PM Buys Oil Painting At Pattani Market For 30,000 Baht
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't know why this would be a news item, what's the big deal, a wealthy guy spends $850 on a painting and supports a local artist. So what? -
I would be happy to use the train if they operated in a timely manner. I've waited as long as 3 hours for a train that's supposed to be a 4-Hour trip. That is just complete nonsense. Thailand is 70 years behind the curve when it comes to developing alternative forms of transportation, and it had resulted in highways that are choked with trucks of all sizes. It's decades behind the curve when it comes to developing high speed rail with decent quality carriages. It's an abomination, it's an embarrassment, it's egg on the face of the nation, and it's testament to the extreme lack of vision and planning on the part of the rather pathetic government officials, who have supposedly been running this nation.

It is likely less than 1% of the population is driving the woke agenda, and yet the progressive wing of the democratic party in the US has been completely paralyzed and hypnotized into buying into it, and supporting it. When you add in the entire educational system and universities it's gotten to the point where 99% of the people who are not buying it, are expected to support it. Just say no to the nonsense and do it in an adamant fashion. People who insist that they need safe spaces are a coddled generation that know nothing about strength, and conviction, and take solace and comfort in claiming to be a victim. We know how fake that is, and we know how nonsensical it is. No thanks. I won't play that game.

Over a century of refusing to address the many issues, the former Malaysian population has, comes at a price. As an autonomous polity, the Sultanate of Pattani had a loose tributary relation with Thailand (then Siam) since the 16th century, but when the political climate of the two polities changed in 1810s, Thailand attempted to assert control over her southern periphery by separating Patani into seven small states, each ruled by a hereditary sultan. During the last decade of the 1800s and the turn of the 20th century, Patani saw a tremendous change in its political sphere as a Thai royal commissioner was appointed to strengthen control over local rulers. In 1906 the position of the sultan was abolished and seven Malay states were reorganized again as Monthon Pattani under the direct jurisdiction of the central government in Bangkok, marking the end of Patani as a sultanate state. A traditional tributary sent to Bangkok in the form of ornamental tree made of gold and silver, and other local products were abolished. Needless to say, this process provoked discontentment among Malay elites which fostered and led to a separatist movement in 1950s and in the following years, a militant insurgency by radical Muslims in the southernmost part of Thailand that has continued into the present. https://www-archive.cseas.kyoto-u.ac.jp/www/2016/2014/05/viewing-deep-south-thailand-from-a-historical-perspective/

Perhaps this would be a way for the average person to enjoy a concert with a good seat for under $500? Concert prices have ballooned to the point where many don't even consider them anymore. Same applies to sporting events around the world. And I thought Covid was going to bring down prices. How wrong I was!!

And they should be. The staggering level of corruption in the RTP is legendary. Wealthy people rarely ever get prosecuted for anything. And if they do, the courts are weak and feeble and also corrupt. Just one of the reasons why Thailand is not taken seriously in the international stage. Lock up Big Joke and his ilk. It is likely few of the higher ups are honest.

The highway from just past the river, to km. 36 is an abomination. It is very dangerous, way too congested in both directions, and the amount of time it is taking is horrendous. How long has the work been going on? And how long will the additional work take? 20-30 years to build a highway in one of the most congested areas of the nation is a national embarrassment. I know it is a huge project, but is this Thailand, or Burkina Faso? Please. Of course it affects the willingness of people to make that trip south and to endure the return trip. I will only head into BKK past 9pm, or head out at 5:30am, or on Sundays. The fact that there is NO alternative transportation to HH is disastrous. Such a lack of vision. The airport should be a regional hub, and remains one of the least utilized airports in SE Asia. That is pathetic. Heads should be reeling.

