  1. Victimization seems to be a new form of heroism, so many people have succumbed to the disease of being a victim and being outraged. Better to save your outrage for something that's worthwhile, this is such a nothing burger. I suggest to the Thai people that are outraged that they try using a train in France which takes two and a half hours to go 600 km. or they try using a luxury bus elsewhere in the world and then compare it to the local Thai buses. Or try using a Mercedes taxi in Merseilles instead of a rundown Corolla here. Some of the depictions are not all that far from the truth. Thailand is not exactly all glitz and glamours. Many of us would argue that though it contains some modern spots, it is still very much a third world nation.
  2. I don't know if I'm alone in feeling this way, but I'm really getting a kick out of seeing the Russians ostracized from contemporary society, and the Olympics. They certainly deserve it. What has Putin done lately to make the world a better place?
  3. Yeah there might be something to that, or talentless teachers with very poor taste. I've always considered a great artist to be a combination of a conceptual genius and a technical master. You don't see too much of that these days.
  4. Nice interpretation, well perhaps yours is a voice of reason in the wilderness of delusion. What you're saying sounds reasonable and it certainly doesn't surprise me that many of us, and the media would all jump to conclusions, considering how overheated the current environment is. That was actually my first impression, considering that there are 17 people at a very long table. Initially I argued that there was no comparison to the Last Supper. Then I, like most others got swept up in the hype. So thanks for that, knowing how dumbed down the world has become, perhaps they should have put a disclaimer in there somewhere, prior to showing it. That would have been funny and taken the wind out of many sails.
  5. That's a really interesting point if you're going to use ladyboys why not use good looking ladyboys was it deliberate that all the lady boys they used were so rough looking? And what about the only woman in that group why was she ugly and 400 lbs? What was that statement all about?
  6. Very few people have a true and deep appreciation of Pollock, and understand what a blazing genius the man was, and how spectacularly perfect his paintings were. They utter silly statements like my kid could do that, and yet the stuff their kid does is not something anyone would care to look at, and is forgotten tomorrow. Even by the parents, unless they pander to the kid by taping it to the refrigerator.
  7. Leninism would have no tolerance for the kind of stuff that was expressed in this ceremony and it is likely that in a Leninist or Marxist society these people would be executed promptly. So, if you don't know anything about Leninism or Marxism it's better just to not discuss it. Otherwise you end up looking like somebody who's been gorging on conservative podcasts. Perhaps use the correct labels, like woke, and PC and liberal.
  8. Everybody's entitled to their opinion of course, but you couldn't possibly be further from the truth. There are hundreds of millions if not billions who care deeply about the Olympic Games, for the sports aspect, not just the metals. Football, tennis gymnastics, basketball, track and field, weight lifting, there are dozens of sports that are represented in the Olympics that are very relevant to today's society. They're just not relevant to you that's all. Of course there are things like the javelin, and the shot put, and archery and things like that that don't have much day-to-day relevance, but many others do.
  9. Yeah I think that's the part of this that I agree with the most, artistic expression is fine, freedom of artistic expression is fine, but this was the wrong venue to push a fairly extreme position into the faces of the masses. I think they were just trying to make a point and the point was not made very effectively, that's for sure. It failed horrendously, let's just admit that.
  10. Well I agree with everything else you said, except the part about the Eiffel Tower. I've been there, I've been up to the top, it's an absolutely extraordinary creation, and an amazing feat of engineering for its time, and even for today. And it's gorgeous.
  11. Did you see the opening cemerony? The parts along the Seine were quite nice. But some of the other parts? Rarely have I ever seen something done in such poor taste. Yikes. The dinner scene? The ladyboys crawling and shimmying on the ground? The kids partying with the queens? I'm watching it again and I can see the symbology, 13 people, one of them is wearing a crown sitting at a long table, it does look like a deliberate mockery of Christianity. I don't really get it, it was so unnecessary, it was sloppy, it was highly inelegant, ugly, and it was just very badly done. The only woman who's not in drag, is 400 lbs and ugly, what is that all about? Is there some anti woman symbology there, or is it an insult to the French monarchies of the past, or is it a tribute to obesity? Or is it just a lame and ineffective celebration of PC culture? I mean this is France, with a history of great culture. How did they let it descend to this level? Who dreamt this up, how did it get approved, why did they do it, and how can we cancel them? LOL. This was unbelievably bad. It was vomit inducing, and I am a very tolerant person. I respect other people's sexual preferences, and I respect other people's lifestyles, but why disrespect hundreds of millions of people? Just because you can?
  12. They did lower taxes, but it was just one of the taxes. There are multiple taxes on imported wines and lowering one of the taxes really did not make much of a difference, it might have brought a thousand baht bottle of wine down by 20 baht. If they're serious about attracting wealthy tourists they need to dramatically reduce wine taxes and luxury taxes. That's just two steps, there are 10 other steps they need to take. The problem is they yak yak yak, and they come up with proposal after proposal, and yet they take no action, and the actions they take are meaningless. The government is jammed full of talentless people who are not serious about meaningful change or progress.
  13. The fact that they are a recognized dog by this association means absolutely nothing. It means about as much as saying that suicide bombers are recognized by Al Qaeda as being heroes.
