Trump and Harris in Debate Showdown Dispute
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It is essential that Harris agree to a debate in a hostile environment like Fox. It would be a show of strength and courage, and that's needed at this point. I would also encourage her to do something similar to what Trump did with the black journalist conference and take interviews in hostile venues. Again that would be a show of strength, and it is likely she would not fail as spectacularly As Trump did at that conference. Otherwise she just simply looks like she's covering her butt and playing it way too safe. Be courageous Harris! -
You absolutely have to insist on assimilation and you have to make a staged approach to asylum based on an immigrants ability to prove that they're assimilating into society. I advocate that any Muslim family with a teenage daughter prove that she's participated in a bikini contest in public by the age of 16 and that their teenage sons have to prove they have no affiliation whatsoever with local Madrasas, or Mullahs preaching extremism. You want to live here, show us, and demonstrate that you will not remain culturally isolated, and will make an effort to move into the 21st century. If not, there shall be immediate consequences.

Kamala Harris Poised to Succeed Where Hilary Clinton Failed?
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Hillary Clinton was one of the worst campaigners in the last century, probably right up there with Mike Dukakis. Harris on the other hand seems to be very adept in this new campaign, she seems to be a fast learner, and I think she learned a lot from the last time around, and she's definitely picked up the ball and run with it quite well. I predict Harris by at least 11 million votes. Trump is a broken record at this point, he's increasingly incoherent, semi senile, and he's definitely losing the plot. See ya Don. May you and your super toxic family never be heard from again after this humiliating upcoming election loss. If Trump was serious about winning he could start by quitting hurling derogatory nicknames and ad hominem insults at his foes. He can ding Kamala on policy without making crass comments or veering into petty pot shots about her looks or gender that might make women balk. He and his running mate must certainly avoid missteps like the one Vance made in 2021, when he blasted “childless cat ladies” who run the country but are “miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.” He also foolishly suggested penalizing women without kids with higher taxes. For real? -
Poll: Who will Kamala Harris pick to be her VP?
spidermike007 replied to Jingthing's topic in Political Soapbox
It appears that Walz would be the most likely pick. I really like Shapiro but I recently found out that he was a orthodox practicing Jew, and even though I'm a Jew that's a turn off for me, as he was an unconditional supporter of Israel during their recent slaughter in Gaza. That is likely not going to play well. I have nothing against support for Israel but I think it should be highly conditional, and I think we should not support genocide against women and children. Israel ALWAYS has to be questioned, as the place is populated by alot of extremist politicians these days. Not good. I think charges should be brought against Netanyahu so I'm probably the last person to support Shapiro. For me Walz or Beshear would be the best two choices. Kelly is good, but too old and potentially too liberal. -
Trump and Harris in Debate Showdown Dispute
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I think it is very possible he will refuse to do the debate or he will find excuses not to do the debate, none of which have anything to do with the reasons you're suggesting, and all of which have to do with extreme cowardice and pathological fear of Harris, utter public humiliation, and facing a strong women. We know he cannot handle strong women. -
Thoughts on the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics
spidermike007 replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
No, I am not religious. And I don't see alot of people on the left calling for the eradication of Israel. Few Jews and Christians I know feel that way. A change of policy, yes. A halt to the killing of women and children, yes. An arrest warrant for Netanyahu, yes. -
Harris IQ is likely around 140. Trump IQ is likely around 85-95. Trump is increasingly unhinged and incoherent. Harris is scaring this man, and he is losing the plot. But, Harris needs to accept a hostile venue for the debate, to show she can beat him in any environment. Not doing so is foolish and makes her look weak, and scared. From the NY Post, a Murdoch owner paper, and a conservative one. It would appear they are losing faith in Don and JD. A warning to Donald Trump and JD Vance: Tread carefully when it comes to women, including Vice President Kamala Harris. All signs point to a tight race in November, and the GOP ticket is already behind with women: In five battleground states, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Harris leads by 9 points or more with the ladies. Closing that gap may be an uphill battle. Even if Trump were ahead, it would be foolish to ignore the power of women voters: About 7.4 million more women than men were registered to vote in 2022, according to the Center for American Women in Politics, and more women than men have voted in every presidential election since 1964. Besides, the chance to vote for a woman who feels like a relative newcomer will almost certainly attract female voters who sat out other elections (or even some of those who pulled the lever for Trump in 2016 because they couldn’t stomach the alternative). Sure, there are plenty of women who want what Trump and Vance are selling: school choice, parental rights, a better economy, safer neighborhoods and a more secure border. But this is a different political landscape than 2016, and both Trump and Vance need to keep on the straight and narrow to avoid alienating female voters who might otherwise agree with them on policy. Maybe Trump should start by quitting hurling derogatory nicknames and ad hominem insults at his foes. For real? Vance’s comments resurfaced recently and spread like wildfire on social media, drawing backlash from even conservative women. Trump and Vance need to reassure women that they take them seriously as a voting bloc, and they have no interest in pushing national policy that controls women’s decisions on family matters. The GOP ticket knows women will play a major role in deciding this election — perhaps they should start acting like it.

