  1. Good Luck , BUT not goodbye , I hope you do get back & keep posts going , I follow them.

I am a visitor for a few months each year since '85 , but I wont make it this year due to contractual obligations.

WA & Q'land Mining Industries are screaming for workers . I am sure you already know that.

    All the Best

    B) B)

  2. It is endemic , it is organised , it has been around for many years before the latest round of publicity.

    No 1 FACT

    It will never be eradicated

    Message to TOURISTS :-

DON'T HIRE JET SKIS IN THAILAND

Simple way to avoid being a victim

  3. I just spent 2 months touring Uk/Ireland/Wales/ Europe touching in about 16 Countries.

Some of the Tourist spots are so expensive there , it is undestandable why people look to Asia.

Pattaya is still regarded as a Cheap Sex & Booze destination , if I bought it up in conversations & that was an overall opinion over most people , young & Older.

I must admit that some of the Moronic behaviour I have seen in Patts over the last 30 + years I have been going is duplicated in most of the cheaper locations for Tourists.

Most of the idiots behave like that anyway , but, exaggerate it when away from the home turf , I have found.

    Just an opinion

    :jap: :jap:

  4. About eleven years ago i lived in Phuket and the same jet scams we've all seen and heard about down the beaches in Pattaya had been going on for donkeys years.

After numerous tourist complaints over x-number of years the mayor decided he'd clean up the jet ski trade and phase it out completly.

    What happened?

'Nothing' and that's what will happen in Pattaya.

The worst part about your post is that you are correct

    Nothing will change

  5. Surfers Paradise is a dump ----- and only suitable for people with more money than sense ------ in fact the place should be quarantined, fumigated, and then given back to the aboriginals.

Absolute nonsense, but because it's a bit off topic we'll leave it at that. What's your opinion of Pattaya, and the cost of living there?

Obviously you never stayed at the Versace Palazzo on the Gold Coast..

  6. I am ashamed they are from Australia (nothing to do with poms). I doesn't surprise me though, our country is going to the dogs because of the behavious of the young that think they have all the rights in the world without the responsibilities.

Not all us aussies are bad, sorry for their pathetic behaviour.

    I would second that.

Hear ! Hear ! I totally agree & I have seen similar on Public Transport in Perth , Sydney Boozed & Drugged up Aussie Youth & Females also .

    :realangry:

  7. The YMCA used to be very reasonable for a single room with TV and a sink and a bathroom down the hall. It is not far from the Thai Consulate if it is still open.

There is no longer a Thai consulate in Perth.

Correct , they closed Months ago. As with most things in Perth , everything has to come from the EAST. My Visa to India for Multiple 1 year had to come from Canberra at a cost of $399.00

    :annoyed:

  8. Do you have a budget ????

By that , I mean are you looking for the med - high end or Budget pricing ??

I like the Duxton & Hilton Personally , but my clients are usually footing the bill.

    Approx 150US$ budget wise.

I suggest you go to Booking .com & we just used them again & they got me a Discounted price at a 4 star up the Coast in WA.

I checked & they can get rooms at the Perth Parmelia Hilton for around $130.00 a night ..Very Cheap.

    Good Luck

  9. Do you have a budget ????

By that , I mean are you looking for the med - high end or Budget pricing ??

I like the Duxton & Hilton Personally , but my clients are usually footing the bill.

  10. It is hard to believe that this has been going on for so long & NOTHING is done except the PRICE DEMANDS have increased.

If it wasn't so dangerous the whole thing would be Pathetic.

Let's see this added to the "Multi Million Dollar Upgrade to attract Tourism."

WELL DONE to PATTAYA ONE about time, I might add that some media stopped fawning & put some 'gu*s' into reporting in Pattaya.

The words "P***ce" in Thai means "Useless" in the Scam of things in Pattaya & Phuket doesn't it. ???

Tourist Police NEGOTIATING , ya gotta be kidding !!

    :realangry:

  11. this is the same 'pride' that demonstrates the new 'International' standards lifting Patts into a world destination ...Yahoooooo !!

I think the Tents disguising the 'Crash & Bash' of the Jet Ski scams , hiding the Lady Boys from Public view & totally hiding the 'floating' objects & jellyfish polluting the so- called Beach is working wonderfully.

Now if they offered a cheap $150.00 4 day visit to Tourists in India to come to Thailand they would really get the Tourist figures UP OOooooops they just did that !!

    :jap:

  12. now with the exceptional cheap all in fares offered from India the "Tourist Figures" will rise to a "High" & everybody will be able to say Patts is forging ahead.

I was just in Mumbai & Hyderabad & for about $150.00 it gives you a four day break here all in..WOW

We all know how the Indians throw their money around so the economy is going to go Gangbusters

    :cheesy:

  13. Sadly, on a visit to BPH this morning we found that Dr.Thun passed away in Bangkok on the 11th.

My wife broke down , he is regarded by us as the epitomy of a Caring , Gentlemanly ,Professional.

Pattaya & Thailand have lost a Great Man. Our best to his wife & family

    R I P

  14. uzzWent there yesterday , tried to overcome my Vertigo , could only do the first Zip Line , BUT my wife (Grandmother of 5 ) had a ball completing all platforms & wants to do it again.

    Value for Money ????

    YES !!!!

    Staff Professional ???

    YES !!!

This opinion was shared by our group , Australian,American,Isralie,German , Iranian

As my Darling said at the end "What a Buzz ! "

    :D

  15. Is it that hard to park where its not being used for them to try & make a 'protected' living??

Personally , IMHO if you were to wreak havoc , it would come back on you big time.

I don't accept threats BUT, would NEVER bring it up in a forum post citing any actions I have taken or want to ( IF I was to take any or planned to that is! )

Life is too short to let this crap eat you up

  16. It's a simple calculation to work out that if you achieve average occupancy of 30% over the course of the year. 700 Baht per night would just about cover the 70,000 Bt per month rent that you are paying.

35% occupancy may just cover the rent, electricity and 1 staff

40% occupancy may give you a very small profit

I have no idea what you mean by the lower end of Soi Buakhow, which end is that?

Taking into account the very short high season, do you really think that you could maintain a 40% occupancy rate over the whole year? I doubt it.

Earn money from a bar? Well, it is possible, but I have known a few experienced bar owners that have tried in Soi B, luckily they have found a mug to sell to. With no experience and no idea of how to run a business, you will most likely lose money on a bar, the same as most who have tried.

Obviously a typo in the OP. Is that supposed to be 50,000 Baht deposit?

Have you actually paid any money to furnish the rooms yet?

    Have you signed a lease?

Oh, and don't forget that should you be lucky enough to actually make a profit, the rent will be increased to make sure that you don't when the lease is renewed.

If all you have paid out so far is 50K deposit, you should give serious consideration to pulling out while your maximimum loss is 50K

IMHO the above is correct. :- Whatever you have already paid is the max loss you will make if you STOP NOW
