  1. It is normal everywhere to drive on the wrong side of the road when overtaking another vehicle.
  2. At least the dogs were saved (I am not a cat lover.)
  3. And Thailand is supporting this illegal military regime that has invaded it's waters, stolen boats and kidnapped its own people. Shame on you Thailand.
  4. That option is still available - especially on the internet. But the price has gone up a tad. I am a widower and I cannot be Rsed to train a new wife. Always nice to have a bit of company when on holiday.
  5. In the other reports and on CCTV, the woman appears to arrive on her own. The BP states that the guy jumped in to try and save her. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2911772/two-tourists-drown-in-samui
  6. Surely no different to today's human walking through a jungle, and monkey walking on the same path hours later?
  7. Yes, ironic isn't it. There are very few human rights in Thailand. The UN might have responded more strongly had the refugees been Muslim.
  8. Loved the above comment. Did you ever try Choengmon Beach? It was not very well known back at the turn of the century and back then, they did not allow tables on the beach. The tables only happened some time in the mid 2000's. There was only had a single track road to Chaweng back then. Great beach but again, no sunsets. Still nice and quiet. Wifey said to me 'I don't care where I live but I want a pool and sunsets'. Sunset from my place.
  9. So the truck only crashed in one vehicle, which in turn crashed into the next one, which in turn............. Resulting in 27 damaged vehicles. Pretty impressive though.
  10. The monsoon season can be dangerous at this time of year there on Samui's east coast.
  11. It did not 'record the accident'. The phone was recording him and stopped working as it hit the road. This is the recording. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/british-tourist-left-nothing-terrifying-230000641.html
  12. Glad to see that my favourite beach does not get a mention. It will stay nice and quiet for a bit longer. I do not think that the pier is there any more. Then again, I rarely go to Fisherman's Village.
  13. He was riding two handed. The phone was attached to the bike - pointed at him. But that does not mean that he was looking at the road - or the phone. We will never know.
  14. This according to Khaosodenglish อ่านข่าวต้นฉบับได้ที่ : https://www.khaosodenglish.com/featured/2024/11/27/french-womans-thai-maid-loses-inheritance-in-koh-samui-nominee-probe/
  15. I am surprised that there aren't more accidents with delivery bikes and Grab bikes. The riders are always looking at their phones whilst looking for their destination.
  16. Cathay's recover is taking longer than expected. China has lots of planes and quite a few airlines. Cathay is Hong Kong. It has history. China will not be unhappy if Cathay fails.
  17. And that says it all. Another coup on the way.
  18. The air is fine down here on Samui.
  19. Silly me. And I thought that it stood for British Broadcasting Company. Maybe it is going woke and should re-brand? PBC or MBC?
  20. From the BP reported previously and again today - they are going to investigate less than 27,000 possible nominee juristic persons in this crackdown. And that is across all five sectors. There will be more nominees than that owning villas, just in Phuket. They are not after every Tom, Dick or Harry who has bought a pizzy little villa in Nakhon Sri Nowhere. I am not an expert but I do read and comprehend.
  21. The grandmother didn't. They both fell in the water together.