Although many of us would like to see the baht crash, the reality is that the dollar was probably quite overvalued and the US stock markets are grossly overvalued. I expect a huge correction there in the next year or so. We might see the Dow drop to well under 20,000. Or more.

Thank you, it's always very helpful to attempt to inform people who absolutely refuse to read, and whose entire education on politics is derived from extremist and fake news podcasts.

You are either living on another planet or you don't follow sports, or you are blinded by your political Master. You obviously follow his tendency to engage is juvenile name calling. Many of us get past that by 6th grade. Biles is one of the greatest gymnasts of all time and a great hero to millions. Granted if you don't like people of color, you probably won't appreciate her but many of us think she is amazing. She's also a very graceful woman and a very elegant representative of her sport.

Motorbike Rider Dies After Crash in Rassada, Phuket
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Power poles and trees tend to be very unforgiving and they must be avoided at all costs. Those of us with driving skill, and a strong desire for not only survival, but the avoidance of terrible injury, are constantly scanning the road, in front of us, beside us, and behind us. There are an exceptionally high number of reckless fools on these roads, and it is the only way to preserve our lives, and those of our families, and friends, who may be driving with us, and depending on us. If driving, especially on a motorbike, treat the activity as an act of war, in a sense that you may be mowed down or killed at any moment. Getting on a scooter, or a motorcycle anywhere in Thailand, much less Phuket, Phangan, Dark Tao, or Samui without a very good helmet, is like playing Russian Roulette with three or four bullets in the chamber. It is absolutely asking for problems. The degree of recklessness here is astounding. Maintain eyes in the back of your head. Watch everyone. Expect craziness, insanity, lack of reason, and a complete lack of courtesy and respect on the roads, at all times. Expect cars and trucks to be coming at you in the wrong lane. Expect people to overtake you with the slimmest of margins. If riding a motorbike, only do so if you have many years of experience. Especially on the southern islands, where huge numbers of foreigners leave Thailand in a wooden box. Wear the best helmet you can afford. And drive like a grandmother. This applies to ex-pats too. Bring along an international drivers license. This helps you to avoid being fleeced by the local police franchisee. I have been riding bikes for over 50 years. Without any serious accidents. A few minor ones over the years. Riding a bike here is very dangerous. If not the highest, one of the highest fatality rates in the world. And an accident here can be very costly, to your person. Just ask yourself- do I have enough problems already, without a broken skull, or smashed head, or face injury, or lost eye? I have three friends who have been in motorbike accidents on Samui within the last several years. One still cannot walk, or talk or function on her own, from a motorbike accident, where she hit her head on the pavement going only 20 kph. The other one has lost alot of his mental capacity after hitting his head. He insisted for years he would never wear a helmet. Now, he seems 15 years older. The third one is a close friend, who was hit by a sidecar, and nearly lost his leg. 11 operations later, he can walk, but with a limp, and the leg has caused him constant problems, many years later. -
Trump and Harris in Debate Showdown Dispute
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump is very scared of Harris, he's very afraid of her dissecting him like a coroner in a live debate. However I think Harris is making a mistake by not agreeing to debate on Fox. I think it's healthy for her to walk into a hostile environment and perform well, and she should allow herself to be in those environments more frequently. Trump showed some guts by being interviewed during that black conference recently, he failed miserably but at least he tried. -
As well she should, after all when was the last time Trump has congratulated a black athlete for outstanding achievement? He just won't cross the divide as he is a hater, and a racist, and it goes against every fiber of his being to try to unite people. He really embarrassed himself recently at the black conference that he spoke at, and he showed just how out out of his element he was, and just how little he knows about black culture and people of color. He should stick with his proud boys, and white supremacists.

