  1. Yes, as a previous poster has said you can get paperwork from Wise but most likely you will need co-operation from your Thai bank and Wise's Thai bank (I think they use Kasikorn but don't quote me). If you don't choose 'Funds for Long term stay in Thailand' as the reason you are transferring money then the funds are sent by Wise to Kasikorn and then to your bank internally so the final transfer is domestic and not international. If you choose 'Funds for long term stay in Thailand' the transfer takes longer, up to 72 hours, as Kasikorn send the money manually and reference it as an international transfer.
  2. Certificates of Residency are free but my otherwise very honest immigration office charged me 500 baht, but it is available while you wait. They told me that it could not be used to open a bank account and BB told me the same but other banks were happy to accept it. A yellow book is better.
  3. In Sweden they drive on the right so lack of concentration can cause you to make a mistake. However, in Scotland they drive on the left, the same as Thailand. Absolute madness not to wear a helmet in any circumstances.
  4. The police told him he couldn't take the skateboard on to the plane as it could be used as a weapon so he decided to demonstrate that it is an ineffective weapon ????????????
  5. Wrong. A provisional extension of up to 60 days can be granted to a Non O visa holder if that visa was issued on the basis of being married to a Thai national or it was issued based on having a Thai child. The extension is completely discretionary but so are all extensions.
  6. Wow! I did not know that. I thought they were frozen everywhere except the EU.
  7. My experience is totally opposite your understanding. I entered Thailand with a non O based on marriage and my local immigration did their best to convince me to extend based on retirement and not marriage. So I don't think that how you obtained the non O is relevant. If the OP applies for a 30 day extension then this will take him past his 50th birthday and he qualifies for a retirement extension as long as he has the 800k seasoned for the correct amount of time.
  8. There was/is an old thread on here about a guy who challenged their Amphur by going to the ombudsman in Bangkok who in turn told the Amphur you do not need to be married. However, we inquired at my local Amphur and sure enough I was told I would need copies of our marriage certificate.
  9. I read that once. They burn the low brushwood to encourage the growth of mushrooms which they illegally harvest and sell to China but I'm sure the sugar cane burning also contribute.
  10. Although a UK IDP (cost £5.50) is valid for 12 months it can only be used for 3 months in Thailand and then you will need a Thai DL. You could try using an agent.
  11. The point of my post is it is better to find out how your office interpret the rules and not rely on experience of other at different offices. You then went on to confirm that point and to repeat what I had already said in my post about having to submit a new TM30 because I returned with a different visa. So I don't see the point of your reply.
  12. I started post by saying THERE USED to be a rule but thanks for repeating
  13. First of all the rules mean nothing as each office will interpret them as they see fit. I know Chiang Mai have their own rules on TM30. My office in Nahkon Sawan says my wife must complete a new TM30 because I left Thailand and returned with a new visa. If I'd left with a re-entry permit then that wouldn't be necessary but unfortunately my extension was due for renewal when I was forced to return home due to a family death.
  14. There used to be a rule of 3 visa-exempt entries by air every 6 months and you can still see this published on some Embassy websites.
  15. or spreading it. They claim it stops you getting seriously ill but I've not seen the evidence to prove that.
  16. Well you've made this hard work for your son as he could have entered Thailand using his expired Thai passport. You cannot travel on an expired passport but you can use it to prove your citizenship when arriving. My wife and son have both entered Thailand on expired passports and my son has also entered the UK on his expired UK passport. Now he will have to exit Thailand and re-enter using his new Thai passport. However, he can get an extension of stay base on being a Thai citizen - I think it's 12 months.
  17. All disabled people and all travellers over 70 years of age and their travelling party. You can also buy the fast track service.
  18. My Mother had the Moderna bivalent booster last Sep 16th and next day she had a blood clot that caused a stroke and a massive brain bleed (the ER doctors description). She never recovered and died 3 months later. You need to look very closely at the risk benefit of vaccines. If you are in good health then the risk from a side affect of a vaccine is greater than the risk of contracting the virus.
  19. I doubt travel insurance would have paid. Did he have the correct licence and IDP, was he wearing a helmet, and was he intoxicated? Any of these would negate cover.
  20. We spent the New Year in Bangkok and my Mother in-law diligently wore her mask everywhere we went but on our return home to Nakhon Sawan she was the only one who tested positive. None of us wore masks. She's 78 years old and not particularly in good health but didn't get ill, just a mild headache. She's had 2 jabs. Masks are ineffective at protecting you from contracting the virus but they can help stop you spreading it.
