  1. Comparing the Trump family to the Kennedy family would be a bit like comparing Kim Kardashian to Sophia Loren. There is just no comparison, they are ridiculous family, nearly all of them are ridiculous people, and I think if Trump does get reelected he will get run out of town at the end of his term, after destroying the economy, attempting, but failing to tear up the constitution, and degrading relations with nearly every US ally.
  2. Skytrax is alot more credible. Thai is NOT a top ten airline. I've flown on them many times including a recent trip from Paris to Bangkok and although I didn't have any complaints, it was nowhere near top 10 in service or amenities. Business class might be a different story on some flights, but unfortunately I did not fly in that class.
  3. Well you are making a lot of assumptions, and your primary assumption is that there are plenty of legal workers available, which is often times not the case. That does not simply apply to Thailand, this is a worldwide phenomena.
  4. How do you suggest they accomplish that goal, and what would they do that Biden has not done? To many of us, it appears that Biden has been very obedient and behaving like Israel's lapdog already. And Israel has been quite aggressive.
  5. This guy either appears to be very ignorant or delusional if he thinks winning the war with Hamas, and all the other factions in that region is that simple, and there would be no threat of blowback of any sort. He reminds me a bit of the neocon political simpletons.
  6. That is such a completely ridiculous law and is counter-intuitive on a dozen different levels. It is very likely that Musk is moving for several reasons, and not just that reason. Many major companies have left California and the vast majority of people that I know who lived in California and could afford to move elsewhere have already done so. The quality of life has declined dramatically and the cost of living has skyrocketed, while the politics have become increasingly more extreme and progressive, in a very negative way. Extreme politics on either the left or the right are dreadful.
  7. In many areas of Thailand the legal minimum wage is between 300 and 400 Baht per day, which is what they're paying their Burmese workers. They're not trying to get away with paying less than that, however many Thai workers will not accept that wage for really hard work, and they're forced to hire immigrants, whether they're illegal or not. That is precisely why your statement was so ridiculous and ignorant of the facts and the reality on the ground, at the same time.
  8. When you engage in shameless gouging and practice an ugly form of corporate greed, there are consequences, and sometimes when all is right in the world the public just simply says no, I don't think so. No I'm not going there, no I'm not going to pay triple, that's not going to happen, and instead of buying your ticket they just simply turn around and walk in another direction. You can't then turn around and ask the government for assistance, you have to simply accept responsibility for failed corporate policy. Or accept the failure that you created.
  9. I would not want a wife with a higher degree. For a dozen good reasons. Most women want financial stability anywhere in the world, whether they admit it or not. The difference is here the women are more honest about their financial needs and desires. I know a lot of men who have engaged in relationships with lovely, kind, supportive, humorous, and sexy women here, who are no longer lonely. We have very good lives. Fulfilling lives. Lives we could never dream of having back in the US, Oz, NZ, UK, Canada, or Scandinavia. Even though my wife is very smart, I do not get much intellectual stimulation from the relationship. But, I get so much else. And in all of the relationships I was ever in with really smart women, who I got intellectual stimulation from, there was also so much grief to contend with. Such combative women. So much competition. Yikes. Thrilled to death to have left all of that behind. When I was only in the relationship for a year or so, I had dinner with a very sharp American friend. I asked him about that. He laughed. He said, when you feel the need for intellectual stimulation, call me. We can hook up for the meal, and break down the origins of the cosmos. Do not fret. That same brain that gives you that stimulation, also tends to give you so much grief, it is not worth it, on any level. Get over it. Enjoy all of the other qualities, that make your day so delightful and fulfilling. Great advice, that I have followed to this day. I learned long ago that an intellectual woman, who can match me intellectually, also tends to be a combative woman, and the chance of harmony is low. I for one, love a harmonious house, where my woman is joyful and light hearted, with a great sense of humor, and an amazing attitude toward life, and us. Just my point of view. Whatever works for you, stick with it.
