Yet Again – Shopper’s Slipper Gets Stuck In Store Escalator
recom273 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I once saw a documentary, it was following an incident in the west when a kid got a foot and rubber boot dragged into the escalator. It explained how it happened, it was actually not easy to replicate. Maybe an elevator engineer can explain, The bottom line was, there is a yellow line on the side, keep your feet away from that area, when your kids are using the escalator - control your kids, it’s not a play ground. The owner of that slipper must have not understood he needed to lift his foot to step off the machine. Pure hype. -
I used a place in Bangkok. Just send the .stl files and they return the items. https://www.maliev.com I did some home automation projects, and realised I had spent the price of half a printer. So I bought my own. If it’s small, maybe someone here can help? The materials, hobbiest time, etc are cheap, but commercial printing isn’t.

Agreed, I think the best lunchtime chicken is in HY Nai, late afternoon - Tiger Temple Market. In the evening I was surprised how busy that stall under the railway flyover / not far from the stadium. Having spent over a decade in HY now living in Issan, not all fried chicken is equal. If you live in HY, you have your favorite places, you know which places are open at different times of day, some places are just too popular and the competition to grab the chicken as it comes from the wok is brutal. The chickens in the south have just about the right fat content, there are a couple of stalls up here proclaiming to be "Hat Yai Chicken" they cannot replicate the texture of the chicken or get the garlic / pepper ratio right or the coating. There are a couple of places in BKK that manage it. Just as "Gai Yang Khao Suan Kwan" cannot be replicated in the south, the free range chicken comes from a number of farms in the area, its has little fat content, the skin turns super crispy, chicken isn't just chicken. So, No. its not.

Pita ready to step aside if his party fails to win senators’ hearts

Totally agree, but maybe the road to democracy may be a bit longer in Thailands case - I think I recall reading somewhere that it may need a two or three step strategy. One of those steps was for Prawit. It can only be a good thing if that step was skipped. -
As I understand it, 6E is not only related to speed. It does have lower latency, idk, maybe benefiting gamers (but then who would be gaming on a wifi connection). 6E offers a better channel choice in areas of high congestion, 6GHz has a greater range, it also uses WPA3 security. If you are in a high traffic area, with lots of different networks, with a greater chance of someone trying to hack into your network, then I think, if available a $199 router is pretty good value and a worthwhile upgrade. Just out of interest, what phone uses 6E?

Police Prepare For Nationwide Protests, Parliament Heavily Guarded

Did you watch the news yesterday? The debate was primarily about Article 112. -
Take a look at the Russian Facebook equivalent .. https://vk.com - It's just a social media platform, so I presume safe to post. Within the site there are of groups for ESL / English learners where material is shared - the IP laws in Russia are pretty slack, so stuff is generally uploaded without fear of prosecution or take-downs. You can search with keywords like "books" or "English books" "ESL" etc and find the right groups. Also, don't use your google credentials to log in to unfamiliar sites, unless you are really sure - I heard of a couple of phishing tools (ahem) that use fake google login - take a look at evil twin attacks like this https://github.com/kleo/evilportals (this is for a free wifi login) but there are similar for web site logins.

They certainly have a great selection of ugly black boxes with an excessive number of aerials - invade say it’s 60GHz but all the 6E routers I saw have E in the product code - netgear seem to be XE. https://www.howtogeek.com/797523/best-wi-fi-6e-router/ I don’t doubt you, but take a look. 20 000THB is a lot of router, I wonder what actual benefits a 6E will bring, I’m happy with my unifi wifi6 APs and a decent router.

Wondershare used to have some shady practices - HB is fine. If you have a Mac, then FCP is pretty straightforward after watching enough video tutorials, but like adobe premiere, it's can be a pro-tool. (if you have a Mac) iMovie is already installed on your Mac and even easier, just edit your video and then clicking share will give you an option on quality / compressor / resolution. Easy.
-
I use handbrake on a daily basis, but I dont use it to compress home video. It's the standard open source, free app - nothing to fault it. There is no need to look at any paid app, some of the "free" ones are a bit suspect tbh. What are you using to edit your video? Your editing suite will usually do the legwork for you. I use finalcut pro occasionally, and that's pretty intuitive, it gives approx file sizes and time to render when you export, no need to compress further with HB.

Can you buy a 6E router in Thailand? It took quite a while to get Wifi6 routers, now 6E.
-
I think that's OK, I only heard of an original Honda keyless prices, which I think are a lot more - Are aftermarket keys reliable?

