  1. Now hang on there .. that doesnt fit the narrative! Perhaps people will now start to read the previous reports. A 2013 UK Home Office report on child sexual exploitation concluded that most child sex offenders are white men, reflecting the general UK population demographics. A 2020 independent review led by Professor Alexis Jay (who investigated the Rotherham case) reiterated that group-based exploitation is not confined to any one ethnic group and that most child sexual abuse is committed by individuals, not gangs. However, in certain towns (e.g., Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford), Asian-heritage grooming gangs were overrepresented in high-profile cases. While they are there, could someone ask Richard Tice to ask the guy sitting next to him, why when he was in the Conservative Party at the time, he did nothing?
  2. I never tried those but I like Prime regular - they indeed also remind me of Tesco sausages too.
  3. Couldn’t agree more - but it’s a mess. Trying to enforce a new directive overnight and what purpose does it actually serve. If they were serious about road safety then they should enforce the law all the time, impound the bike and fine the rider. The laws is fine until someone drops the franchise holder a small bribe to continue on their way, what does that solve? Police shouldn’t be touching riders or passengers - they have a database of registration, call to the house in the evening and fine the owner of the bike. Everything is so dramatic with these idiots. Surprised no one got shot in the back tbh.
  4. Doesn’t have to be new to get mentioned here! If it’s good it’s welcome. If, in your opinion it’s not so .. that’s just as valuable. You just confirmed what I saw in the trailer. Any thoughts on “stick” - seems OK, maybe not hilarious, just feel-good tv.
  5. not really new - it ran from 2019 until 22. I never really bothered with it, looked a load of tosh to me.
  6. I must live in a good area - a couple of the guys in my are about 65-70, worked all their lives, have at least one property that they rent in their respective countries. It's all I hear about when we have a row - so and so doesn't have to worry ..
  7. I think the damage is done by whatever the mother, mamasan and the girls tell her, rather the number of clients. For example, I came across a guy who had to give his missus 1500B every time he had a jump, she wanted the cash to send home to her mum, she came from p2p and continued (1500 wasn’t enough, so she started on the free market too) I have had problems with my wife with other Thai people getting in her ear. Just stupid things, we changed our house number because it wasn’t lucky (ff..) we already had one house number, but when returning to the “farang” wife club with the news she was told that it was unlucky and she should pay 1000B to change it. “Dont tell your husband, he doesn’t have the money and will be angry” - yes, I don’t yet qualify for a fat pension like their husbands, but the cheek to say I would be angry, so she changed the number behind my back, and then told me the story of how she felt belittled by the group of ex-bg’s. We have been married for 20th ears, generally free from these situations, but there have been a couple of times like this over the past years since we moved back to Issan. Living in the south, she worked in a kindergarten, southern women tend not to see the bars as a quick way to make money, and her life was stable, being around normal working people. If people think you can take the bar out of a girl, then they must just be oblivious to the lies.
  8. Not actually that costly - I dont know how that compares to making your own - but AAC blocks go up a lot faster. Instead of a sand mortar. they use a type of glue cement which you use very little of, The price of cement has gone up considerably, the price of sand is also adds up, although it is 600B / cu m. To get the benefits of the AAC you should only use a light skim of render, thats a premix bagged. We used red bricks in our bathrooms, it isnt even necessary, you can use AAC, but Thais believe that red bricks dont absorb (so much) water, they are better for holding sinks, etc (idk) but they are good for building shelves and alcoves, etc, also removing for floating shelves. - the bathrooms took forever, we had two different crews, one guy was really good, but you could see the difference with the second bricklayer. Its general consensus amongst expat homebuilders, that when you take in to account the speed which AAC can be laid, the price of the glue vs sand mortar, then the ease of render - the difference if negligible these days. I wouldn't like to say either way.
  9. As a stand alone, Prowlarr has superseded jackett .. I think they all do the same thing tbh, but Prowlarr integrates with the rest of the *rr suite. For sure, there's enough to keep us busy, I just like that I dont have to think, its always there - in the future, we can use AI to keep an eye on this thread and just automatically add @Will27 suggestions to sonarr while we get on with doing other things. There is also another thing called recomendarr which uses a LLM to recommend content using your library and has trakt integration .. im quite excited by this kind of thing at present.
  10. Yes - jackett is also part of the suite, but it’s a bit past it now with prowlarr taking its place. I guess you could automate a few things with rss feeds with qbit, but sonarr just makes things so easy - my workflow is come to AN, add everyone’s recommendations to sonarr, enjoy my day, turn on the TV, and the shows are on my media player or will be after airing.
