Has anyone stooped to consider the possibility Trump is just saying he has Covid.

Here is a list of the pluses he gets

    1) the sympathy vote

    2) He can have a miraculous recovery in 2-3 days

    3) his recovery would show how healthy and strong he really is

    4) his quick recovery would show the virus to be no big deal

    5) he was justified in doing nothing about it, down playing it.

I wouldnt put it past him to fake the whole thing, nobody would benefit more than trump from faking having the virus.

Well, I think we all need to remember that regardless of your feelings about Donald Trump, he is still the POTUS and we should all be concerned about his health and well being. He is 74 years old and this could potentially be a huge problem going forward. I have made it known many times that I do not like him but his health and well being is paramount for the country.

we all remember he has good genes

It's hard to pin down what these guys are really about.  Maybe they're just a bunch of lonely guys angry at the world because they can't get laid.  I recall another male-only group that was created because of precisely that.  Their name escapes me.

"The blend of racism, misogyny, irony, and hipness has its own history, one that most coverage of the alt-right neglects. White nationalists groups have long been refashioning themselves as cutting-edge modernists. And when they do, when they present themselves as intellectuals, artists, techies, and free-speechers, many journalists cover their modern style with a sense of surprise — even though this sort of hipster racism has been around for decades."

To be fair US scientists have performed terrible.

I do like Trump's focus on keeping things open though, in hindsight that was the right approach and the panic-mongers had it wrong.

Again, everyone knows this virus is a curse and pestilence on all nations, and I don't think that diminishes America's cultural prestige, even if admittedly the scientists and "experts" did, at least initially perform very badly.

and how has Trump contributed to America's cultural Prestige?

No it's still the current times.

America's cultural influence is gigantic. Dress, music, TV, technology, software, social media, literature.

There is no country on earth that has more cultural prestige, more cultural influence than the US.

How has America's influence or prestige gone south? It's as strong as ever.

This is all beautiful but what about Trump's handling of the pandemic when it comes to the best Nation on the Planet with the best scientists in the world?

Not at all. America's prestige is still sky-high.

The dollar is the total boss in the Forex markets.

Kids from Bangkok to London to Paris to Caracas are watching US TV and dancing to US music.

The biggest companies in the world are still Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook etc.

The most powerful military is still in the US.

People still dress wearing Nike, Jeans and Ralph Lauren.

What country on earth has more prestige than the US? None.

How has American prestige suffered? Because two candidates insult each other? Sensitive much?

America's prestige as superpower (not soft power like K-Pop)  leading the free world ( Democracy) is way above marketing segments.

But your statement - sadly - totally resonates with Trump's strategy as reported by his former fixer, M. Cohen  "  “Donald Trump is a man who ran for office to make his brand great,” “not to make our country great.”

    Elections have consequences. Of course!

  7. Paris attack highlights threat from Islamic anti-blasphemy groups

“We are proud of our son. Everything he has done is in his love for Prophet Muhammad, Ali Hassan’s father called on the Pakistani government and other Muslim countries to repatriate his son. “I ask the Pakistani government to bring my son home, he said. He served Islam and we are a Muslim country . He said people from the area came to congratulate him on his son’s actions. He said he had traveled to France in search of work.

"The sect, which the father said his son and family adhere to, focuses on respecting the personality of the Prophet Muhammad. Barelvi Islam has become more assertive in recent years as it has competed for influence with other sects. But the issue of blasphemy is also becoming more important for other Muslim traditions. The issue of blasphemy is being militarized"

    https://www.fr24news.com/a/2020/09/paris-attack-highlights-threat-from-islamic-anti-blasphemy-groups.html

"In recent years, the threats have evolved — from large-scale, organized plots, like the Nov. 2015 attacks in Paris, in which more than 100 were killed, to isolated acts that are harder to predict and prevent. Mr. Mahmood had been taken into the care of French social services under a false identity and had been posing as a minor named Hassan Ali since his arrival in France in the summer of 2018. "

I don't trust the NY times. Let's revisit this story in a couple weeks and see if they apologize - again!

NYT, established since 1851, with worldwide influence...

Trump - serial liar - most influential person in the world..   calling US Press the "enemy of the people":

"President Trump told Lesley Stahl “ ‘You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so that when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.’”

How coincidental that the illegal leak of Trump's tax information is released just days before the 1st presidential debate.  Almost as if they had nothing going into the debate and sorely needed something . . . anything.

Another "we got him now" moment for the left to seize on and pin their slivers of hope.
