    becoming a crusade this. :D

website is not exactly what you would call user friendly to say the least. Emphasis on bells and knobs that break and keep visitors away from the facts:-((

Guess the actual venue is not like that :o

  2. interested in finding a double bed

Hands up all those that think a double bed is a matress and frame :D

David in the time you have messed about the 1800 baht for a new one will seem cheap :o

  3. Thai Panich (SCB)

P1P ever learn about writing in jargon:-))

There are no more brothels in Chiang Mai. As far as I know, they were all shut down last year, for reasons unknown.

    Who sez?

Are you saying there are "no more brothels in Chaingmai"?, or are you quoting someone (with tongue in cheek)

Possibly a couple of reasons for them all being shut down last year (which of course they weren't in any event) is that they are illegal, but the main reason would be that the coppers were not getting sufficient by way of protection money.

There are and will be (for the foreseeable future anyway) brothels in the majority of cities and towns in Thailand. As a farang they can be difficult to find but believe it they are there.

    Nice one :o

    Got a map?

  5. Thai-Chinese business is going to operate profitably on 3% to 5% margins?

Where does that figure come from?

    THey get

    A. Profit on a sale.

    B. A spread between the buy and sell rate, like shares.

    C. INCREASE in the gold price over the years.

    D. ZERO theft.

    E. Continual trade.

If it is such a bad business how come they all drive Merc's:-)

Stand outside one of those places in Yawaraat and try to estimate the value of the stock:-)

Stay an hour and calculate the turnover and profit.

Nice work if you can get it IMO.

Do take the point about the previous posters bad experience and can say each to their own :o

  7. 2. I have been ripped off and know of 3 other individuals who have been ripped off in Pattaya. The place was not a street seller as you put it but an establish gold shop on south pattaya road about 2 blocks from the walking street. I am not sure of the place where the other people have been ripped off.

Are we talking about the same thing here??

Was the place in PTY a GOLD shop selling NOTHING but the 'pure' gold. Usually all red and has the buy and sell price on display or a jewellery store?

The jewellery store for sure it is a good chance .

THe Gold shops that Thais use almost like cash . Never have i come across any problems.

CAN NOT agree with the Chicago scenario either.

Go say to London and buy some gold. Take it back a year later and say you want to sell it. Think the loss will be higher.

Purchased 10 baht in BKK 10 years back at 4350. a baht. Take it to ANY shop in Thailand to sell it now and it is 7450 a baht. Really can not see any problem.

As to whether Hong Kong is better ??

From my experience gold is currency here. Try pawning the 'chicago' gold:-)

  8. has did all those who never did a visa run in person, but they are still here!! sitting in judgement of others.

If you feel anything was pointed at you personally, I appologise.

    Accepted :o

Agree on your point too. They wont be forever though. The situation is changing for sure.

As Mummy always says "honesty is the best policy" Except with road traffic accidents!!

  9. Where as, if you leggit, it will probably take ages for the cops to find you, and then all you have to do, is give them a few Baht to go away........Simple eh?

    Sick.... but simple

What about when the driver of a tour bus crashes and 30 passengers die. He runs off.

Does the owner of the tour bus not know who was driving at the time and what obligation is he under to give up that information.?

I know in a lot of Western countries if the license plate is taken the OWNER cops for all unless they prove someone else is the driver...by giving them up.

    :o

What you write is spot on.

Asia "and Thailand is close to being the worst example" creates (perhaps by omission) the climate whereby this animal behaviour and practice can flourish.

And it is also true what many have said, that "incest and child abuse" is a very frequent and ever present pastime of so many Thai people.

The Thais (those in power) are often heard uttering comments about the westernisation of Thailand but they should (must) look inwards for the answers.

    Nicely put.

All the comments about hanging and torture are spot on but the fact remains that if an environment is created for and activity to flourish then the people that want to participate in that activity will follow.

Shooting ALL the 'foreigners' involved WILL NOT stop the problem.

    Just my 3 baht

It seems the locals are getting nervous  , I hope they find you, deport you, jail you and then Bubba rapes you!

What exactly are you incinuating here????

We are talking about a group of bad people as per Georges initial report. Not every CM or Thai forum member has either read the post nor wants to reply to it. It does not infer nervousness or a lack of concern.

    CRazy suggestion :o

I can see your point about 'some' of the posters that you may have had cause to make you think that way but i am not one of them!!! and you 'holier than thou' was directed at people that had replied to this post not past tense:-)

Penang IS a type of curry :o

  12. Think you will find that if you went back to the UK to live and wanted to register and claim various benefits that the wedding certificate needs an 'approved, licensed ' translation.

the translations doesn't have to be by an approved service. When I got mine done, the people forgot to sign it and the MFA just got my gf to sign as doing the translation. They were happy, they stamped it and away it all went

Can you state ONE reason why a child bor to a THAI mother on THAI sole is entitled to claim benefits from the UK.

Did you read the question or do you truly believe your answer?? :o

NO WAY is what you are saying correct.

If a child BORN in the UK leaves the UK for say 6 years in Asia then the child CAN NOT claim either.

    :D