  10. You won. The MRSD award. The most ridiculous statement of the day. Keep up the good work.
  11. Politics is only a small part of the problem here. The economy is still reeling after 9 years of the "Prayuth Decimation" and tremendous levels of incompetence with regard to economic policy. From what I hear new car sales are down over 40%, the used car market is dead, condo and home sales are down, and manufacturers are leaving Thailand in droves, with very little new investment coming in. Thailand is in for quite a ride over the next few years, and that doesn't even take into account the probability of a huge worldwide economic correction, which I believe is coming. Thailand has witnessed nearly 2,000 factory closures in the past year, upending its manufacturing sector thatcontributes nearly a quarter of its gross domestic product (GDP). “The industrial sector has slumped, and capacity utilisation has fallen below 60 per cent,” Mr Srettha told Parliament last week. “It is clear that the industry needs to adapt.” As a result, job losses jumped by 80 per cent during the same period, with more than 51,500 workers left without work, the data shows. https://www.straitstimes.com/business/thai-economy-faces-upheaval-due-to-factory-closures-cheap-chinese-imports
  12. Thailand seems to be the hub of soft power. Very, very soft.
  13. The problems are far greater than this administration will admit. Alot of it is out of their control. And the parts which are within their control are not being addressed, due to an enormous lack of talent and intelligence in this bought and paid for proxy administration. Thailand has witnessed nearly 2,000 factory closures in the past year, upending its manufacturing sector that contributes nearly a quarter of its gross domestic product (GDP).
  14. Thailand would collapse overnight without Burmese workers. They work hard, and they work for less than their Thai counterparts, and like in the US, these immigrants do work the locals have no interest in doing.
  15. What level of credibility does US News have, when it comes to judging Thailand on it's beauty? I have traveled to 50 countries or so. Thailand does have pretty areas, but is not even in the top 30. Italy is one of the most beautiful. Thailand is nowhere close. Can one compare Bangkok to Florence? Or Pattaya to Venice? Or Pai to Tuscany? Please. Such desperation.
  16. Who ever heard of an investment in the construction of a Japanese hospital? I have an igloo community clinic I am looking for investors in. It pays a 24% return. What can one say? If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is.
  17. Two or three terms max. And an age limit of 70. Same for a president. No one runs if over 70. Way too old for the office. Both Don and Joe are way over the hill, for this job.
  18. This is a new and bizarre way to deal with your debts. What can one even say? The hospital investment sounded a bit fishy. Japan does not likely need outside investors for construction of a hospital, does it?
  19. Ending lifetime appointments wound be a great thing. These justices do not deserve that, they represent one of the poorest courts in many decades, and they are highly partisan. I would also advocate adding at least six more justices, before Biden is done.
  20. One of the most bizarre projections, so far this year. Who dreams up this stuff? And in regard to Paris, who would want to attend an Olympics? Hard to even imagine the crowds, the congestion in a city famous for its traffic, and the insane pricing.

  22. This is very serious stuff. Foreigners drinking beer on the river. Foreigners walking around in a bikini on a hot day. This could tear apart the very fabric of the nation and lead to utter and complete moral degradation. Something must be done to arrest the slide. What could happen next. We must maintain our purity.
  23. How will this have an impact on tourism? It was an isolated event, among folks who knew each other, and it was related to a loan gone south. This is not the same as a random murder. It will have no impact on people planning trips here.
  24. That's funny yeah, there's a certain subset of people who are incapable of looking within for the source of the problem, and simply cannot handle criticism. They cannot take responsibility for their own actions and admit that they might have made an error or created a problem. It is likely an indication of extremely low self-esteem, and the inability to ever establish personal self confidence. It is a blight on the land.
  25. Hua Hin is a very decent town, pleasant people, some bars, good food, beaches are not great, but they're okay. There are some very nice resorts, and it's a fun place to hang out. I like the ex-pat population there. Older, and more affluent. Cha-am on the other hand is just awful, there's just nothing there. It reminds me of Coney Island or Kuta in Bali. Yikes.
