  1. Thais do it all of the time. A good friend of mine found out that her daughter's virginity (13 years old) was being offered for sale by the grandmother. Then there are the 'agents' of banks offering to pay off bank loans by 'buying' a daughter.
  2. That is why some 'Thai' craft beer breweries are just over the border in Laos.
  3. Why only for the last quarter? As for the heading 'taking steps on walking street'
  4. I disagree. The scammers are banking on the Thai's ingrained fear of authority. Brainwashed at school and over all of the years. They do not have our world wide experience. This is why I think that forcing older folk to use phones and apps is a bad thing. Thais are the most scammed people in SE Asia. Rarely youngsters. Usually older Thais. Most scammers seem to be pretending to be government officials, police, military etc.
  5. And the charges against the Thais who employed them illegally are......
  6. Typical deflection by the powers that be. If they cannot take the (rightful) criticism, they roll out Section 112 in defence.
  7. 100 baht in 1993. The story does not ring true. First, the policeman was no 'allegedly bribing the YouTuber', he was requesting a bribe. OK - bad English maybe. Why is the event being published now? YouTuber run out of original stuff? I do not think that any road traffic policeman will remember one particular bribe received approx 7 years ago. As far as I know, they do not keep records of bribes. The whole thing is a 'wait until it dies down'.
  8. Well said. Do not give in to the corrupt PM.
  9. Ignore indyo. There are a lot of lovely ladies around, but very few hang around in bars. There are some but difficult to spot. If you are working, the girls in the workplace will be fine as long as you are polite and respectful. If you are a retired beach bum - more difficult. Talk to local people, away from bars and tourist places. I have been close to a few Thai ladies since my wife died but I am not ready to commit. (Too old anyway.)
  10. Nite Hunter IPA (6.8%) Thai beer. Orion The Dark (Okinawa). M32 IPA Thai beer Carabao Dunkel Tawandang IPA All in Tops And a few more. Fed up after 24 years of lager.
  11. What with the Russian drowning on Sunday In related news, a Russian man drowned on Sunday, June 16 after swimming in the sea at Surin Beach in Phuket and a few close encounters yesterday, people in Phuket need to take care. https://aseannow.com/topic/1330227-tourists’-phuket-beach-fun-turns-into-life-or-death-drama/
  12. And the people who need it will be unable to get it as it is only available on a smartphone using an app. Scammers are waiting. And if anyone really believes that every Thai has a smartphone, look again.
  13. Well said sir. Unfortunately dinosaurs are deaf.
  14. So the contractor will have to 'cut corners' in order to finish quickly and not loose too much money. Expect more repair works in the future folks. That's not going to help the pipe dream in the previous article Pattaya to become Southeast Asia’s premier destination
  15. Unbelievable that anyone actually makes that statement.
  16. More possible Soi dogs if the police are not careful in choosing owners Many people these days fall in love with a cute, adorable puppy. Then when the appetite grows and more food is needed. Vets bills. Exercise etc etc Then we have an abandoned dog.
  17. That would have taken a while to build and there would have been heavy construction traffic. Yet the park rangers saw nothing?
  18. Gorgeous beasts. Note to self - do not go to a NP on the motorbike!
  19. Unless the fat-butted government get off those butts and actually do something for the poorer people, folk like this have no options. It's burn or starve for many. Lots of money available for major projects that only big business want, but nothing in support of people like this. Just telling them to stop burning isn't going to fix the problem. NB to the esteemed leaders of this wonderful country - a one-off, 10,000 baht payment that is only available on a smart phone is not going to help them.
  20. Seems crazy to me. Just another major project spend that will become a white elephant. Suratthani International airport is just down the road and they have less than 10 flights a day at the moment. All domestic. Never mind that the economy is tanking. Never mind that many Thais are struggling. Let's spend money on major projects for our friends that buy us our positions. At one flight per day, it should be closed down and save money. F 1 track perhaps?
  21. As mum used to say 'You have to earn the money before you can spend it'.
  22. Goodbye sir. An interesting and very 'varied' life lived to the full. May your final journey be a peaceful one.
  23. I went to BNH. Soi Convent? Bangkok. It was 70,000 baht self insured. They have an offer on at the moment. It was supposed to finish 30/04 but you can still book it. https://mbrace.bnhhospital.com/en/product/colon_cancer_screening/
