Thai Pass quandary
aussiexpat replied to Will B Good's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You're speaking common sense. Unfortunately Thailand has already said thailand Pass T&G applications will only open at 9am on Feb 1, because they seem to think all travellers can jump through all the hoops with one day notice -
Thai Pass quandary
aussiexpat replied to Will B Good's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He arrives 3 Feb. Test & Go Thai Pass only allowed to apply after 9am on 1 Feb with a published 7-10 day approval. Who would risk that? Best hope is current hotel booking will revert to test & go and refund the days not used? -
Best way to stay 59 days

And a passport like photo and copy of passport cover page, exempt arrival stamp and TM 6 departure card The form also asks for a "reason for extension". I always use wish to study Thai language more, but I don't think they really care what you say. -

@lorrilee61 I've travelled many times from Aus on visa exempt and its pretty easy to get the 30 day extension for 1900 baht. If you've never been to Thai immigration before it can be a little confusing so it's also easy to get the 60 day tourist visa which is valid to enter within 3 months of issue and costs A$60 (about 1400 baht). I chose not to get the tourist visa as it was unclear if covid insurance would then be required for 60 days (i got 30 days insurance for exempt) and it requires proof of accommodation, again unclear if that means all 60 days or just initial stay? Here are the Tourist Visa requirements: https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/toursit-visa-category-tr/ -

The OP is from Australia not UK. I arrived from Aus visa exempt on January 14 with a one way ticket. Airline asked how long I was staying to check covid insurance, they didn't ask to see an onward ticket I've also travelled many times on visa exempt with a ticket at 59 days (for some reason never wanted to risk going the maximum 60 days). Never had a problem. -
Test & Go (2x RT-PCR)
aussiexpat replied to ThaiVisaCentre's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just for info, I've been monitoring the TAT news site for over 6 months now during making my decision to travel back, so far its been 100% accurate (eg they never mentioned once about the 10th or 15 Jan T&G cut-off fiasco) It appears to me that TAT publishes what will be gazetted, while Thailand Pass can only update after it is gazetted -
Test & Go (2x RT-PCR)
aussiexpat replied to ThaiVisaCentre's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I just realised that if sandboxes are re-opened as per the TAT article in my post above, why would a real tourist that need hotels do test & go? Test & Go requires being locked in a room Day 1 and 5. Sandbox only locks you in a room Day 1 and you are free to roam for the 6 other days Test & Go just became more prohibitive than a sandbox for tourists (but better for expats) -
Test & Go (2x RT-PCR)
aussiexpat replied to ThaiVisaCentre's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
TAT news site is pretty clear "Allowing fully vaccinated travellers from around the world to apply for a TEST & GO Thailand Pass up to 60 days in advance with confirmed payments for accommodation on Day 1 and Day 5, two RT-PCR tests, and a prearranged airport transfer on Day 1" https://www.tatnews.org/2022/01/thailand-resumes-test-go-scheme-reopens-pattaya-and-ko-chang-sandbox-from-1-february-2022/ -
Test & Go (2x RT-PCR)

Why would hotels include day 5 airport pick-up, no-one is going to fly somewhere just for a 5th night quarantine. Also people would have been out in the community for 4 days catching random taxi's. Why would they need a specific hotel pick-up. In my case I could walk to a SHA+ hotel, it's about 500 metres from my Condo. I got my own taxi for 5th day Test on Thursday which took only an hour at Banglamung hospital, result back in 24 hours via Line. What is wrong with that approach? Forcing a 5th day taxi seems like yet another money grab to go with the hotel and 3 meals (whereas people could check out 4-8 hours later when their test result comes back) Note: OP I know these are not your rules so nothing neant towards you. -
Is the closure of your favorite bar or restaurant imminent?

I thought this was the "is your favourite bar or restaurant closure" thread, why list a random 21 room guesthouse for sale ad? -
Day 5-7 PCR test
aussiexpat replied to essex boys's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You must have been there same time as me as I was #20. I thought it was very easy and all seats were socially distanced. I received a notification on Mor Chana "by regulations you are required to submit your 7 day PCR test". Notification included a link. It asks for a lab report number which is not included in the Line report. I just uploaded a Line screenshot and used my testing ticket number 20 and it accepted it. -
Just back from Bangmalung PCR testing. Was expecting a horror story but it was a quite painless in and out in less than an hour 07:50 given a form to fill out, I was #20. No line and ample seats social distanced and in shade (noone with suit cases like previously reported) 08:00 they called #1 to have passport copied with ticket number and they take your pink slip. I was called at 08:10 and go indoors to wait (everyone seated and distanced) 08:25 #1 was called for test. As #20 I was called 08:35. The final stage was to load the hospital onto the line app so you can get result. Takes about a minute except the guy in front of me didn't have line installed while another didn't have wifi (nurse hotspotted him) All done at 8:45 which was pretty good since the sign said testing would only start at 09:00 ????

Thanks, saved me a trip. I guess it's Banglaumung covid fest or nothing. At least if I catch it there I can ATK and isolate at home...

If you don't need immigration during your visit there is no need to do a TM30. Just shows how stupid this rule is as I can stay my 30 days without filing it, but if I want the 30 day extension I'm fined 1600 baht if I didn't do it lol
