  1. "They have been reports that hard core protestors will arrest the prime minister, myself and seize Government House, and create violence before sneaking into hiding at nearby Sanam Suapa, Wat Benjamabopitr and important government buildings,” the deputy premier said."

    Who told him this? Jatuporn? Give me a break with this non-sense.

    Same as little Oak's game: "somebody wants to kill my father, I beg all red shirts to tell my father not to go to Burma" bah.gif

  2. The fact that the panties were freshly laundered indicates that he wasn't a 'sniffer'. I trust that he was very selective about his loot; there are some big ladies out there these days. I think they might be wearing modified bell tents.

    or, there are some small man out there, especially in Thailand.

  3. I suspect that the democratic protesters will be outnumbered several-to-one, by the forces of oppression control, unless of course the government knows something that they haven't yet told the rest of us ?

    Can this seeming over-reaction be due merely to one man's paranoia-from-afar ?

    One can only hope that the protest goes smoothly & peacefully.

    To think, last week Obama was praising Thailand's democracy! One does indeed hope for a peaceful and smooth exercise of democracy. But, judging by the foreces of control being assembled, I doubt it. This seems more like a set up to teach you "protest in public and you'll get beat up, arrested or worse".

    Occupy Wall Street should have shut down JFK airport and then climbed the fences of the White House and set up shop there. That would have went over well.

    You can't have a functioning society if every two years 50k people get together and shut down the country.

    I am sorry the yellow shirts cant win an election. that is life. move on.

    You can't have a functioning society if you ban peaceful protests, make appointments based on nepotism and cronyism, and allow the government members to act without any concern of the law.

    Presumably your idea of a functioning society is Uganda, Zimbabwe, North Korea, Cuba etc - not many protesters there.

    Or Cambodia where a gathering of 50 or more will be ended by authorities with brute force. That's the democracy many people seem to like.

  4. Well unless she is going to be front and centre at the protest surrounded with 50,000 policeman, how is the ISA going to help one jot. As the sister of a billionaire she would have been a potential kidnap target.

    She's a billionairess in her own right. Same as her nephew and nieces.

    That alone could mark her as a potential kidnap target.

    Same as just being an ex-PM could mark anyone else to be a potential assassination target.

    What's lacking in both of these specific instances of the Shinawatras is that pesky thing called proof.

    Proof is something you don't need to provide in Thailand if you have a good story. blink.png

  5. "Being a democracy is not only about exercising one's freedom. The rule of law must also be observed and obeyed. In exercising one's rights and freedoms, one must not impinge on the rights and freedoms of others," she said.

    Really? What a pity you weren't the PM in 2010.

    Does burning down the city fall under "impinge the rights and freedoms of others"?

  6. I doubt the Ptak Siam opponents are able to overthrow anything. They will not cause a coup. They can only bring to light the continued mismanagement of Thailand by an inept Government bent on corrupt practice. Saturday, if it stays a protest and not a riot, will be nothing more than a storm in a teacup. But it will show others in Thailand there is a huge dissent between people and governance.

    I like the statement "Key opposition figures have been working hard to turn Thailand's half-baked democracy into a full-fledged one since the 1980s. " The best part being 'half-baked' democracy. At least the journalist knows his work.

    The thorn in the side of all is the continued interference by Thaksin in Thailand from afar. Remove that issue and a lot of the problems will cease. Sure, health failure, a bullet, not going to happen (I wish). The most important thing to do is get the courts to summons, try in his absence the other remaining charges (I understand there are at least 6), impose sentence of contempt of court for failure to appear, even if no case can be proven or resolve against the other charges, and lodge sentences against each charge of contempt. After all everyone forgets he is a bail jumper. Then there can be no pardon or change to the constitution that will allow his freedom. A charge for theft, fraud, bribery, murder et al can be overturned but contempt of court is never overturned. Oh well - wishful thinking. Can you imagine PTP trying to run Thailand without the puppet master? They wouldn't last a year. As for those who believe in this mob being a 'democratically elected' government, that can never be up held as long as votes can be bought, and they were.

    I love reading your posts - they are very articulate and accurate, you are a master of words thumbsup.gif

  7. Lunatics running the assylum. Who care about laws and constitutions. If you're democratically eleceted you can do what you want, just please yourself. Foreign leaders welcome this regime so everything must be good. Didn't Mugabe and Saddam Hussein start off like this? Get elected, followed by extreme nepotism and cronyism, self-delusional meglamania. Oh what fun to come.

    "Oh what fun to come"

    Hold tight, we're almost there.

  8. Have you forgotten that there weren't clashes between pro- and anti-government rallies two and a half years ago?

    .

    there most certainly were.

    And what the hell does that have to do with the government being accountable for their own snipers anyway?

    Good ol' fair n balanced...

    Whether or not the government had snipers killing protestors is for you to judge...

    I know for sure that the Peaceful red protestors had weapons and killed government officials..

    So you know, without a shadow of a doubt, individual peaceful red protesters that killed government officials and have, of course, passed on this knowledge and back up evidence to the appropriate authorities for prosecution under the law.

    OR do you mean

    I believe that the red shirts were responsible for the deaths of government officials because of what I have seen on the TV, or you tube, and what I have read on this forum and other media sources and have been influenced by the society I mix with, am married to or otherwise engaged with. I may be wrong but I am sure as hell not going to admit it here and anyway it's the truth.