I love what Clint Eastwood, a real man, said about PC. In an interview, he elaborates further: “I’m never cautious about what I say because, you know, I’ve been around a long time, what can they do? The political correctness era that we’re in is really not doing anyone any good. It’s taking everyone and weakening society. It doesn’t seem that people have to take themselves so serious,” Eastwood said. “It seems like, I’m just lucky that I grew up in an era where we all lived in an area where everybody joked about everything. Nothing was politically incorrect because everything was always a joke with a sense of humour. People sometimes are losing that and taking themselves and everyone else seriously. I think they’re missing a lot and not enjoying the differences that we all have.” I am the least PC guy you will encounter. It is not a lack of respect. I have plenty of that. It is all about the cancel culture, and the extreme weakness that PC creates within a culture. I just will not have anything to do with any of that. As I get older, I am developing a new skill set. I am becoming very good at ignoring nonsense, ignorance, naivety, and overly judgmental people. They barely register on my horizon. Social media seems to have amplified things and the media itself is "overly woke", which essentially means unconscious. I just don't care. Water off a ducks back. Don't have time for the foolishness.

Do some People have no concept of Noise?
spidermike007 replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
They are descendants of cossack warriors who murdered people because it was a convenient way to steal their fur coat. They are not a gentle people generally they are very gruff, loud and unfriendly. My best suggestion would be to leave the condo and rent a house, if you want quiet get yourself a house. I live in a house in a nice development and it's quiet all day and all night. I don't think it's reasonable to expect quiet when you're living on top of each other such as you are in many of the condo buildings here. And there's certainly not much that you could do about the noise, the ruckus, the loud people, and the disturbances when living in a condo building. I'm sure the more luxurious buildings are different, but most condo buildings here have tiny units that are very much crammed together. And what crowd is attracted to a 6-10,000 baht per month condo? -
Anytime you have a country where justice can be bought and paid for, the justice system is completely broken beyond repair. All of these creeps should be locked up, yet they all remain free with zero consequences for their actions. Anyone who's worth over 200 million baht here is above the law, the way it's always been, hopefully it's not the way it will always. Something has to change, eventually the youth will take over and at that point we might see a semblance of morality and ethics within government. One can only dream.

This is the kind of thing that juvenile personalities, with very small minds engage. In a developed mind when a relationship is not working out do what you can to improve things, and if you cannot fix it you simply move on. That's how real men behave. With dignity and care for others.

Trump appeals fraud case as $112,000-a-day interest accrues
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The real peril that he's in as I see it, is that very few bondsmen, individuals or companies will be willing to lend him money due to the fact that he'll likely have the shield of presidency. Most know that he's a conniver, a liar and a fraud, and with that background they'll consider it very risky to lend money to a man who's going to become incoming president, with a shield of immunity. So let us hope this is the beginning of the end for the king of fraud. -
If Gen Z is any indication of what future generations are going to be like I suspect the species won't last very long, it'll get at the point where a flu will take out a 12-year-old, the weakness level will be that great. Two days of pain and suffering and their life wains.

In this day and age of extreme woke agendas, I doubt if these men are even allowed to venture into the fun zones. After all sex is a terrible thing, it results in all kinds of perversion, and it's just not healthy for young men to have sex. Sex is very very bad. Especially the no strings attached kind of sex. Totally immoral. And America is a highly moral nation, led by ememplary leaders.

