  1. or beer. Just offer water and smile. The reason for the visit is to establish that you actually live there as man and wife and that it is not a bogus marriage of convenience. They usually require a neighbour or the village head to attend and confirm you do live there. The witness will need their blue house book and ID as will your wife.
  2. Certificate of Residency is free but even my usually honest provincial office charges 500 baht and no receipt
  3. It's all nonsense - read this instead https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/myths-about-thai-expats-and-those-income-tax-changes-starting-very-soon-447262
  4. So do you earn untaxed income from abroad or online and bring it onshore to Thailand? because if you don't then there is no tax nonsense you have to worry about. The amendment to the existing tax law is designed to collect money from people who previously didn't have to pay tax on their untaxed income abroad as long as they didn't bring it onshore in the same tax year as it was earned. Unfortunately, we may have to start supplying more information but if your earnings are taxed in your home country and that country has a double taxation agreement with Thailand then it will not be taxed again. If your earnings in your home country are only small and do not reach the threshold for taxation they still will not be taxed in Thailand because your earnings were assessed for tax purposes and none was due therefore your earnings are not untaxed but taxed assessed and zero payment required.
  5. So that is around 44000 baht which is what the OP wanted to send so maybe he's just over the limit and simply needs to send in two tranches
  6. That would make sense. I've never heard of the 'free to marry certificate request'
  7. USA CDC advocating vaccinations for babies from 6 months old - jeez christ
  8. My catarrh is caused by mild asthma. I used to have to use an inhaler when I lived in the UK but the hot humid weather is good for me but I still get some catarrh in the mornings. The Netti pot is good advice
  9. I used to take meds for minor high BP but after I retired and moved to Thailand my BP started to get low like the OP so I stopped my meds and monitored my BP every day for 2 weeks and it is now normal. I didn't start any healthy exercise or drink less but I have a much less stressful life here and I eat a lot more vegetables. It's now been 18 months meds free and my BP is still normal.
  10. Amlodipine 5mg is the usual starting med but best to seek a check-up first.
  11. Barbiturates and opiate-based drugs are the only ones in reality that need an official prescription. Just take your meds in any pharmacy and they will sell you the generic version over the counter.
  12. Were you staying in a hotel or private accommodation?
  13. Returning UK citizens do not have to wait 3 years. You simply have to prove you have returned and are resident in the UK to get full access to the NHS. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-nhs-when-you-return-to-live-in-the-uk
  14. No, technically it is unlimited by air but too many entries will raise the IO interest. It used to be 3 in any 6-month period but they dropped that years ago too.
  15. There is a huge huge difference in the average wage of both countries - in Thailand £4300 PA and the UK £35,000 PA
  16. I've just bought some superglue and their phone charging cables are of good quality but I agree about the food - it's just junk
  17. If immigration will not correct your mistake then you will have to leave Thailand and re-enter using your TR visa.
  18. This is the same on just about every Thai Embassy website. The twice-a-calendar-year limit by land or sea is correct but you get 30 days. The 15 days was stopped years ago
  19. I did mine in October @ Nakhonsawan and everything was the same as last year
  20. Your pink ID card has your name transliterated into Thai so the flight needs to be booked with your Thai-translated name. If you use your Thai driving licence then your name is in English and that can be used to book your flight.
  21. You were correct the first time. It's 20k per person or 40k for a family and has been for quite some time. Visa on Arrival is still 10k and 20k but Visa-exempt is 20k and 40k.
  22. First of all, immigration never asks about return or onward tickets only the airlines. It is an official rule which is why airlines ask as they have to fly you back home if denied entry. It's not a policy decision of the airline but just depends on how sharp your check-in agent is. The rules for travelling are supplied by IATA and appear on the screen as you check-in. I recently travelled to Perth WA and on the return flight to Bangkok my wife and son were denied boarding as they didn't have a return/onward flight (I had a re-entry permit). They had travelled on their UK passports but both are Thai citizens so on producing their Thai passports the problem went away, but my point is they WERE asked so all the ppl who say I haven't been asked in 20 years are not helping anybody. BTW you are overthinking it so don't offer up your $12 ticket unless the check-in agent asks and at immigration just hand in your passport and boarding card for the flight you arrived on then he/she will stamp you in for 30 days. Enjoy.
  23. This is likely to give the perpetrator time to raise the necessary funds I bet he has been questioned unofficially.
