Strong Thai Public Support For Cannabis Reclassification
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Recreational cannabis is a problem. Having to deal with stoned guests is a real PITA. It is bad enough having to check them out of the villas, but then when I see them getting on a scooter or into a car and driving off - that is a real danger to innocent people. And before we get the distractors, in more than 20 years in the hospitality business, I have never had a problem with a drunk guest.- 53 replies

Digital Wallet Scheme Delayed Over Detail Shortage
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
. The voting population figured it out perfectly. (They get paid even in local elections, except there it is cash in hand.) They are just waiting to get the money. If they do not get the 10,000 baht, then the next election will be interesting. -
Police Commission Votes to Remove 'Big Joke' from Service
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
BJ was also suspended by the Junta and removed as head of Immigration. (He wanted an investigation into the bidding for the biometric systems that were eventually installed. Said that there was corruption in the bidding process.) Immigration has gone downhill since then. -

Study Shows Young People Have Misconceptions About E-Cigarettes

Not just young people from what I see and read. Both smoking and vaping are bad for you and may eventually kill you. Fine - believe the social media 'experts' and ignore the science. -

Is it still worth going to Phuket Old Town?
Tropicalevo replied to RolandRat's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I quite enjoy wandering around the Old Town. Quite a few craft beer places there now. Lots of attractive sights usually - all different nationalities. I do not spend a whole day there - early pm and evening. -

Thanks for the update. 2,500 is not too bad for a deep clean - we charge 3,000 baht. But we only charge 2,000 baht on a long term rental check out. (It is in the contract.) The LT charge is slightly lower as we expect 'wear and tear' to make a difference. As an aside, in more then 20 years in the business, I have only held back a deposit once. The guest stole linen, towels, kitchen items and there was damage by a pet dog. He did a runner and did not give notice.

Sorry - I have noticed nothing here at the pointy end. All normal and lovely wet stuff at last.

You are supposed to do a TM 30 when you change address. Go and stay in a hotel and the hotel does a TM 30 for you. Go and stay in an AirBnb and the AirBnb 'owner' should do a TM 30 for you. You are now registered at the hotel or AirBnb address. Return home and you should do a TM 30 report again. Many folk say that you do not need to do the home one again but...... ...........many folk are finding that some immigration offices say that you do.
