  1. I lost two friends to colon cancer in there 50s so I think everyone over 50 should have a colonoscopy. An ApoB blood test is also important for heart disease risk.
  2. That's my experience with bullies - once they've been stood up to they back off and when they return they want to be your best friend
  3. Wise is not a bank but will supply you with an account number and sort code from a partner bank. Here is the statement from Wise https://wise.com/us/blog/wise-as-bank-account#:~:text=Does Wise count as a,but a Money Services provider.
  4. It isn't the PC they remember but your browser. The mobile phone is different tho' and I don't know about tablets
  5. The temporary 45 day visa-exempt entry terminated on march 31st. TAT widely reported that it would be extended until the end of the year but the government over ruled them. Hopefully, there will be more sensible decisions from the new incumbent.
  6. Now, isn't outrage from netizens on FB that has caused people in authority to bow down to public opinion. Red Bull pardon, Joe Ferrari etc etc
  7. You are correct as the UK e-visa system says you must have £10,000 in your bank. I think this is a typo but as you say it puts ppl off. You can only enter Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days and get one extension for a further 30 days giving you 60 days not 90. The last visa-exempt entry extension to 45 days was very popular and TAT was pushing for it to be extended to the end of the year but the last PM decided to bin it on 31st March of this year and revert back to 30 days.
  8. It's not quackery. Very acidic food like lemons are metabolized by our stomachs as an alkaline and baking soda is also an alkaline so this raises the PH slightly and reduces the amount of uric acid your body produces from the purines in the food. Apple cider vinegar has the same effect for me.
  9. I agree, as my bank let me download and print pdf of my account. The last 3 times I've applied for my non O e-visa the online application says I need £10,000 in my bank but this is a typo as I been granted my visa every time and never has 10k in my bank. Who on earth do they expect would keep 10k in their current account?
  10. Not true in my experience. We married in the UK and when we moved here my wife registered our marriage at the Amphur and then changed her name on all official documents. She owns our house and land and two years ago bought another small plot of land all in her married farang name.
  11. Vit C has been proven to help the body dispel Uric Acid. Colchicine is an excellent treatment for Gout attacks but best taken with a NSAID that is handled by the Liver, such as Naproxen. The NSAID reduces the swelling, the cause of the pain, and the Colchicine discourages the white blood cells from repeating the swelling. You should also drink plenty of water so you urinate regularly and dispel the Uric Acid.
  12. The best treatment for acute gout attack is Naproxen (NSAID) and Colchicine, google for correct dosage of each. Then if attacks become frequent you can look at taking a life long drug every day called Allopurinol, there are many drugs used to help gout but this one is by far the most common.. This is a long term treatment for chronic gout and not a cure for acute attacks plus it can make an attack worse initially. Allopurinol takes about 3 to 6 weeks to have any real affect and the correct way to start taking it is to have your Uric Acid levels checked weekly so the dosage can be adjusted to suit you. If you're strong willed then life style changes can have the same affect as Allopurinol. Dehydration makes attacks more likely as the Kidney is the organ that dispels Uric Acid so the more you pee the more you dispel, but as we get older our kidneys are not so proficient at producing the enzyme needed to dispel the Uric Acid.
  13. Then the people he did the deal with will not get paid and I'm sure he knows where all the bodies are buried.
  14. Yes, as a previous poster has said you can get paperwork from Wise but most likely you will need co-operation from your Thai bank and Wise's Thai bank (I think they use Kasikorn but don't quote me). If you don't choose 'Funds for Long term stay in Thailand' as the reason you are transferring money then the funds are sent by Wise to Kasikorn and then to your bank internally so the final transfer is domestic and not international. If you choose 'Funds for long term stay in Thailand' the transfer takes longer, up to 72 hours, as Kasikorn send the money manually and reference it as an international transfer.
  15. Certificates of Residency are free but my otherwise very honest immigration office charged me 500 baht, but it is available while you wait. They told me that it could not be used to open a bank account and BB told me the same but other banks were happy to accept it. A yellow book is better.
  16. In Sweden they drive on the right so lack of concentration can cause you to make a mistake. However, in Scotland they drive on the left, the same as Thailand. Absolute madness not to wear a helmet in any circumstances.
  17. The police told him he couldn't take the skateboard on to the plane as it could be used as a weapon so he decided to demonstrate that it is an ineffective weapon ????????????
  18. Wrong. A provisional extension of up to 60 days can be granted to a Non O visa holder if that visa was issued on the basis of being married to a Thai national or it was issued based on having a Thai child. The extension is completely discretionary but so are all extensions.
  19. Wow! I did not know that. I thought they were frozen everywhere except the EU.
  20. My experience is totally opposite your understanding. I entered Thailand with a non O based on marriage and my local immigration did their best to convince me to extend based on retirement and not marriage. So I don't think that how you obtained the non O is relevant. If the OP applies for a 30 day extension then this will take him past his 50th birthday and he qualifies for a retirement extension as long as he has the 800k seasoned for the correct amount of time.
  21. The collective noun is 'a bemusement' ????
  22. There was/is an old thread on here about a guy who challenged their Amphur by going to the ombudsman in Bangkok who in turn told the Amphur you do not need to be married. However, we inquired at my local Amphur and sure enough I was told I would need copies of our marriage certificate.
