  1. There is no SuperRich that I know of on the island and I will be in transit, not airside in Bangkok. So yes, I have to ask.
  2. Not all elephant sanctuaries are tourist traps and many treat the jumbos very well. A lot of sanctuaries do not even allow the tourists near the elephants. They observe them from a distance, a bit like being in the wild? This information comes from personal experience - not Tik Tok or PETA.
  3. Morning all I have a couple of short trips planned in the near future and both are to countries where the USD is preferred. Is there anywhere on the island offering a good exchange rate for buying USD? I am not looking for a huge amount - 1,000 USD will be more than enough. Ideas welcomed thank you.
  4. Abandoned or forgotten? Years ago, some friends of mine took their new born baby to the local pub where we all met for a drink. It was a car ride from their home. They went home and forgot about the baby - left it in the pub. It was their first trip out after the birth. They only realised when they were about to go to bed! 😱
  5. He did not need the rescue team. I have read another article on this story and he is a regular wild water swimmer. It was the interfering, namby-pamby, moaning locals that called out the rescue team. They couldn't stand to see someone enjoying themselves. He was not in any trouble. Yes, one day he may be in trouble but that is only a maybe.
  6. Why select only motorcyclists for these measures. The same should be applied to all rental vehicles surely. Fast driving cars are much more dangerous. There are also a lot of Thais without valid driving licences or insurance.
  7. There are not enough courts or gaols if you want to stop people from doing stupid things. I do not disagree with your comments about the dangers, but people need to learn how to cope with life, not want a nanny state to wrap them in cotton wool.
  8. Sorry guys but the above are not allowed in Thailand. Very sad though.
  9. Sorry, but no sympathy from me. I hate cats. They are ignorant, unreliable, disobedient, never love you, selfish and cost money to run. A lot like my first wife.
  10. For sure tested thru time. Cash has been around for centuries.
  11. Except visitors, tourists and older folk. But the scam centres in Cambodia love those that pay with phones. No 1 target.
  12. Ah yes. Bitcoin. Invented by criminals - for criminals.
  13. The thought of Anutin as PM is a frightening thought for the future of Thailand. The only thing that Anutin is good at is under-achieving.
  14. The video above was also on the BBC web site. Apparently, the elephant bringing up the rear is blind which is why it is delayed. I think that is is great the way that the other elephants seem to wait for the blind one to catch up.
  15. What is the point of the famous Thai photo op if everyone's face is blurred out?
  16. I saw some in BigC a while back. They were in the section selling 'touristy tat'. It used to be just on the right as you walked in. God knows where it is now. The place is a mess. Black coloured bottle holders with 'Thailand' and an image of a tuk-tuk on them
  17. Sorry Governor but you can certainly dream the dream. There will never be enough money in the pot for you to be able to deliver that dream. Money in Thailand's budgets has a strange way of evaporating.
  18. And we are all sitting here reading the bloomin article.
  19. I have always felt that there is comparatively very little road rage here in Thailand compared to the rest of the world where I have travelled or lived. Accidents, yes lots, but very little road rage.
  20. Simple. Trump supporters will storm the White House. Trump will state that the democratic votes were fake. Ergo he is automatically the winner.
  21. And shame on all business owners who will break the law in the name of greed.
  22. Probably the same garage that modified them illegally in the first place.
  23. Another 'money drain'. I believe that it will never happen. F1 tracks have quite strict safety and rules and regulations. Something that is rarely adhered to here in the land of smiles.
  24. Whist this tragedy is devastating, far more people die in accidents from modified trucks, cars or motorbikes. No one is 'suspending' them. No one is inspecting the batteries in e-vehicles and bikes where they spontaneously catch fire. This particular accident has caught the press's attention and therefore also the public. We are all horrified about what has happened. But deep down, we all know that it will happen again, sometime in the future, regardless of what is done now. THAT is also a tragedy.
  25. Totally agree. Just so that they 'look good'. Who is inspecting the 10s of thousands of buses to deem them road worthy? How long will they be off the road? (Until the who-ha dies down.)
