  1. Pralarn pier closed due to rough seas.
  2. As far as I can recall, the French embassy were the only ones with the J & J vaccine. From Bloomberg :- also here https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/embassy-of-france-in-thailand-starts-vaccine-campaign-for-french-nationals-ages-55
  3. If you have two packs of cards, that is deemed to indicate a casino. Bit of a shame if you want to play canasta.
  4. And for those airlines flying to Samui where there were no competitive PG flights? Market forces perhaps? Firefly used to fly Penang Samui and only stopped because there was not a large demand.
  5. There are no other airlines that fly domestically. The other airlines were all International. (Tibet Airlines, Silk Air, China Airlines, Malaysia Airlines etc.) The low cost carriers cannot cope with the landing/handling fees at their usual prices. The fees are higher because the tax payer is not subsidising the airport. The airport is wholly funded by Bangkok Airways.
  6. Any airline can fly into Samui. Before Covid, there were up to 7 different airlines flying in. Cambodia Air was flying into Samui last year. Now, if the airlines choose not to fly here......... At the moment there is a shortage of planes and crews thanks to Covid but there is no barrier as you allude to.
  7. Good luck on getting the Jungle Safari convoys to do that.
  8. But there is only a low risk from Chinese tourists according to an earlier post here....... ????
  9. A Thai driving licence works just as well (except in banks ????)
  10. I use Bandon Hospital for my WP medical certificate and it is just turn up. Never had to wait long. From what I can remember, Thai Inter was the same. Just a longer wait.
  11. We manage a number of AirBnb properties and we always enter details on the TM 30 online reporting system. When guests want to go to immigration for extensions or whatever, we give them a copy of the TM 30 report. It has always been accepted. However, as always, things like this depend on the immigration officer on the day.
  12. The 'wobblies' have been here for about six weeks already. Also the 'stop in the middle of the road to check Google maps' brigade.
  13. Good old Facebook . Supporting crime all over the world. ☹️ As long as the ad money keeps pouring in, they really do not care.
  14. For over 20 years I have had to show passport (or photocopy that they can copy) at my branch. DL or pink id card not accepted.

  16. During Covid, immigration suspended the need for TM 30 reporting when returning to your 'home' address. ie the property where you are registered. This was an attempt to reduce queues at immigration offices. As far as I know, this is still in place. However, with on-line reporting, it is simple and quick to update the immigration files. I still update mine when I return home. It just takes a few minutes.
  17. The only thing to watch with a second hand iPhone is that Apple build in redundancy. Then you are also stuck with only being able to interface with other Apple products. It is all down to want you want to do.
  18. I usually walk into the local shop and ask to see the cheapest model Samsung phone. Range 4,000 to 5,000 baht. Always managed to find one It is a mobile phone outlet in the local Big C.
  19. It is obviously horses for courses. I tried Swansons stinging nettle root for three months and it did not help me.
  20. Major electrical outage in the Plai Laem area last night. From 19.30 until after midnight. It was still out when I went to bed at 01.00ish. PEA said that there were quite a few areas without power. Also, water shortages in quite a few areas. Government water especially, but we are even seeing problems with trucked in water and direct well water supplies. The island seems to be very full and demand is outstripping supply??? Happy New Year one and all and have a great 2023.
  21. Cannot take it on a flight?
  22. Is that what they call a win 'win'?
  23. As long as it has the house details (blacked out?) then yes. They reference the database direct.
  24. Hmm. Tax breaks for the people in Thailand. I guess that there must be an election around the corner.
  25. Very reliable. During Covid we had lots of guests from Bangkok down here working from home. Some are still here. Work from home - which would you choose? 1 a small apartment in Bangkok and you cannot use the communal pool or eat out during lock-down 2 Pool villa with sea views and places open Fast reliable internet was a must for streaming and zoom calls etc.