  14. Well the reality is that if the law is not going to take the immediate and necessary execution of these malicious animals into its own hands, then the neighbors certainly have a right to do so. These nasty dogs have revoked their right to live by committing such a heinous act.
  15. Unfortunately I do tend to agree with that, and I think that as time goes on we are becoming softer and softer, less and less tolerant, and as a society our skin seems to be getting thinner and thinner. Which is not good on any level.
  16. Well if that's how you feel I'm sorry to hear it. LOL. I have a lot of friends and family that are conservative and these are people that I adore, so I don't let politics to get in the way of my relationships. I may have my opinions and I may state them, and sometimes my friends and I will discuss the differences but it's always with affection and respect. Hopefully I'm doing it without any kind of hatred in my heart, and I'm just saying it like I feel it. I totally respect republicans and conservatives, I understand how they feel, I get the alienation part of it, I feel the same myself as a democrat. I refuse to engage in petty name calling. I just simply have my preferences when it comes to issues as I suspect you do too, and I honor your choices. I may disagree but in the end I honor your choices.
  17. I think it's a rather bizarre statement to claim that all Buddhists are morally depraved, as with any society there are people who simply don't have any boundaries, they're called sociopaths or psychopaths. It's no different here.
  18. After all it's not as if we have nine alternative planets that we can move to, once we foul this one to an irreversible extent.
  19. If you don't have the money then immediate forfeiture of your family home with no possibility of appeal. You made a big mistake, you allowed your dogs to kill somebody, and you are now renters for the rest of your life.
  20. That should not come as a surprise, the man has earned our hatred, he has earned our enmity, he fosters hate and division every day of his life. He gets up in the morning and he has nothing but venom for all mankind. That's just who he is, he does not have a nanogram of goodwill in his entire 306 lb. frame and he's a bitter, nasty piece of work.
  21. Doesn't really matter how my need to debate cycles the man's been through, experience doesn't count when someone is incapable of learning or adapting. The man's is just too dim to take experience to heart and actually use it. He will get creamed. And he does not deal with humiliation well, so there's a chance that will have a mental breakdown.
  22. It is not really that hard to kill someone who is abusing you. There are a dozen fairly easy ways to take a life. I know for sure if I was in the position he was in I wouldn't think twice about taking a life or two, to gain my freedom if I were being abused to that extent. The second advantage of killing that couple would be that there would likely be no retribution against his family.
  23. Is the purpose of these threads to be a benefit to others? That is certainly open to interpretation. I think it's more about expressing our opinion and having a forum to do so, and I consider this forum to be fantastic in that regard. I'm not trying to change the world. I'm not trying to change people's minds, I respect other people having a different point of view, but I'm also happy that I'm able to express mine. And as you can tell I do have a rather strong point of view on this topic and that hate filled man.
  24. If not by law enforcement then most certainly by the community. In general I'm not an advocate of vigilante justice, however I do think there is a time and place for it.
  25. I do agree with him on the pronoun thing. I consider it ridiculous. His statement about gays was a mistake. Love is love. Who cares what form it takes? This is a rich topic. Personally, I despise PC. And social justice authoritarianism. I think it represents alot of what is wrong with contemporary culture, and especially America today. It is a major form of weakness, when you allow yourself to be easily offended, and take everything personally. Granted, there are things that can be perceived as offensive, but allowing yourself to be offended by tiny little things people say and do is a bit much! But, the people who are offended daily, by things others say, are just weak, and would benefit by growing thicker skin. Life can be rough and caustic at times, and for those of us who have grown thick skin, it is like water off a ducks back. No big deal, at all. Think what you want to think. It just does not mean anything to those with self esteem, and a sense of who and what they are. Granted, these are just my opinions, and some will take offense to them. LOL. The US is by far the most tolerant country in the world when it comes to the whole trans, non-binary, amorosexual, decide whatever you want today, if it fits mentality. No other country is as loose, driftless, and as silly as the US. Perhaps the UK is not far behind. The notion that political correctness has “gone mad” is familiar to anyone who follows even vaguely any aspect of modern political or cultural life. The phrase, ostensibly referring to language or action that is designed to avoid offence or harm to protected groups, has become a sharp criticism. It is synonymous with a sort of cultural McCarthyism, usually committed by the left. https://www.economist.com/open-future/2018/09/10/has-political-correctness-gone-too-far A Rasmussen poll found that 71 percent of Americans think political correctness is a problem today. When is being politically correct more about civility and politeness? When when does it veer into censorship? When is it justified? When is it not justified? https://www.jacksonville.com/opinion/2016-09-30/has-political-correctness-gone-too-far University of Connecticut officials sent out a campus wide email advising its students that the school would provide counseling sessions in response to political commentator and Harvard Law alum Ben Shapiro’s slated speaking event at the university. The ironic part is that the counseling sessions were offered before Shapiro even stepped foot on campus. When I was in law school, Bill Clinton came and spoke. While I wasn't traumatized, I wonder whether the administration would have provided counselors for all the women in attendance. https://clclt.com/charlotte/pc-culture-10-times-its-gone-too-far/Content?oid=16059883
