  1. Again, another strange opinion. Do you recall the nature of the discussion? It was about ganga. Quite different than yaba and meth, in the way it effects the system. Or course drugs cause mayhem. Ganga? Rarely.
  2. Woke and PC are being used by both sides to wage a cultural war. As a Democrat, I think it is worse on the left. It is being weaponized. Careers are being destroyed over honest, sensible statements, in my opinion. I don't like it, and it is driving me away from being able to relate to the party, as a moderate.
  3. Some cops tend to be very resentful that they are not getting part of the action. And imagine posting something on FB, about a gambling den? Where are the basic survival instincts? Where is the common sense? Many things in life are better left unshared.
  4. A little smooching and hugging, was as far as they got. I had a rule when I was dating back in the US. No action by the 3rd date, and see ya! She had some excuse like a recent breakup and she needed to go slow. But, the dinners were great, and so was the fine wine!
  5. You have some strange opinions. Sure, there will likely be some accidents. But, compared to alcohol related deaths? A mere pinhead.
  6. Very true. Right now in America around 70% of the population are really struggling to make ends meet. The top 10% are doing great. The next 10% are doing quite well. Then the 70th to 80th percentile are living well, but barely saving anything. The last 70%? And that is the US.
  7. Getting rid of Big Joke would help to inspire confidence. Maybe. Also, doing good work helps too. It actually helps alot, and would surprise many.
  8. I would love to see the nearly non existent highway patrol begin to enforce the minimum speed limits in the fast lane on highways, with real penalties. Word would get around quickly, and the dangerous and highly disrespectful truck drivers who hog the fast lanes, even when they are not passing, would be put down a notch. They are incredibly annoying and take alof of the joy out of road trips here.
  9. What can one say? Possession is one thing. Penalizing someone for smoking ganga recently is beyond egregious. Hopefully word will get around, and Malaysia will be wearing an ugly black eye over this kind of overly puritanical behavior, for many years to come.
  10. Alot of my single friends back in the US are smart, charming, successful and wonderful men. Here, I have a few single friends who simply cannot afford to have a woman in their lives. But wow. Alot of profoundly ugly judgment, in one post. Perhaps the "most judgmental post of the week"? No need to address any specifics when a man has his mind set on tearing down the lifestyle of any other, with a very limited amount of information to work with, and alot of preconceived nations. I tend to be more a life and let live sort.
  11. I mention that I am a student of history. With a particular interest in ancient Sukhothai architecture. Especially late 13th century temples built during the reign of King Ram Kamhaeng, and the fascinating Chedi designs. Wow. Talk about a look of utter confusion on their faces!
  12. She is adorable. She must be very smart too.
  13. The navy did the right thing. We do respect your culture. And there is nothing disrespectful about wearing a bikini on a beach. We don't object to the locals bathing fully clothed, though it is very odd. Show some respect to our culture too. We tend to use a bathing suit for swimming. LOL. Not like we aren't bringing anything to the table here.
  14. Getting rid of big joke once and for all would go a long way toward helping to inspire some confidence. Hard work, sincere concern about traffic safety, and a modest degree of integrity would help too. Banish the joke!
  15. Correct. Counting every baht each month would be a tough cross to bear. I don't live a life of luxury, but I live very well here.
  16. More like overly simplistic. Why would I want to live in the US, if I don't have to? There are a dozen good reasons for living here. Most of my friends who can afford it, are leaving the US. It is a broken nation, a bankrupt culture and hopelessly divided. You pay regardless of where you live. Many of my friends in the US don't even have control of their own money. They can't even make a decision to buy something expensive without "getting permission", and often the woman says NO. Nothing wrong with taking care of a good woman. I really like doing so. Mine really deserves the care and support she gets. But, she does bring alot to the table. She works, she is smart, funny, sexy, beautiful, quite a bit younger than me (my preference, by a long shot) and very supportive of me. I could not ask for a better woman, and there is no way I could find a gal like her in the West. Never happen. Nearly every friend I have in the US is single. Why? Because for a man in the US, who is past the age of 50, unless he is willing to get with a woman at least his age, his prospects are dim for finding love, or companionship. Some guys like me, simply prefer younger women. Not kids, but women who are 10, 15, even 20 or 25 years younger than us. For a dozen very valid reasons. I could break them down, but why bother? The PC crew will jump on this and say it is not right. You should not be able to have this kind of life, without jumping over ridiculous hurdles! Means nothing to me. I do not do PC. Why be with a woman our age, if we do not need to? Nothing wrong with it, if it works for you. But It is virtually impossible for a 60 year old man in the US, to hook up with a 36 year old woman, unless she is very fat or very ugly, or he is a centi millionaire, or is famous. Period. It just does not happen in this day and age. Here it is possible. Granted he will likely get with a woman of lesser means, who needs a guy who can provide some financial stability. So what? Who cares? Most women want financial stability anywhere in the world, whether they admit it or not. The difference is here the women are more honest about their financial needs and desires. I know a lot of men who have engaged in relationships with lovely, kind, supportive, humorous, and sexy women here, who are no longer lonely. We have very good lives. Fulfilling lives. Lives we could never dream of having back in the US, OZ, NZ, UK, Canada, or Scandinavia.
  17. I don't. They jacked my premium one too many times. Sorry. Homey don't play that game. No claims and ever rising premiums and I said hit the door, Jack. I self insure. I do have a decent accident policy, which is reasonable. And I take out travel insurance when I travel back to the US. And car insurance. Other than that, no other insurance. See ya. Don't miss ya.
  18. Oh, God forbid. I am so grateful to be living in Thailand. I can't imagine what it would take to compel me to live in America. Now? The nation is such a pale shadow of what it used to be. $5 million over 3 years? Yeah. I would live there for that.
  19. I often wonder the same thing about American men. But, I am grateful most just done know, don't care, or are too set in their ways to make a big change. The quality of my life in Thailand is so vastly superior to the way I would be living in the US. I am in the US again for business. There is little joy here. And inflation is beyond your ability to fathom. Stupid is the best way to describe pricing on most anything. And woe are my single friends here. One just told me after 8 dates, over $1000 spent on meals, concerts, etc. she just informed him she does not think they are compatible. Huh?
  20. Exactly the same thing. Becoming negative by enduring the human condition does not imply we are bad people. We are simply lost souls. By rejecting that which comes naturally, we are able to rise above it.
  21. Was the meeting really that important? It is just politics. And how does that justify anything? Charge him as you would anyone. Sounds like manslaughter to me. Or an accomplice to manslaughter. Lock him up. This world needs one fewer MP.
  22. It is like saying the GDP of Burkina Faso is growing quickly. Of course numbers are up. Easy to rise up from zero. It is the quality of tourist and the real numbers that matter. Let us wait and see. I hope it improves, for the local Thais.
  23. It has always been a huge income source for them. Have had friends who purchase weed from police captains for years. Where does their weed come from? Confiscated weed is rarely destroyed here. It is capitalized upon.
  24. So much could be said about this. For me, it is all about attitude. And proper gratitude. It comes and goes, for me. Positivity is a quality that has to be nurtured and cultivated. It is NOT the natural state of the human mind. This is why so few have that magic. You have to dig deep for it, and it takes effort to maintain the perspective to keep it. It is a gift and a huge blessing. And one people want to be around. It is a key to success, fulfillment, longevity, and daily contentment. It is definitely not about money. Money helps. But, it can also hinder. It is only a tool.
  25. I am grateful too, to live in Thailand.