Ahh yes, I now notice the .. still need help? contact us option. I followed the faq and it didn't suggest calling, it said send a report and we will contact you in 24 hours. I was trying to recall because I called and spoke to someone about a taxi booking in the past. I thought they may have cancelled the helpline. The easier option would have been to keep the phone line open for a period of time after delivery. I could have voice called the guy uptown the the time he dropped off - I messaged him to tell him where he was. GRAB replied in a follow up that they encourage their drivers to send a message when they dont deliver to the hands of the customer, but the guy just dumped and ran. Really annoying, when I have had deliveries outside the home, the riders have been really good and messaged me - to walk around a big Toyota dealership asking for my McDonalds pissed me off, when I got it, I didnt want to eat the cold muffin. First world problems.
-
One problem I found .. you can’t contact the driver after he has dropped off your food. I was sitting at Toyota getting my car serviced, waiting for mcD breakfast, watching the little map. Then I saw it had been delivered .. to where? No way of contacting him. He ignored my request of a call on arrival, took the food to the post room where it sat for 30 mins as every employee denied even knowing what McDonalds was. No way to contact grab apart from an email two days later. Will try food panda next time I’m in this situation.

When living in Thailand what VPN are you using?
recom273 replied to advancebooking's topic in IT and Computers
If you are after a non-EU or US based provider, then I assume your after a more secure service. Maybe take a look at https://mullvad.net/en its one of the most trusted, in terms of security. They are based in Sweden, I'm not sure if that fits your non-EU requirement. -
Yeah, in some respects I’m lucky - in a sad way. Mum left when she was 3 years old, Dad, who raised died a few years before I met her. So she doesn’t have any responsibilities to the family. I don’t think I could function as the family bank. Her mum calls round the whole family asking for 100B for food, most of the time wife doesn’t pick up the phone and mum sends a message saying that she will never speak to her again .. the wife types back “fine by me” and we get. 3 months of peace. ????

Actually the original comment made me chuckle, I had an experience like this the first time of going back to the village. They rented a truck and driver from a cousin at some extortionate rate and we pushed the trolley around Big C and they bought so much stuff that they would never usually buy, they made a massive feast and what seemed like half the village appeared from no where and ate it all over the next 24 hours. I was well and truly rinsed. I actually took 20K out of the bank, and told the gf that I left the ATM at home. I saw it as an initiation ceremony, it ended by the gf telling her family to GTF, and 15+ years later we are still together, happily married (for the most part). I would say it's a necessary experiment, just keep your head on swivel and your eyes wide open. Write off the money spent over the weekend and use the time to see wether or not you are being played and if you can become part of the family unit. I found I couldn't which is why we live 50km away from them and the MIL knows the answer when she calls to catch 100B to buy rice.

I understand what you mean about trying a keyboard, they have physical stockists https://keychronthailand.com/pages/where-to-buy I bought mine in a pre order and was quite a bit cheaper. I was always under the impression that the colour keys used on all these mechanical keyboards were made by the same manufacturers. Not too sure about the hot swap feature, seems a bit of a gimmick. People pay a lot more for mechanical keyboards, these seem reasonably priced - I had a couple of Logitech keyboards like a k380, that would always stop working with dust and crumbs under the keys, I took a gamble on this company. The mechanical is a little high and took a little getting used to, but after that - it’s solid.
-
I have a keychron mechanical keyboard, I really like it. I can connect it to up to 3 devices. They do a 10 key version. https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k10-wireless-mechanical-keyboard If you can’t wait so long, it might be an alternative.

I don't like to get into these discussions, however, just to stand with you. The difference between 128 / 320 CBR / FLAC is very noticable. I never even used 128 back in the day, I would rather have had less albums than use low bitrate. It sounded like a cat inside tin can. I now stream FLAC from a Navidrome server (no transcoding) to my truck, sometimes the power goes at home and I'm forced to listen to 320 CBR stored on my phone, the difference is clear even on my standard, but pretty decent Toyota factory head unit.

Do I have to pay the Pu Yai Baan to come to the Amphur with me?
recom273 replied to stubuzz's topic in General Topics
Not too sure of your angle .. I bought land for my wife to build a house in the headman's village. The guy has always got his hand out collecting for some thing or another - a stage for a concert or some Loy kratong event, all involve large speakers that vibrate the windows until 2.00 am. I pay for the water I take from the village water supply, even tho I had to buy my own pipes, I pay my subs for the garbage collection. Not too sure why I would pay him for anything else, the guy is paid by the government. -

He's a paid public servant. The headman is always on the take and on the make. You decide wether or not he deserves a drink or not, wether you want to buy into the corrupt system. Will you need his assistance in the future? -
I had read reports on another app that you had to go to the center and watch the video, so I was glad to read your post. This is one of the most revolutionary things introduced by the DLT over covid - along with the online queuing system. I hope they never return to the old method of making us waste a few of hours sitting in a room while locals play on their phone. I renewed mine the other month, not in Phuket, but I was out within 30 mins, great!

Yes, download the iTunes Store on your apple device and you can select and purchase, you can then stream to your tv - you can install Apple TV app on your android tv or whatever, you don’t necessarily need an Apple TV box connected to your TV.