Pattaya rebranding as family-friendly destination to boost tourism
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Well Pattaya is a pretty large city and I think it does have the potential to attract families. Now I think it's mostly Thai families, who knows maybe they can attract some foreign families. They do have a few go-kart tracks which are quite good, and perhaps some other amusement parks like that could do the trick. Many of us do consider it to be the PFP sex capital of the planet, and it will likely remain so in the coming decades. Especially with the dramatic decline of action on Phuket and Samui. Let us hope. LOL. -
Thailand represents itself as a democracy to the world, yet it steals elections on a consistent basis when the elite and the top powers do not like the result. This is not the way a democracy works. Kudos to the American senator for calling out Thailand on their nonsense, more nations need to call out Thailand for their misbehavior, as shame and humiliation seem to be one of the few things here that really works, when it comes to change and reform. If they had a conscience, which they don't, the leaders here would be ashamed of themselves.

spidermike007 replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
Just another in a series of misinterpretations and extreme exaggerations when it comes to calling out Israel for extremist policies. I am an American Jew and I frequently speak out against Israeli policy. I despise Hamas, and an thrilled their leader was taken out. However I also despise extremism in any form and Israeli foreign policy of late has been pure extremism, genocidal, horrific, and calling them out is not even bordering on being antisemitic. That's just a juvenile and conservative meme at this point. -

So thankful we avoided that route. I like kids, but never felt the need to own one or two of them. And the last thing this world needs right now, is more kids.

Kim Jong Un Hopes for Trump's Return, Elite Defector Reveals
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Dictators love Trump, and he loves them all. He wishes he could be one. It is likely that nearly every other head of state that met with Trump during his term, walked away shaking their head in disgust and disbelief. -
Srettha, Anutin laugh off speculation of “substitute PM”
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They likely spend a lot of time laughing about how they stole the election from the people, and about how they were appointed by higher powers, and how untouchable they are. They are the last people in the world who should be leading Thailand at this time. They are dull, regressive dinosaurs. -
My personal opinion, is that for most people who speak the Western languages, they are able to think in circles. Most of us are taught the art of creativity, and the virtues of an open mind. So, if you mispronounce or improperly state something, an effort will be made to try and stretch the mind, to figure out what you have just said, and what it means. This is especially true of Spanish. Not as much with French. It is not at all the case with Thai. If you do not nail it, it is your fault, and little effort can and will be made to accommodate your lack of perfection. It becomes a huge challenge when trying to speak or converse here. If the tones are not right, most Thai people are completely lost or unable, or unwilling to even venture a guess as to what you are saying. The exact opposite is the case with most Spanish speaking people, nearly anywhere in Latin America. And that makes it so much more rewarding.

I've always disliked the police in the US, ever since I was in my early teens, they've done very little to earn my respect. When I was living in New York the beat cops who used to walk the street were pretty cool, and I would have frequent interactions with them that were very pleasant. I'd buy them coffee and pastries and we had a nice rapport, but I hear those days are gone. I have law enforcement in the family, and I respect the job they are doing. Does not mean I like them all. I treat them with respect and regard them kindly. It is up to them whether or not they choose to be butt heads or not. A cop friend told me once, that if you get pulled over, always try to get the cop to laugh. He said it was a tough job, and if someone got him to laugh, he would nearly always let them slide with a warning, even if they were speeding. So, I usually say "Officer I am sorry I am late. I did everything in my power to get here just as fast as I could!". It often gets a chuckle out of them, and that is a good start. As an older white man, driving a decent car, I do not fit any police profile. Yet, some choose to be absolutely ugly people. It is their choice. I did not provoke them on any level. Some are just idiots, with a lot of power and guns, and terrible personalities. I know they have tough jobs, and I would not want to be in their shoes. In Los Angeles, the LAPD are absolutely horrendous, no social skills at all. The LA County Sheriffs are not bad, it really depends on the police department. The CHP are generally quite polite and decent. Some are better than others, but alot of US cops are drunk on power. A small percent of them are brutal and completely lost. I do agree law enforcement is out of control in the US. There is institutional racism, no doubt. And there is a dramatic need to reform the police, re-train them, and make some major changes in the initial training. And what they say about US police unions is absolutely correct. THEY are the reason so many police who kill unarmed men, walk free. Here I don't mind the police, they stay out of my face and I try to stay out of theirs. I find most here to be polite.

In my opinion he started to fade in the last year of his presidency. He may have had a minor stroke. Since then, it has been a steady downhill path. Far less coherent than in the past, very hard for him to continue a sentence for more than 15 seconds, alot of rambling, complaining, playing the victim card, and juvenile name calling as usual. Even most of the CEO's he met with a month ago were shocked at how lacking his message was. And now, he seems to regret his choice of Vance, and seems very stressed out over Harris. Can't blame him for that. He does seem to be imploding.

I don't want her to work. Thankfully we don't need her to spend 50 hours a week slaving away for someone. I would rather have her around, as she is delightful. And it makes traveling alot easier. We don't have kids, and we are very thankful for that gloriously wise decision. She is a gourmet cook, helps around the house (we have a maid for cleaning), and spends alot of time with her friends, so I get enough solo time. It works out very well for both of us.