    OR do you mean,

    I think I'm right but am quite willing to listen to alternatives that some deaths may be accountable, but not all, to the people who haven't been identified or caught and may or may not be linked to the red shirts - (if proven obviously these red shirts would be anything other than peaceful so that's obviously a daft statement to make, peaceful red shirts don't attack people with weapons, by definition.) Anyway lets see what comes out with these inquests that are going ahead at the moment and then I'll make up my mind.

    Which mindset is yours?

    "Which mindset is yours?"

    Let's see what Tharit's mindset was if you don't believe me. I assume you know Tharit otherwise please look him up.

    This is what he said in July 2010 when a mib called Surachai was arrested on his recommendation.

    DSI Director general Tharit Phengdit said that from an initial investigation Surachai is found to be involved with 8 criminal cases, most (or all) of them are related to the MiB.

    These 8 cases include:

    1) the firing of an M79 into the 11th Infantry Regiment on January 28, 2010;

    2) the firing of grenades during the incidents at Kok Wua intersection on April 10, 2010, which caused 5 deaths of soldiers (including that of Col Romklao);

    3) the firing into the oil depot at Prathum Thani on April 21, 2010;

    4) the firing of an M79 into the BTS station at Sala-Daeng on April 22, 2010, which caused 2 deaths and 78 injuries;

    5) the firing of an RPG into Dusit-Thani Hotel on May 17, 2010 (note: according to Matichon, Tharit was quoted as stating that Surachai admitted that he fired a Travo gun into Dusit-Thani because he believed that the shot that killed at Sae-Daeng was fired from the hotel);

    6) the firing attack into the police flat at Lumpini Police Station on May 19, 2010, causing deaths and injuries of police officers and their families;

    7) the firing of an M16 on police officers and soldiers in front of the Krung Thai Bank, Sala-Daeng Branch, on May 7, 2010, which caused 1 death and 2 injuries of policemen;

    8) the firing into the UCL building on May 14, 2010, causing 1 deaths and 4 injuries of police officers (see Thairath).

  9. Democrat Party spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said the government must be held responsible if there is a clash between pro- and anti-government rallies.

    Looks like this frickin moron has forgotten about the government snipers two and a half years ago.

  10. She is so cute - I want to add her to my harem.

    I hear you brother....

    Keep dreaming. With the mental acuity and mentality demonstrated by your collective comments, I do not believe you have much chance attracting a member of Thailand's upper class, let alone any woman with self respect.

    Upper class AND self respect. Who are you talking about?

  11. no one need to speak proper English, speak Thai and let someone translate. On questions this gives you the advantages as you understand the question, and have time to think until the translation is finished.

    As well, considering her speeches in Thai language the translator can correct the worst mistakes....so she can speak about the president of Malaysia, country Sydney and get the numbers wrong and the translator fixes such small issues.

    Whilst it's right that the PM should travel abroad and promote Thailand as government leaders in other countries do it should be balanced with attention to domestic issues and appearing in parliament. The PM should oversee her ministers and work with them when necessary. In the case of foreign matters the Foreign Minister should be handling this with some input from the PM. The clue is in the job title.

    As regards her English skills I had a strange conversation with my Thai gf yesterday. I asked if Yingluck's English was better than hers and she said yes but her Thai is not very good. I couldn't understand her explanation for this so I can't really back this up but it surprised me.

    From comments I've heard from well educated Thais she has a reputation for being somewhat inarticulate. To be fair I would imagine her career path wouldn't have demanded it and heaven knows she never expected to be PM after all.

    Oh Dear...........are you saying she can't speak proper Thai ??

    She is by your account inarticulate but she is the PM and seems to be being taken seriously by the major nations.

    Bit of a contradiction there, I think.

    Pity AV for all his Britishness, never made it to PM of Britain, never mind the Queen or POTUS.

    A certain baseball boy you should know implications of that.

    "Oh Dear...........are you saying she can't speak proper Thai ??"

    Not proper goes too far.

    Please ask around and you might also come to the conclusion that many Thais think that her Thai is not that sophisticated to say the least.

  12. Yingluck's mangled and hypocritical speech at the OP's Democracy Forum begins at 04:11

    blink.png

    .

    I am wondering if the part where she praises the reds was thrown into the speech (after Thein Sein refused to be Thaksin's pawn) in order to give the Reds some positive attention after they were cheated by their leader.

    It could also be possible that it was planned to coincide with Thaksin meeting the reds in Burma.

    .

    What did she say??

    Sounded like she said, "Your excellency, Presindent Su Slow bang bang usoslow ur my testi". Why does she insist on speaking in butchered english?

    "Why does she insist on speaking in butchered english?"

    It is an advantage for her to speak in butchered english. It means that the majority of Thais AND foreigners can’t understand her, hence, won’t know she only talks crap.

  14. The redshirts do not support democracy.

    They are terrorist fighting under the guise of freedom fighters.

    This problem between the red and yellow shirts will never end, Thailand will never be the same because of one man who destroyed it, and his name is Thaksin Shinawatra.

    90% of the people on this board have not followed the series of events since it began, everything is twisted around and pointing in the wrong direction now.

    You are assuming it was the right way round before. Democracy, The Thai Army and Thai Politics, are like oil and water. They just won't mix

    It has always been a mess but Thaksin has taken it to a completely different level. The man is truly unique.
