  1. According to a couple of reports (and photos by bystansders), he did try and extinguish the flames and also tried to open the doors. They would not open. That was when he panicked and ran.
  2. Ah, the age old problem. Who will inspect the inspectors?
  3. Good job that you are not on Samui. Transformer explosions are a regular occurrence.
  4. Cash every time except hotels and flights.
  5. Please show some respect. The article is about someone loosing their life. Not work permits.
  6. Rubbish. It has finally stopped raining and floodwaters are receding everywhere. People can go out and shop at last.
  7. Therein lies the problem with the politicians in Thailand. No matter what the PM does or says, the dinosaurs in opposition will veto it, call in ethics committees and whatever to make sure that nothing happens until the PM is ousted.
  8. More wasted money on 'consultancy'. Soon there will be projects to keep spending on.
  9. Better still, maybe stop sending the kids to school? They may get hurt on the way there.
  10. Anutin's mouth is moving - ergo he is lying.
  11. Never mind the PM crying, when I saw the photo of these girls, my vision went blurry and I could not swallow. God - a nightmare for everyone involved. RIP and I hope that you all find peace.
  12. So the dinosaur's anti-Thaksin rhetoric has created a news story because one 'nobody' has changed her mind? PR working overtime here.
  13. There are two Bangkok airports?
  14. That is not a theory as admitted to me by a construction company manager. Also, building on sand is cheaper. When they tarmacked the roads (instead of plain concrete) the roads started to collapse within six months. Those pot 'canyons' are still there some 10 years later. A far as I know, only one road here on Samui was built on hardcore that was packed down. All of the rest are built sans hardcore. Just compacted earth.
  15. And I thought that it was honesty and integrity. Not being a greedy, little selfish git monetising stolen goods. As for the joke about him being a journalist - not in a million years. He never wrote anything. Just published the said stolen goods. The little tight rrrs even made his lawyer pregnant and married her to save on fees. One of the good guys??? 🤮 🤮 🤮
  16. What progress? Rangers are being murdered and maimed on a regular basis. Very few insurgents have been arrested. Window dressing for the poster boy? God forbid that he should become PM one day.
  17. The whole thing is just very sad. Those poor mites. Making the bus driver the sacrificial lamb will not add anything. It is just a distraction to pretend that something is being done.
  18. So he has been accepting a salary under false premises. Gaol him.
  19. I regularly forget my phone, and a good friend living nearby NEVER takes his phone when he goes out. I hope that the lass is found safe and well soon.
  20. Not a nice thought. One initial report said that the responders had found 10 bodies in the bus! There were 19 in the rear of the bus. The rest must have just been incinerated.
  21. When you have learnt to drive in a manual car, changing gear often is never an issue. It is happens without thinking. I learnt to drive a manual car more than 50 years ago. All of my cars have been manual ones but I have also driven hundreds or rental/company automatic cars. Floods and steep hills, manual is much better. (Very hilly where I live.) It is called clutch control. Not an option in automatic cars. Overtaking? Dropping a gear is quicker in a manual (and you can choose the gear)
  22. I haven't bought a new car for a while, but when I did, manual was not advertised as an option. However, on talking to the sales rep, I could and did order a manual version. Delivery took a while. It was a Mitsubishi. Great car.
  23. I have no issue with the taxes or the no alcohol hours. I can buy what I want 24/7. However, smaller breweries should be allowed so that we can drink decent beer rather than the Singha, Leo etc sweet stuff that have been the only ones available for years and running a monopoly. (Big C are pulling the more independent beers off their shelves already!)