Thailand aims to become Southeast Asia’s data centre hub
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just more hot air from the do-nothing men who refuse to take action and just sit in an office all day collecting a salary and making this stuff up. Thailand can't even establish the ability to create solid state drives and therefore the world is moving away from Thailand as a manufacturer of hard drives. Yet they want to become a high-tech data center. I don't think so, dream on little men, that's all you seem to be able to do. All talk and no action makes Somchai and Sretta very dull boys. -
Personally, I despise PC. And social justice authoritarianism. I think it represents alot of what is wrong with contemporary culture, and especially America today. It is a major form of weakness, when you allow yourself to be easily offended, and take everything personally. Granted, there are things that can be perceived as offensive, but allowing yourself to be offended by tiny little things people say and do is a bit much! But, the people who are offended daily, by things others say, are just weak, and would benefit by growing thicker skin. Life can be rough and caustic at times, and for those of us who have grown thick skin, it is like water off a ducks back. No big deal, at all. Think what you want to think. It just does not mean anything to those with self esteem, and a sense of who and what they are. Granted, these are just my opinions, and some will take offense to them. LOL. The US is by far the most tolerant country in the world when it comes to the whole trans, non-binary, amorosexual, decide whatever you want today, if it fits mentality. No other country is as loose, driftless, and as silly as the US. The notion that political correctness has “gone mad” is familiar to anyone who follows even vaguely any aspect of modern political or cultural life. The phrase, ostensibly referring to language or action that is designed to avoid offence or harm to protected groups, has become a sharp criticism. It is synonymous with a sort of cultural McCarthyism, usually committed by the left. https://www.economist.com/open-future/2018/09/10/has-political-correctness-gone-too-far No woman would survive more than 30 minutes in the NFL. Women will not participate in men's sports because they won't be able to handle the physical endurance required, nor the brutality, nor the talent level. A woman ranked #5 on the WTA could not beat a #758 man on the ATP as John McEnroe so truthfully stated. Hopefully all this craziness will pass and we'll return to some form of normalcy and indecency. The term first appeared in the Marxist-Leninist vocabulary following the Russian Revolution (really, a coup) of 1917 to describe strict adherence to policies and principles of the Soviet Union’s Communist Party. “Political correctness” was invented by the communists to camouflage the truth about events and policies in the Soviet Union that had resulted in mass murders, the starvation of millions, and slave labor camps. It was “politically incorrect” to reveal such facts; the “party line” was for all loyal communist party members to promote the same “politically correct truths” about the “good life” under totalitarian government.

Trump appeals fraud case as $112,000-a-day interest accrues
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
This is really beautiful how this is unfolding, up until now this fraud has been able to pretend that he's a multi-billionaire, many of us know differently. The conman barely has a half a billion dollars cash available to him to cover his current obligations, and he is scrambling, you can bet he is scrambling right now to save his empire, and millions upon millions around the world hope against hope that his empire crumples. He has worked hard to earn that enmity over a career of crime spanning 45 years. Lock up Trump. -
Quantity over quality only works if you're selling one dollar items at a swap meet. It doesn't work for tourism, the state of the tourism industry is diminishing by the day, due to an extraordinary lack of intelligence on the part of the officials. As far as the sexpat talk goes, yes there are some who come here for that, but from what I'm told by people to run foundations that cater to women in the industry the vast majority of customers are Thai or Asian, not westerners.

The terribly dangerous aspect of all this sense of victimhood, safe places and a lot of this other woke and PC nonsense is that it's fostering a spectacularly weak generation of people who are not prepared for any of the problems that life will throw their way. Any of the challenges they might face in the coming years or something catastrophic like war and famine, and they would just crumble. The slightest issues, problems or catastrophe might be too much for this overly coddled group to handle. Gen Z could be the weakest generation in the history of mankind. We are most definitely moving backwards as a civilization. Social media combined with the lost art of parenting are primarily to blame.

More incentives for growers not to burn sugarcane before harvesting
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Exactly it's the wealthy and the elite who own these sugar refineries, and do not give one iota of consideration to the environment, nor the common man, nor his plight, nor the laws, nor the health of the nation. It is the incessant and non-stop worship of the golden calf, this is their God. -
How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
spidermike007 replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
While I agree with what you're saying fundamentally, Latin America has a considerably higher level of violence then Thailand does, especially in regard to the locals preying on foreigners. Granted there's a lot of craziness here Thai on Thai, but foreigners seem to be left alone for the most part. That could change if things get really crazy, but I still think that a rural area or a small town is far preferable to a big city and I think most would agree. -
Was the theft of the car and the murder of the man directly related? If so that's one rather dramatic way to deal with crime. I've been reading about stories of people in the US who have been getting their cars stolen, and broken into, and the trend is increasing dramatically. Some of them are taking some rather extreme measures to avoid this fate. Thankfully this is not a rampant problem here at this point.

The Thai economy is in far worse condition than the officials like to admit, the Prayuth Decimation continues to affect the nation on countless levels, and I don't think things are going to get better anytime soon. Keep in mind we still have extremely incompetent army goons within the administration, and Sretta is finance minister in addition to being PM. That was a mistake of historic proportions. Sometimes a mistake is wearing white after Labor Day in New York City, other times a mistake is invading Russia with the approach of winter.
