  1. I came on the recommendation of a Thai acquaintance many moons ago. A great 3 week holiday and returned every year until I retired. Knowing how cheap it was to live here I moved within a month of retirement and haven't looked back. And its still cheap.
  2. I'll believe you, but there are few who wont.
  3. Bangkok used to be known as the Venice of the East. Then some clown thought it a good idea to fill in the canals to make more roads due to the increase of cars. Now they wonder why Bangkok floods every rainy season. I can remember the first time I came to Thailand, over thirty years ago. The high water mark in the building of Sukhamvit road was at least 4 feet and the place stunk of effluent. I was not impressed. It has been 10 years since I was last in BKK and I wasn't very impressed then, either.
  4. I don't see the problem. The bank teller can read Thai and the photo can confirm ID. There is also the addition of a signature, although that is no guarantee of ID, but there is a signature in the back of the bank book which is checked at the point of use.
  5. Depends on the bank. I have had the pink card accepted at the main KBank branch I use, but not at another in the same province but different town. The KrungThai Bank always insist on my passport. I don't use the Banks counter service very often, its usually the bank app or the ATM.
  6. And make him replace the motorcycle, or how does the guy get to work?
  7. Yes, well. Rockets are very overpriced at the moment😇
  8. With one caveat, they are as hard as frozen peas. I have to admit I do but them, but I open the can and stand it in a pan of water and bring it o the boil for about 20 minutes. It doesn't improve the flavour, but with a stir or two it does soften the beans.
  9. This story was in the Daily Mail last week and was due to his own stupidity. Over stay on his visa and then working illegally as a teacher. He got what he deserved.
  10. Obviously too thick to put two and two together by serving the drinks, taking the money to be put into the cash register after five PM.
  11. If the education was half way decent, the government wouldn't have the problem to tackle.
  12. You skin-flint, you.🤑
  13. As you stated earlier, not having a TM30 for 12 years, and now say not planning to do one. I have been in Thailand for almost 20 years and have NEVER filed a TM30. I have been in and out of the country on many occasions, and stayed in numerous hotels around the country, but never been asked about a TM30. So why would I bother now? I go to immigration to do my visa renewal, but not for 90 days, either my wife or son does that. If the time should come when it is necessary, then so be it.
  14. With the world human population into the Billions, I'll stick with the cows thanks.
  15. Google puts out all kinds of information, some of it true, some of it suspect, and some drawn from government entities. Just because its google, doesn't mean its fact. Better to cross reference with other portals of information.
  16. Who the hell is this AI you keep on about!?🤣
  17. I do believe Thai's think water can run uphill. For 18 years it has flooded every time it rains along our road. The road has been relaid twice and drains relaid. The first time it was slightly better, but the water hung about for hours. The second time, the water backs up about 30meters and the market now gets flooded, very helpful. Fair do's I guess, as the water recedes much quicker but its still a foot deep while raining. Of course the drains are never cleaned, as that takes money from someone's pocket. Give it another 50 years and some progress may possibly be made!?
  18. If, at 70yrs old you don't like hospital tests, that to me sounds very much like a death wish. The body can only heal its self for minor things, but as you get older, those minor things can become major. Better to catch thing early, then leave it until it is too late. You are being given good advice here, If you choose to ignore it. I doubt we will be hearing from for much longer. Your choice of course.
  19. A 'teacher' I guess, so being practical? Tram lines, I suppose.
  20. Moonpig used to be very good. I used to get reminders of the birthdays which saved me a lot of hassle. However, for some reason all the reminders have stopped. Having reset everything hoping to get reminders, for some unknown reason I now don't get them.
  21. I have sent many letters to the UK and for the most part the time taken for delivery has been 8 to 10 days. There have also been a number of occasions when the item sits in Langley, Heathrow and the delivery time has been 3 or more weeks. One, some years ago got lost completely. Worse than the lottery!
  22. OK Norman. Never look on the bright, it may disrupt your negative outlook on life.
  23. 100% agree. Find out what the child is interested in doing and teach them accordingly. That system would cost more due to specialist teachers being required. The end result would be brighter and happier students/adults with a more knowledgeable workforce. The country can only gain.
