattlesnake replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I found this after a quick search: One of the answers from the below thread (from 2012): The need for an IDP to accompany the UK license has been discussed on here before and I believe more people think an IDP is not required. However you can only drive on the UK license for a period of 6 months (again some people disagree and say up to 3 months) then a Thai license is required. It is normal here for the car to be insured, not the driver, either for any valid driver or named drivers, when a discount is given, but please read the small print on the policy as some insurance companies state that a Thai driving license is required to be covered. Not a problem for day to day driving but if you are unlucky enough to have a major accident insurance companies have been known to use any loophole to avoid paying out. -

Yeah, I wonder what would actually happen in case of an accident in Thailand while holding an IDP… Would the insurance cover the driver? -
It's a disease.

I was referring to @richard_smith237's mention that an English language licence could replace an IDP (never heard of it myself). -

And yet they do it all the time (turn and indicate at the same time, as if that helped in any way). If only they could learn to indicate first, double-check and only once sure nobody is on the other lane, start maneuvering… -
Essential Driving Rules and Etiquette in Thailand

The IDP (and presumably English language foreign licence) is valid for one year, I believe, so beyond that, I assume failure to secure a Thai licence would be equivalent to driving without a lience. -
The disaster was the past four years.
