Thai pass and stop in Singapore
aussiexpat replied to Tayida's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You need to be in the country you apply for a Thai Pass for 21 days. You can't go to another country and would need to stay in Singapore 21 days and apply from there. From Thai Pass site: -
For the 5-6 day Test, does arrival day count as day 1 or day 0? I arrived 8am Friday so assume I can be tested with 2nd PCR on Tuesday?

^3 pools at my condo, all open as normal

I can't help but think Pattaya demise has been significantly overstated lol I see 5 star bar on the beach is open and I'm currently having a beer at red cat bar at corner of beach and soi 8. If these open air bars are open right next to the police station then everything is good ???? In fact every regular hang out I go to is open (except Retox), lucky me ????

When is ASQ not ASQ?
aussiexpat replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Should I just name the hotel and let people report? I was cleared at 8pm so was free to go, thought I would go to 7/11 across the road. It was about 200m so decided couldn't be bothered. Thing is, security guard let me out, no questions, do whatever you want. I could have been anyone who just arrived then mixing with Thai locals at 7/11. I also tried to check out this morning, no-one cared to even talk to me. Finally they said just leave key on counter. I then got in taxi and drove out without question. Made me think I could have done a nana run with no questions if I came back lol -
When is ASQ not ASQ?

You've totally missed the point. I'm covid free for over 2 years, I limit my movements in last 3 days in Aus to ensure no exposure, I social distance and wear a mask for 13 hours travelling to Thailand... ...then I'm placed in a free for all quarantine facilty where all arrivals, including unvaccinated, are free to move around and eat buffet meals within a crowded space before they have received their negative PCR result. The point is I have no choice but to live with their rules. This is a super spreader occasion waiting to happen as I read over 5% of arrivals are currently testing positive on arrival. -
I made it back to Patts today. Condo was a mess after 2 years so after 2 hours of quick cleaning I needed a beer. The walk from the Urban to Irish Rovers didn't seem any different to 2 years ago (except massages were 200 baht for 2 hours, wow). I saw Rib Shack still open and Cheap Charlie's was packed. The Spaggetti is still at the drinking spot on corner of soi Dianna but the Aussie burger stall is gone ???? The Nest at the entry to LK looked pretty good but didn't go in. Irish Rovers waitresses just as friendly and beautiful as ever, Beer Singh cold as ice, about 10 people watching the Ashes, life is good ????

When is ASQ not ASQ?

I'm not worried about covid. I'm worried about getting infected in a mandatory quarantine hotel whereby I fail my 5-6 day PCR and end up carted away to a hospital for 10 days, even though not sick with any symptoms. -

Sure.....and then I'll be waiting for the police to show up at my door with the hazmat brigade sending me into 10 days hard quarantine as I stayed in an undisciplined ASQ under investigation... ...not to forget the defamation laws in Thailand... No thanks, I'm free now ???? -

A lesson here is to fully read the reviews before selecting a hotel. One person actually commented that a positive for the hotel is that you didn't have to wait for the PCR result before leaving your room. That all the red flag I would have needed. Another commented on their concern that all meals were to be served by a buffet, which they thought should definitely not be the safe process for an ASQ (I think buffets were one of the first things shut down in my country and was a big contributor to the cruise ship disasters) Imo, this hotel should be shut down immediately as an ASQ. -

I wish mine was the same. I waited far too long to get back and the enforced hospital prison for a positive PCR is too high a risk in such a sloppy ASQ. Too late now though, counting the minutes until 8pm result... -

Again, there is no misunderstanding, everyone is free to roam. The 2 guys I shared the airport taxi with were also dumbfounded by this. Oh yeah, he took us to the breakfast buffet straight after the PCR test, no words needed to misunderstand. Your free to do as you like ( but pool is closed as he said it was deemed to high risk lol) -

Especially the fact people are free to roam before they even get their arrival PCR result. Isn't there like a 5% positive rate on arrival lately? -

^ the hotel greeter was the person who explained it to me. He meets every guest, gets all their paperwork done and then takes us to our room explaining all aspects of the hotel. He spoke perfect English so there was no misunderstanding. He was convinced all ASQ are vaccinated so obviously noone told him the 10 day ASQ are not vaccinated.