  11. Yes - Im another one for trakt, although it's a bit flakey, You are basically telling them you watch pirated content on your home media player, right? @Will27 The best thing I ever did was to set up *rr - sonarr, radarr, prowlarr - its an automated torrent / usenet downloader, you load your indexers (idk if its possible to use, but like RARBG, torrent galaxy) and it just goes out and snatches them for you. You can also search manually without going near those sites and their annoying popups. I think its not so difficult to setup on windows these days, its a bit tricky to run if you dont have a designated media server, like you need to keep some settings in check, else it will keep on downloading shows after you have deleted them, but well worth it. Is saves so much time, and makes everyones recommendations here really worthwhile.
  12. I don't remember anything about s01 - but s02 of The Gold - a (docu-)drama about the Brinks-mat robbery starts on Monday - I don't remember a lot about it, but must have been half decent if it came up on my watch list.
  13. I think Criminal Code S01 was well received here, A Brazilian police series You can find the first episode of the new series in the usual places.
  14. I quite like Friends & Neighbours on AppleTV, the missus is also watching it, which is surprising. Does anyone else find the Stereophonics theme tune for Long Way Home, really annoying? She's signing along with it all day too. It's drilling my brain. Hopefully they will call it a day after this. The wife asked me what Charlie Boreman did, was he an actor? He hasn't acted for 20 years, I didnt know what the answer was.
  15. That'll be because it was in Gaelic, maybe?
  16. Thanks, I just sent them an email to clarify - this is interesting. What is the negative of doing this? If I transfer my pension to a fund that welcomes expats then I can manage any future investments, does the current pension stagnate? I had a couple of good meetings with some advisors today, they were quite honest in saying that the best way to proceed, if possible, is to basically do this yourself - do as @BritManToo first suggested, but they said this is becoming increasingly difficult to manage if you are a long term expat without property in the UK - as mentioned above by @PBob now the fund know I'm not in the UK I would need to jump through hoops to prove some kind of residency - the transfer cost would be comparable to a return flight to the UK, and time spent doing the legwork - I would also benefit from having a financial advisor to lay down the foundations for any future developments, for instance, inhertance. But thanks for the tip, It will be interesting to hear the reply.
  17. Yes, correct - sorry about that - Im just saying, I wouldn't recommend either officemate or Lazada, they are all the worst Chinese made chairs with different labels and price tags, they look the part, but really aren't. Good luck with your search.
  18. Many of the chairs in officemate can be purchased on Lazada and they are all POS. I don't do so much work now, but before and during Covid, I was spending 12-16 hours at my desk. The work was such that I couldn’t move for the duration apart from 5 mins toilet breaks. I thought spending 3k down at officemate was the key but the padding went, the fake leather split, bars running in the seat appeared. It was painful to do my shift, some days I was close to tears, constantly moving to find comfort. I bought some similar chairs from Lazada, but they were equally as bad, basically the same as chairs as officemate but cheaper. In the end I bought an ikea Markus - still going strong, I really like it, a little beyond your budget, but way better than anything else I tried.
  19. Just to say, thanks for your input. When I contacted them at first, I told them I had been abroad for 30+ years and hadn't kept in contact - not thinking it would be an issue. Now its impossible to turn back the clock, I should have changed the policy in 1998, I should have updated the address to my parents new address, 25 years ago. Basically, two options, take the whole lot and pay 40% tax or move the pension to a company who deals with overseas customers. I have a few meetings lined up with companies in the UK, it could be in my interest to make some plans now, rather than at a later date.
  20. Yes, it's possible - I don't think there is a charge for moving funds.
  21. I spoke to pensionwise regarding QROPS and unless I had a large amount it wasn't worth it and HMRC rules were quite strict regarding transfer. I messaged a couple of financial service providers and they scheduled calls for tomorrow. I hope I can transfer the 25% from my original fund without any trouble, I do have a wise account, I just saw that I have a regular bank address and account number.
  22. I don't believe that is the only viable option, there seems to be plenty of other options, for example, using a financial advisor will limiting the tax payable, as mentioned above, opening offshore accounts may help with dealing with TRD and HMRC, along with international SIPPS may suit my purpose.
  23. Nice idea. I dont even think it's possible, when was the last time you opened a UK bank account? I hear that if you are lucky you can plead and maybe they will open a building society account for you. Again, I would rather pay someone to do it for me and save the flight.
  24. Why is this? I spoke with pensionwise, some government advisors and they said it was difficult to arrange this, they suggested something else. That suggestion was from my existing pension fund, they say they cant advise, they just told me the facts.
