  1. Only once had a BKK taxi not want to turn the meter on.

No need to say anything in any language. Avoid conflict being a high priority.

Simply left the taxi and got into one of the other 59,999.

Airport to BKK town. Take a bus outside the airport if no bags. Fast and easy but obviously not really a comparison to a delivered service.

Go upstairs and grab an inbound taxi. Saves 50 baht:-)

Hopefully there will not come a day when CM has thousands of taxis. Might be quite interesting when say someone calls a taxi to go to say Ban Ta Wai. Chances are the driver will have to return to CM empty. Will be out of business in a month or two.

    Bring on more pink buses!

  2. Hi all

couple of us would like to visit one of the above as there are some great deals to fly there.

Please could the forum assist with the choice.

Based on things to pass away a few days (3) WITHOUT going outside of the city, or not more than a few km's by public transport.

Fans of culture, nature and a nice evening drink. Like food with change from 100baht for two:-)

    Do not need massages:-)

    Thanks in advance

  3. It's hardly metered when you pay 30 baht for the first 2 km's and way above Bangkok rates.

Doesn't metered refer to that little box in the car that calculates the fare according to a charge scale.

Incidently if BKK is 35Baht flag fall fee, i just got out of one and it is how comes CM at 30 baht is "way above"??

    Curious

The 'husband' can not be that bothered if he spent six years breaking the law. Had plenty of time to think about it?

  9. QUOTE (taxexile @ Thu 2004-06-03, 11:25:37)

before i got married i had a girl friend with dark skin, but found myself looking at the light skinned girls, now that i am married to a light skinned girl i find myself looking at the dark skinned ones.

    its a funny old world.

perhaps being married is just not your thing?

    "looking" is ok

  10. Well things must have changed because the courts will / would accept an application for a divorce where one has an official marriage certificate for a marrage between a Thai and a "farang" (sh*t I dislike that word) from outside of Thailand even when the marriage is not / was not registered at an Amphur

in Thailand. And I mean not ever registered at an Amphur.

So that contradicts the claim that the only marriage that is legally binding is "if you get it done at the Amphur"

It's from the horses (or one of them horses) mouth.

Rule number one... only listen to Government Officials not horses.

No registration and certificate from the Amphur = NO MARRIAGE. Any other form of ceremony is for 'show' only.

Often one follows the other but YOU MUST obtain the certificate.

THen have it translated to English and it is legal worldwide.

Uk certianly, others probably require the signature of the Embassy representative for which the fee is the same as in UK.

Wedding with huge party rather a lot cheaper.

    hth :o

  11. I was trying to imagine the testing of Porn before purchase ..In the street?

Open the pretty wrapper and inside probably NOT the same:-)

Yes over the bridge in Tachilek, the directions will work better that way :o

Have fun and pm if you get a surplus.

    Linkin Park in Texas..Hint :D

  12. YOHAN

I assume from have a very good sense of humour.

your name that English may not be your first language?

Davethailand in NO WAY was making comments about Thai Ladies, Thailand or anything else really.

The STABLE and HORSES connect to make a joke.

I understood it . How come you did not.

Your post in reply was very intersting reading but hardly typical i am afraid. Read the statistices.

And an apology to DaveT may be in order.

I do believe he is married to a Thai girl after all!!

  13. Ajarn

It was Doisaket that posted but i will assist.

Cross the bridge past all the touts etc.

Take the first set of steps down to the street market.

Turn immediately right. Walk not more than 50 metres and the shop on the left is great. If you miss that entrance and arrive at the next road. Turn left and it is on the left. Like an 'L' shaped shop.

I think 110Baht is the norm.

Would not agree that "every imaginable" but certainly a lot.

THey are Chinese origin so technically legal for personal use:-)

Have subtitles that can be turned off and the soundtrack is USUALLY english but ask:-)

MP3's of thai and international go 5 4 100 baht.

    Proper CD's about 80-90.

DO NOT buy porn in the streets unless they are prepared to test it . THey wont be:-) Like karaoke!!!! :o

Had a dodgy dvd once and they just changed it on the next trip.

Have some superb collector boxed sets like the whole 'ER' or 'NYPD' series etc.

    Have fun.

    Get me a few??

  14. I would have thought after 5 years in LOS a bloke would have known a bit more about the customs to be truthfull.

also the original poster says MARRIED before and paid 10,000 baht.

This new one is 1000 times that.

Great way to start a marriage.

Errr your dad said he would give me back 700,000 but i see he has a new pickup.

Run whilst you still can:-) :o

  15. Baht which I have loaned to some nice Thai people. I don't lend one satang now, with out some collateral or in the case of it being a female (and I get at least one plea for "help" meaning money a week) I tell them to happen by and work it off.

    JBG

You may find money lending on the list of employments 'not open to aliens' :o

  16. I don't do many things which are " The Law".

I have ridden a motorcycle without wearing a helmet.

    Rented cars without a license.

I have even worked without a permit, and on a tourist visa!

I used to play the illegal lottery and gamble playing snooker.

I did a few illegal things on Goh Pan Ngan, oh and Pat Pong, Nana Plaza and Cowboy.

I could go on and on, reporting every 90 days for an extended visa etc.

I take my chances by not carrying my passport, although I have a photocopy.

If they ever stop me and charge me 3000 baht then I may start carrying it.

If you ever write a guide how to behave in Thailand remind me not to read it! :o
