  1. Let us hope that Hezbollah do not take anyone hostage.
  2. That is a horrific fire. Amazing that some kids managed to get out unharmed.
  3. And to Big Joe and all others calling for a cease fire - you are talking to Hamas and Hezbollah. They are both murdering, cowardly terrorists who, in spite of previous ceasefires, still sent rockets into Israel to kill innocent civilians. To the terrorists, a cease fire means that the others stop fighting, whilst they carry on building tunnels and re-arming. Terrorists never stop killing.
  4. Very biased committee. 56 Muslim members and one Jewish one. I wonder why the votes are always anti Israel?
  5. It's been sunny pretty much all year here on Koh Samui, especially where I live. We could do with a bit of rain though.
  6. Looking at the video, that was one hell of a wipe out. Very sad.
  7. Not really an equal comparison. The foreigner knew better but did the act through anger, hate and violence. The two underage girls should have known better, but at that age??? Probably thought that it was the norm after watching what adult Thais do to each other on news reports. However, I do agree with you that neither examples are acceptable.
  8. hmm. Factories closing and still the government are pushing for the minimum wage to be increased. Defies logic really. (When did shuttering become a word for shutting?)
  9. Careful what you say - he is aiming to be the next PM. We all know what he thinks about us foreigners. This is a typical knee-jerk by a politician. No pro-active thinking. He could have started the investigation earlier.
  10. Because it stops progress. The dinosaurs are terrified of change. Progress and change might mean their extinction.
  11. Thais yes, foreigners no. I do it all of the time here. Foreigners should know better. Rental bikes usually provide helmets. Their own bike, then they can afford one.
  12. Exactly. Just go anywhere and be someone else's problem is the mantra.
  13. So, a perfect time to increase the minimum wage - not.
  14. What foundations? From what I have seen, they clear the land, flatten it with a road roller and then lay the concrete. Road collapses happen all of the time here, the land is mostly sandy soil.
  15. All of the leases that we provide state that the rent must be paid within 7 days of due date. Not paid? - evicted. In 20 years, we have only held back the deposit once. That renter still has an outstanding bill for items that were no longer in the villa as well as unpaid utilities. I am not holding my breath for the payment of that bill.
  16. Totally agree with that comment
  17. I use a Crumpler backpack. Not unlike the suggested above. The best selling point for me was a seperate slot for the laptop. I do not have to open the main bag.
  18. Have you ever been to a Thai hospital? I have never been asked to show id on visiting patients, including ones that have I driven to their homes. That includes both public and private hospitals.
  19. Too late. The banks themselves are loan sharks. That one example where the lady checked her bank balance and the bank had already deducted 6,000 baht.
  20. He comes and goes whenever he wants. Easy when you have a private jet. Also, your daddy's rich and you ma is good lookin. (Thanks to Ella Fitzgerald and others.) Statute of limitations on the last case (reckless driving causing death) runs out 2027.
  21. Corporal punishment was normal in the 50's and 60's. Most of us survived and grew up to be responsible parents and adults. Unfortunately, the few rotten apples caused the laws to be changed and now we have an out of control, woke society that does not understand discipline or respect. Those rotten apples will always exist regardless of the law. They are still around.
  22. My money is the second sentence happening before the first one. See you in Nana and we can give alms to the poor folk outside on the pavements.
