  1. So the labels on the drive clearly say 2tb and you're trying to squeeze more out of them?
  2. Welton is also accused of making threats in late 2022 against U.S. Marines and others working at the U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai, Thailand. https://www.wral.com/story/fbi-american-living-in-thailand-threatened-to-shoot-dismember-staff-of-nc-senators/20886664/ --- so it looks like he was living around chaing mai somewhere
  3. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/30/politics/us-expatriate-arrested-allegedly-threatening-us-senators/index.html An American living abroad was arrested last week on a charge of threatening US senators and political groups over the number of unsolicited political emails he was receiving, the Justice Department announced Tuesday. Eric Charles Welton, who has lived in Thailand for more than a decade, allegedly made multiple threatening calls from overseas in 2021 to the offices of North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis and then-Sen. Richard Burr, according to court documents. Welton, 51, was arrested Thursday at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as he returned to the United States from overseas, according to the Justice Department.
  4. Find someone with a linux box to do it for you. If you were in Pattaya I might volunteer.
  5. The Turkish economy is not doing so well due to inflation and this will definitely not help as Erdogan's approach is to lower interest rates which will only make it worse. Two or three years from now it will be a disaster.
  6. I'm so glad I changed banks from Bangkok to K-bank. My last wise transfer was in my K-bank and withdrawable within a couple of minutes.
  7. And Trump, at 78 in a couple of weeks would be such a better choice. Morbidly obese, never gets exercise, eats junk food. And no, golf is not exercise, riding around in a cart with a caddy carrying your clubs. Comparing the likely expiry dates of Biden and Trump, Biden will be around much longer.
  8. Pretty much anywhere. Phuket is a sh*th*le.
  9. Little to no benefit. In the Thai climate, much better to put in an uninsulated radiant heat barrier. I did this in a place in the Philippines and it was actually cool in the attic and the top floor was significantly cooler than before installation. This is now the standard construction technique in the hot southern US states.
  10. So when do you think De Santos will start banning books with climate change caused by humans, and evolution as a fact?
  11. I don't think a few million would be able to cover that. You and Elon. I'm sure I know what the two of you would be doing...
  12. Lets hypothesize a little bit. Say you're retired, around 70 years old. Say you came into a sizable amount of money, maybe a few million US dollars. Would you still reside in Thailand or would you move elsewhere? If you'd move elsewhere, where and why that country/location?
  13. Intelligent voters will know it's the right wing republican lunatics that caused the default. That obviously rules out most republican voters.
  14. Are you talking about the Catholic Church?
  15. You expected it to be different than the previous 3 iterations? That's like watching Fast X and saying you didn't like it because of all the fast cars.
  16. Until he loses it all when crypto crashes. Remember https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Bankman-Fried
  17. Remember “The Tortoise and the Hare“? Investing is like that. The Hare, of course, will be gambling investing in things like crypto, NFTs, or even individual stocks. The Tortoise will have his investments in things like index mutual funds or ETFs. I'm proud to have been a Tortoise since I began investing in the mid-80s. Averaging over 10% a year for almost 40 years, while spending only an hour or two every year dealing with my investments. You do the math. I even stopped contributing when I retired in 2000. Sure there have been some down years, but in the long run those have been more than covered by the market rebounds in the subsequent years. Definitely can't say that with the Hare's investments.
  18. When I first started coming to Thailand around 2000 or 2001 it was wonderful. All the women were slim. None of them had fake breasts. It sure has gone downhill.
  19. You have bought into the propaganda haven't you. Hunter's laptop is right up there with all the other republican nonsense they spout when an election is upcoming. Remember: Benghazi: nothing burger Clinton's emails: nothing burger Fast and furious: nothing burger Twitter papers: nothing burger I'm sure I missed a bunch. What about the other way? Iran-Contra: guilty Nixon: resigned in disgrace Clinton impeachment: reelected in landslide The H. Biden saga will be the same. Just drink the kool-aid. I tire of the nonsense
  20. The branch I had been doing counter withdrawals at for years stopped when their electronics were “upgraded“ to a new system that couldn't accept debit cards. No amount of pushing could get it to work. I moved all my accounts to k-bank and now use wise to transfer money to those accounts. Basically costs the same as the counter withdrawal. And it takes only a few seconds for the money to appear.
  21. Prisons are big business in many locales. Just another way for the republicans to suck money out of the system.
  22. BKK bank stopped doing that months ago.
