  1. I remember that post, but when I left last May, I looked for this sign. There is one telling you that you must get a re-entry permit from the immigration desk. It doesn't say don't use the e-gates. When you scan your passport it updates your record and on your return, the IO will scan your passport and up pops your file with the departure date.
  2. This is what happens when you put an accounts manager in charge of the budget. Nearly 3 million people have signed a petition calling for a new general election, citing the Labour Government's failure to deliver on the promises made in the lead-up to the last election. Two-tier Kier's ratings have gone from +11 to minus-38
  3. I can transfer funds for free with my bank First Direct (HSBC) but I still get more baht if I use Wise. You can go to Wise.com and see the figures
  4. They have to be in town for when the BF visits so might as well stay in town. As has been said already these girls have several men on the go, sending money, so they don't have to work the bars anymore.
  5. You only have to file a tax return if you have a tax liability in Thailand and have spent more than 180 days here. A tax liability could stem from you bringing untaxed money onshore, earning dividend payments from investments in Thailand, earning money from Thai business ownership etc. If the only funds you bring to Thailand are already taxed in your home country and they have a double taxation agreement then you do not have a tax liability in Thailand.
  6. Paying with Google Wallet/Apple Pay/ Samsung Pay is available more than people think. It is just a RFID payment the same as actually using a card. You can use it anywhere they have a machine for touch card payments (Usually called contactless payment). 711, Big C, Lotus's, Fuel Stations, Starbucks, Tops etc. The only problem is the staff invariably do not know how to do it. So what I do is wave my BB debit card but don't let them take it and as I go to touch the machine with the card I use my phone instead. They often say I haven't paid yet but when they look at the till the transaction has gone through. Transactions over 1500 baht require your PIN. One place did ask me to put my card in before it would let me enter the PIN - I can't remember where now. It didn't matter to me as I had a physical Wise card but that could be awkward with a virtual card. There has been a guy on this forum who claims he got his Wise card sent to his Thai address. It could be something to do with where you declared being tax resident to Wise. My account is based at my UK address and I obtained the card when I was in the UK. It only allows 2 free ATM withdrawals a month so being able to load the card and make payments could become invaluable. I can set up Google Wallet on my Samsung Galaxy Watch, so I will do that next and upset the girl at Starbucks 🤣
  7. That's exactly what happens. My bum doesn't hit the seat when she calls me up 😂
  8. You are correct but it seems OK for the Labour Party to send 100 volunteers to the US and help campaign against Trump 🤔
  9. Two-tier Kier is at it again! Nearly 3 million ppl have signed a petition to have another general election because the Labour Party have gone back on promises they made in the lead-up to the election. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/700143
  10. At my office in Nakhonsawan, you just need your passport. The 90 report paper should be stapled in the back and usually takes less than a minute at this office - walk in and walk out. I'm only 15 mins away so no need to bother doing it online
  11. I will be 70 years old next year and there have been wars in the Middle East all my life. Anti-semitism is rife among young people and that doesn't help to bring peace anywhere
  12. I think you mean the blue house registration book
  13. I first stayed in Sukhumvit in 2004 and can see a massive difference now. I watched a video by Bangkok Pat about this very subject. He says there aren't as many pretty young girls as there used to be and he's correct. He came up with an interesting theory for this. He claims the new generation of girls are more savvy than the previous generation and make all their money online instead of working the bars and streets. Soi 5 is now exclusively for Arabs - the locals now call it soi Arab. Also, many of the hotels are Indian owned.
  14. In 2007 USA suggested Ukraine join NATO but Germany and France vetoed the proposal so they could complete lucrative trade deals with Russia. Now, that worked well! Germany has now increased its defence spending due to Russia's expansionist policy. First into Crimea and now Ukraine. Finland and Sweden joined NATO after Russia invaded Ukraine so how has that helped Russia? Has NATO ever threatened a sovereign nation? of course not, you are talking utter nonsense.
  15. I think you will find that Europe tried that with Russia and then Russia invaded the Ukraine
  16. In 2014, the College of Policing came up with the concept of the NCHI in its Hate Crime Operational Guidance (HCOG). Nothing to do with any government
  17. We've seen some poorly led Tory governments of late but this labour one takes the biscuit.
  18. The author of this article is a Labour MP which if you don't know is the opposite of a right-winger
  19. One or two teaspoons of this in a glass of water every day stops you from getting constipation. It's all-natural and pure fibre. I buy it from Lazada
  20. The most important test is for your prostate because if you have undiagnosed prostate cancer then increasing testosterone can make it worse. They used to think high testosterone levels caused prostate cancer but more recent studies have proven that to be wrong. A total testosterone test is useless so you must go for a free testosterone test instead. In Europe, they do a bio-available test which is also useful. The majority of testosterone in your blood is attached to proteins so the body cannot use it, which is why the total testosterone levels are not a good guide. I hope you report back on your experience as this is an area of men's health that has been neglected due to the false fear of prostate cancer. Good luck.
  21. You are correct, it is not a teaching in the Quran but it only exists now among Muslim communities because Islam is the only main religion that does not allow outside marriage or relationships. Therefore, it is not a cultural action but an act caused directly by the edicts of Islam. Many religions and communities practised honour killings centuries ago but it seems only the Muslim communities are perpetuating it in the 21st century.
  22. Sin sods are only paid if the bride is a virgin. If she comes from a wealthy family and is a good catch then maybe a dowry could be asked for but if she has been married before or has children then a sin sod is not going to happen.
  23. I think you will find you are wrong. Cobalt is a primary component of most EV batteries. Lithium A key component of EV batteries. New technologies are being developed to extract lithium more sustainably. Cobalt A primary component of lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in EVs. However, cobalt extraction can be damaging to the environment and linked to socio-economic issues. Nickel Used in the cathodes, or negatively charged parts, of EV batteries. Nickel is ideal for higher-power batteries. Manganese An essential metal for manufacturing EV batteries. Graphite An essential ingredient in EV battery anodes, which are terminals inside a rechargeable cell. Battery makers can use natural graphite or synthetic material, which is more expensive but lasts longer. Lithium iron phosphate A material that's gaining traction as the EV battery material of choice as the auto industry works to produce more affordable electric vehicles
  24. There isn't a new tax law but an amendment to the existing rules. It says if you are a tax resident and bring onshore untaxed foreign earnings, then it will be subject to tax regardless of the tax year it was earned. Before this amendment, if you earned the money in previous tax years it was deemed tax-free. If the money you bring onshore has been assessed for tax elsewhere and that country has a double taxation agreement then you do not have a tax liability in Thailand. Now if the Thai tax office decides to audit you because you asked a question about tax evasion on this site then they would not be able to audit your Wise account as it is a UK-based financial company (not a bank) and is outside of their jurisdiction. So that transaction or a swift transfer from your home country bank directly to the hospital will be invisible to a tax audit.
