  1. My personal experience of 'inflation, is more in the way of 'shrinkflation'. Some of the items I buy have dropped in weight but still cost as much. The same thing with the roadside food stalls, you know you are getting less, but still paying the same. A restaurant I visit puts his prices up each year on all food and drink regardless of what he pays for his provisions. Everyone is in the same boat, take your choice and pay up, or go without. Up to you!
  2. Seen his statement in more than one international news outlet. He clearly admitted he was not wearing his seat belt.
  3. I don't know? They could all try suing God!
  4. You are missing the most important fact, bob. He has admitted he was not wearing the seat belt at the time of this incident. The airline could refuse any compensation under the circumstances.
  5. PERHAPS! They all realised they were getting nowhere with their education, and decided there was no point carrying on?
  6. "Reportedly, five children were seen at the hut before the incident. Two of them, who also resided in the temple, had left the premises." Makes one wonder, was the fire started from inside or outside?
  7. Thia's show 'respect' to their elders and supposed betters. The problem is, it has been forced on them by their elders and supposed betters from a very early age, over many centuries, so ingrained in the culture.
  8. Ah, but the sun was shining this morning and this afternoon it rained and a thunder storm. That's climate change for sure. Don't under estimate these kids!
  9. A university close to me was closed due that problem. It is taking along time to get back on its feet after a two year closure.
  10. At Private Schools no doubt. There still those who learn from their parents or employer, the rote way. No critical thinking required and no chance of advancement to better themselves. The pendulum swings, but that is all it can do.
  11. “From what I’ve observed, the government has merely been repairing the current education system". It has neither the tools or the parts required to make the repairs. Throw all the money you want at the broken system, but it will never improve until the learn by rote is scrapped, and students can ask questions. Teach them to think, not what to think with teachers who can teach, not someone applying for a cushy job for life.
  12. Very sorry my sense of humour fell short of its mark this time.
  13. Haggling over a price in the markets is all part of the fun of a market visit. I learnt that lesson in Chiang Mae over 30 years ago. A very nice tooled leather belt with a buckle I really liked. 500b was the price quoted. I paid 300b which at that time would have been £6:70. I still have that leather belt, but it is now too short.
  14. Here we go gathering nuts in May!😄 It appears someone is skating on very thin ice here.
  15. Are you saying you don't marinade your spliff in alcohol before you smoke it😄
  16. I believe they have come to that conclusion already. They are also looking at ways to deport thousands of illegal immigrants, after Merkal opened the door to at least a million.
  17. Because, your visa status is in your passport, and most banks look.
  18. I will give it a miss if they don't mind. I may be getting on in life, but I would continued in that vain thanks.
  19. It was the headline which attracted my attention. 'Police Spring into Action'. I mean, could they? Would they? A little more than exaggeration I believe.
  20. If you make a Will to cover the assets held in Thailand, then the laws of Thailand apply, if said Will was drawn up in Thailand. If you make a Will in a foreign country, drawn up in that foreign country, then the laws of that country apply. If you should make a Will in Thailand to cover ALL assets world wide, the laws of Thailand apply, but all Wills can be contested by any or all beneficiaries. I have a Will to cover my few assets in Thailand, drawn up by a Thai lawyer. I have another Will to cover assets in the UK, drawn up by solicitors in the UK. Both state quite clearly that neither can make a claim against the other.
  21. A lobotomy! I have to say, it was not a very good job. Do you think you could have a word with the surgeon, perhaps he could do a better job the second time around?
  22. I feel sure everyone knows, given the slightest chance, these people would have the shirt off your back and think nothing of the suffering that would cause.
